  1. I would go to the air one if you have the space! One less thing to go wrong on the cheap ass radiators that are made today !
  2. Bro anything with pressure on it is suspect! piston cooler valve oil pressure sensor base pressure sensor any wires on the pass thru to the injectors Bla Bla Bla! If the crank case spinner is getting slugged up the instance of wicking is higher thru any of these! You may want to address the spinner while attacking this this job as well ! Just sayin!
  3. Yup good job ! Posting the fix is always helpful For everyone!
  4. SPN 636, Camshaft Position Sensor, FMI 2 Data erratic intermittent or incorrect SPN 636, Camshaft Position Sensor, FMI 3 Voltage above normal, or shorted to high source These two codes are suspect to your situation!
  5. Is it throwing up codes on the dash?
  6. Possibly Is it a newer one?
  7. sounds like a single axle ! is it a slim line or sleeper cab ? the other issues with these was the clutch cable mount the cable was mounted to the floor originally and broke the rivets loose from the body over time! There was a reinforcement bracket developed to repair this in later years!
  8. Kind of an outside of the box thought Joe but a good one the tire balancers of today are quite accurate !If The thing will chuck up to it!
  9. I also didn't read back thru the whole thing how ever your compressor could be suspect if you havent checked it yet! We just had a customer with a coolant push problem on a 3406E the compressor was over heating warped the head ! I thought back to a Mack issue their was a TSB years back for compressor elbow being obstructed by casting sand! The Cat The (Coolant line ) had collapsed and it over heated it ! You might check this as well! Just sayin
  10. We sold lots of v8 here We are in hill country here V8 would pull these without question ! The V8 loves logging ! The V8 how ever didn't like long haul ! Try and drag the full 500 HP for hours at a time on miles of steep country with out a breather ,They would drop valve seats break head bolts Crack liners Bla Bla Bla! I They had their issues But the power and fuel economy was tough to beat! I to Think Highly of the the E6 /E7 ! But soon these ALL will be dinosaurs Be cause Volvo is starving the parts market to force there agenda on the masses!
  11. Bro any kind of damage on a damper you risk the chance of a broken crank at some point! If itis a play truck not a big deal ! If its a daily worker not worth the risk! Change it out!
  12. The trim / cal code is just a finer adjustment for the puter to use as a starting point was how it was explained to me ! Not totally necessary but not a bad idea to get it done! Good find RED Check the Guide pins while your rollers are up bud ! Also Bro some Advice ! Replace All the EUP bolts these tend to work loose and break occasionally!
  13. I believe the deed was done before the Volvo turds took over ! they didn't step in till 2003!
  14. I would run thru a valve set and see if you find any loose valves you may have a cam failure underway !
  15. Yup they missed the boat on that one! Our branch sold the bulk of thous trucks ! We had the opportunity to repower 3 or 4 with E9 in later years .The only draw back to this was the lack of engine braking! the repower paid for it self in a year or so, in fuel savings over the Buzzin dozen ! Allision wouldn't warranty the trans because of the torque of the E9! so we ended up converting to 12 speed manual trans ! Irony of this is I've heard the fat trucks are making a bit comeback of sorts these days! what is old ,is new again!
  16. Depending on the brand of starter that was installed My guess is the starter is faulty These starters go thru phazes where you get a bad batch of them ! Tri get the Delco branded stuff when replacing if they off this in Oz!

Barry I have a suggestion ! There from time to time are posts that get questions asked that have been answered several times ! The latest being idle set with switches! On gray engines ! this question has been asked more than a few times on the forums! I wonder if it would be helpful to make a new category TIPS AND REPAIR TRICKS  so guys can post the most common fixes for most commonly asked questions!  quite hounestly the seach feature is not that great at picking up on what your searching for!

    just a thought!

  18. Rev the engine with the foot pedal or cruise control to the desired set ie: 650 depress the clutch pedal ! I believe that will lock it in! https://f01.justanswer.com/diesel3153/b783e0a3-7099-4672-8fa2-def5c4dff508_Mack_engine_speed_control.pdf That there was posted by Mack pro awhile back!
  19. Yup ! how ever this little issue mentioned here causes a lot of grief for the dealers as well, dam nescience phone calls asking what's this code? is it important ? Bla bla , ! There is no problem making money for the dealers with New equipment of any sort! Mother Volvo IS all about the money and I guess they should be, got to impress the share holders! SELL THEM PARTS BOYS!
  20. Hey Bro ! brain Farts relieve pressure on brain strain !😇 They changed these 3 or 4 times extruded to intruded 9/16 to 15mm and 14mm how's a guy to remember everything your off the hook Buddy! We still love ya buddy 🥰 😂
  21. I have an added sequence when installing injector lines! It involves tightening the the injector down snug then backing it off to just touching tight! Then tightening and torquing the line ! Theory behind this is it allows for the injector to find its happy place if there is any variance in the alignment ball in the head! Not sure if it helps on the e7 but have done this for ever! As we used to have issues with the V8 Lines back in the day, specially when they converted to the Robert bosch fuel pump and were using the ball for elinment on the injector it seemed to help doing this! just something to try if you have a leaker!
  22. Sweet looking unit ! looks like some one looked after it!
  23. Not saying this is the case here BUT! I ran into this years ago ! I would be having the the dealer look in to the torque limit switch on the trans if the switch is engaged when this anomaly happens there may be a short circuit in the to wires heading to the torque limit switch causing the Ecu to think its in low! This will cut the power By almost exactly half no codes ! to eliminate this possibility cut or remove the wires at the VECU that come from the torque limit switch on the trans. just a place to look if your options are running out! Just sayin!
  24. Yup seen this happen many times with Allison equiped units just a hicup in the program settings! take it to a mack dealer have the dealer program the idle back to 650 and turn off the parameter to set the idle with switches! this parameter requires you to hit the clutch switch to set the idle ! you have no clutch pedal so your unable to finish the set sequence!
  25. fjh

    EUP broke

It all depends on the extent of the damage! usually the cam and the cam followers are replaced!
