  1. hmmm from what I have seen these are reasonable Look not bad ! duno what to tell ya! Was there any evidence of crystal buildup when they had the box off!?Thinking about a crack in the ash can! quite a common thing Also the nox sensors were chronic on these at one point they had a point where we had been changing them left right and center! You could throw sensors at it looks like they have thrown everything else at it! they could be out of parameter and I believe you must do a learned data reset!
  2. (make sure you got proper temp ) what temps are you seeing?
  3. Yup start at the other end! make sure you got proper temp ! Turbo spooling properly on regen ? Check turbo Effort possibly sticking ! fuel pressure OK? fuel dowser clean?Dpf sensor ports clear tubes clear? with this junk you need to work front to back ALMOST always! Just sayin
  4. Been my observation the Volvo front axle is one thing they got right quite trouble free! Definately check them!!!! how ever more common failure is draglink ends and tie rod ends!

  10. That there is where you need to start in my opinion .good starting point Joe! the hole in the top may have also been a failed clutch brake at some point as well! seen this happen many times! one of the few things I have done on the red engines I have been in ivolved in physically and not a silent observer!
  11. these are ok for over the road use maybe, ok for in town for local delivery! My self after seeing them in action for a few years , wouldn't have them ! To hard to keep track of wear , wear out extremely fast in say a garbage packer situations we had a customer with a low bed he went back to drums ! The disc were good at holding the load back but in this application logging roads steep grades mud puddles tended to crack rotors the pads wore out extremely fast and were hella expensive to replace !
  12. You are a dedicated soul bro!
  13. Different engine, same concept. Good find buddy !
  14. Don't think he was implying to set the cat way Joe , how ever I agree hole heartedly !
  15. If the lightning bolt light is on, you can turn off the cruise control and press and hold the set/decel button to get the code. The lightning bolt will flash, pause, then flash some more. Count the number of flashes.
  16. Its a dogs breakfast!😡 but any help would be better than us trying to explain it! and its a crap shoot even when you have all the info ! you got to have the dog house out and a keen eye! to work in that area! shit show!
  17. ohwell Your a bit committed now ! move on see how it goes!
  18. nope thats just the cover! There is another tool to time!
  19. the dam timing tool bolts somewhere on the back with the rear cover piece removed unfortunately you can be one tooth out one way or the other with the dam thing at our shop we had to fight this a have dozen times! you have to check it with the computer after you have the engine running to confirm if it is synced! and ITS SO EASY TO SEE back there! 😡
  20. Unfortunately there is a specific tool to achieve this! It is hoeky as hell and a crap shoot to use ! we normaly make our own marks when removing the cam gear for ease of assembly! Mac pro Or Joey may have some decent advice on this! This here is one job you just don't want to be winging it! The only thing I can do is sit back and watch and wish you luck I am a sidewalk superintendent when it comes to red engines! ! They MAY be able to talk you guys thru it! 😡
  21. So pay attention!😁 The amber light usually on the right side of the steering wheel if its burned out replace it this will tell you if you got an active code may be causeing the shut down!Red light on means 1 of several things ,low oil preasure, high water temp; low water in the revivor, these all Can trigger shut down in 1 minute after start! We need info to try and help the more of the questions you answer the closer and quicker we can help you to repair if we can! If the engine is sputtering when it starts it my be fuel psi related ! If its a clean start its likly a electrically driven fix! post what you find we will try to help! assuming this is not a mechanical fuel pump
  22. Is the check engine light operating? key on amber light comes on goes off? red shutdown light off? Also turn the key yo the on possition does the heater fan operate? If not check the accessory relay under the ashtray!
  23. If the engine is equipped with dynatard engine brake this is normal! Long as you followed the direction correctly and you had tight valves on the opposite cyl you were setting on that stroke AND you were on the valve set pointer! all is good!
