Yup grounds are important ! an odd happening We ran across years ago with a brand new Etech in a log truck that would stop on a hill by the same cedar tree on the same mountain dog trail every once in a blue moon! Started getting quite frequent we consulted Mack and the took the same truck and duplicated the same problem on the Dyno and found it was Voltage spikes at the alternator at a certain RPM their tech happened to spot the surge when the engine quit at one point ! Just a stroke of luck if you ask me ! How ever we replaced the alt and it put a stop to the issue! Electrics can do strange shit! Dam lucky we could have search for that for months! Years! Comes back to what Onyx said experiences! Rambling !

So my suggestion is to buy a relay ! Use it to weed out the bad one if there is a bad one! Do this one at a time and try it! If after you have gone thru all 5 or six with no results then we need to look else where! If you run across one that corrects the problem then bobs you uncle! You have checked engine grounds correct?

In my mind the the cam sensor un pluged should throw a code also the flywheel I could be Wrong on that How ever if the if computer doesn't see either or of these sensors one would think it would throw up a code for it! That said if Your original issue was not throwing up a code it is likely a main power issue that the ECU doesn't SEE as a problem! Relays as mentioned! Just my opinion

we have seen the shafts break another long shot ! This shaft may have a crack and still driving! also the drive coupling could be worn!
-
Bud did you check the Power relays on the right hand left in the glove panel there? I chimed in late here ! Are we still chasing the number one post ? looks like it got side tracked!

Unless the dowel was missing no! there is a small possibility the dowel stuck in the fly wheel if thi was sent to the machine shop for grinding and was never put back in!

Couldn't resist poking some fun! Joe!

so that hole needs to line up with the hole in the crank its the dowel hole!

So Thinking on it and after seeing some of the posts by you folks I would say ! Main bitch for me are the Rocker bolts that really never got resolved the Fuel pump yup that's one they fixed that wasn't broke to start with! they had the perfect setup on the original E7 , There ain't no nicer serviceable engine out there than an E7 in a CL or CH !!! I Never liked the plate oil cooler! Come to think on it The original e7 was set up almost perfect! If they had put the powerleash on the the original E 7 the engine would have been pretty nice! problem free engine! Etec was OK how ever it was the turning point the down hill slide to unreliability ! Once the cam thing got sorted it was decent till 2002 ! Rocker bolts didn't start breaking till they made them smaller and powerleash came along ! the EGR was the big slide and this was an experiment for ALL the engine companies ! except Mercedes they got an extra year to comply for some reason!? They pretty much resolved almost everything else ! The turbo issue was the big thing in the beginning what ever they did to resolve this worked after a year or so of embarrassing Failures! So the only fixes for me would be them rocker bolts put em back to the correct size 7/16 , and put the fuel system back to pre 1996 aboriginal E7and the oil cooler Don't like it just because I don't! just another fix that wasn't broken! The dollar store fuel line fiasco seems to have resolved so I will consider that fixed! So really comes down to it Was there ! But they regressed! Those being fixed everything would be at an acceptable failure rate !

We got burned on that so many times we made a bung and pressure test every time we replace these gaskets Before its totally assembled! Not worth getting it all assembled to find you got a leak 1/2 hour before quitting time! Note! Most EGR coolers can Now be removed with out removing turbo ect. You can saw off 2-3 hours of work by jacking the front of the engine and moving the shock bracket out of the way! (MOST Models!) (Don't tell the warranty dept)

So I don't know how far you are along on this project but check out Amazon for your cable and bits for this project! Im currently working on an old dodge 12 valve hand throttle set up and found some use full stuff here for the project!

38 % is low ! Also Something to note ! Usually if your seeing soot out going the DPF is likely cracked Just had been our experience!

Bro ! The relief valve in the oil filter housing is a possibility ! Can't hurt to check all of these you obviously done everything else Bud ! I'm just going on my experience that never saw a rocker shaft plugs cause oil pressure to drop Just made the jakes not work! Again by all means you need to check it! Your positive you don't have oil dilution going on there? I didn't review your original post on the pressure issue but just asking? Oil samples taken? -

highly doubt its the plugs but worth a look I suppose! 😬 -
This is concerning! Shouldn't be any soot! Mack pro Has some very good points and way more experience than I, the dollar store sensors are likely part of the issue and Oxy may have the ticket also ( Turbo sticking ) ?Or HI issues ? Regen is Treating the symptom not the problem! From watching what went on at our shop you need to be checking your regen temps! Is it doing the full job correctly? If the turbo is sticking won't make heat! being a garbage packer they don't work hard they do a lot of idling the turbo is a soot collector of sorts! If you have ever run one of these with the exhaust disconnected you will see they do create soot every time you stomp on the pedal to go! hence Garbage truck how many stops and goes does it do a day ? LOTs ! Something to consider! again I am know expert in the field of DPF however! Just sayin!

I could Be wrong , how ever it Looks like the thru shaft sheath has turned some in the bore think that hole should be lower in the cup! You don"t normally see the oil threads from the side Could have happened during the over heat cycle! that tube feeds the power divider and front bearings ! That said this is a classic why you teach your people! A plug is either in and tight , or its out ! Nothing in between! It s the rules! same as the SHOP DOOR All the way UP or ALL the way Down., No in between! Its the Rules! Good luck with your claim In my mind they should own it! ! People make mistakes shit happens that's sometimes how they learn!
