  1. Glenn as you know it will defiantly run fine at at 18 ! Why are you checking it? Are you having issues? I don't have my manual either so I can be precise ! I how ever noticed that over the years the timing changed as the years past for emission reasons I believe ! I seen em set anywhere from 17 -22 !Depending on pumps ambac or robby !

  4. Nope they break for some reason likley heat related from the EGR coming into the top! Pro mentions a bulletin check into it I was not aware of the bulletin! The new manifold comes with a new gasket but not the bolts ! in my mind it SHOULD come with new bolts TOO ( A Kit) how ever This is a Volvo owned company they nickel and dime for everything!!😡 I was heavy into vehicle inspection just before my retirement this last Feb I would look for these bolts being missing while checking over all the other functions! Found a fare few! I always looked it was fairly common! So when you buy your new manifold Ask the part guy for bolts cause they likely wont offer them!
  5. if you found a cracked intake you likly already have a broken bolt! is the crack at the front just below were the egr tube enters ? if so look for a missing bolt at the bottom
  6. Exhaust gaskets ? turbo gasket ?Utube gasket (the tube that attaches the egr cooler to the exhaust side egr valve )this little devil is a pain to nail down AND a horses ass to repair! ! If you can catch the truck when its ready to regen this noise will show up during a regen if it is indeed the you tube gasket ! During regen ! while the noise is present pour hot water all over the pipe and joints if the sound changes you have found your issue! Just something to try!

Front mount maybe the question here as , the engine evolves to 4 valve the mounts on the front start to change from trunnion mount to pedestal mounts !It will all depend on the donor engine front mount !Long as both engines have a front steel cover all should fit! as for cabs the rd has unique mounts how ever its all bolts and nuts so I believe this here is doable as well with some swapping ! not sure on the hood you would have to compare them your self see if its doable!
  8. Yup the plastic peices have a tang formed on them! they come in a small bag with various sizes when you by a new tack cable I'm not sure they come separately! you could ask!

  11. 80 is a bit High warm cold 80 is ok! should be at 40 or so warmed up!

  13. So Your sounding like a Volvo salesman Pro??? What's up with that? 🙃You working on a position higher up in the food chain? All they got to do now is get some decent wire to put in these trucks and they would be perfect! You commented on the trans and clutch adjustments ! in my opinion if they programmed that trans to start out in a lower gear there would be even less issues with clutches! Owell I'm still a doubting Thomas!😅
  14. Yup think its due ! You need to keep an eye on this little guy in dust environments they clog up fast same as the under hood air cleaners once every six months to a year is not uncommon in the summer possibly twice that!
  15. Auz was behind emissions wise by a year or so I beleive CCRS did away with the fuel drain back at the injector The injector had to shoot what it was given!
  16. I have had air driers do this were you chasing this before the air drier change ? ! Was the problem before the new drier or after ?! I am a fan of the Bedix AD9 air drier Tried and true in my mind!
  17. Bit different eh Joe !? They only ran this type of turbo 2-3 years here 2001-2004 topped out at 33 psi boost for a 460 HP engine BS Horse power! if they hit 34 psi they would derate!

Well if its burning it off and then creating more in short order then something is creating soot, Injectors, turbo , boost leak stuck egr! in my opinion like I said This is where the experience and luck part comes in! These can be horribly frustrating for everyone to own to work on and if you don't run across the right realworld experienced guy at any given shop to get your repair diagnosed and repaired it gets expensive AND Some times it comes down to guessing AND Parts chucking! it only gets worse as the truck ages! Remember Nobody knows everything or seen it all even thou ,they would like to think so! All we can do is tell ya what we seen and our experiences here ! I am not a guru on these some one might chime in with some thing that strikes them as odd ! Good luck with this you guys keep posting as you run thru the fix Most of all post your FIX so others may benefit by your experience!
  19. Hi Sorry Is this A RED ENGINE? AUZZ! ? If so ! I believe there were issues with the plugs at the turbo on These here There is a TSB on it some where Mack pro may be able to hook u up with it!
  20. No it doesn't! Sensors are just as good as the info they get ! You can Guess and change parts All you want with these you need to have the program on a computer screen and A fare bit of knowledge and mostly experience of the system to go right to the problem to fix AND a whole lot of luck! Go to a dealer and have the codes read maybe they can fix or send u in the right direction ! You can have anything from a failed 7th injector ,or EGR cooler to a pluged Venturi tube causing this!
  21. deep pan holds 53 litres / quarts or so standard pan is 32 ! if you have 3 filters it should have the 53 liter pan how ever it may have been changed! The deep pan is aprox 10 -12 inches the standard is around eight inches both of these are estimates never measured them how ever there is a big difference side by side! Check for scratches on the tips of the gears and the inside of the housing the oil is carried round the out side if its scrffed up change the pump and i don't like the look of that releif valve!
