  1. Does anyone know why GM still makes GMC / Chevy same truck different trim ! Volvo/Mack Same truck Different Cab and hood! Marketing strategies I guess! Its been going on for years firebird ,Camaro , chevlle/ boulmont just to name a few!
  2. Im not trying to be a smart ass here but you do have a 12 sp trans and half gears with a 12 speed! a half gear lower to low? just asking! your sweet spot will likly be 1400- 1500 the 1600 will be best fuel economy with the half gears you should fine something that fits with the 3:87s!
  3. Good Call pro ! And pay attention to the dollar store pex clamps that everybody are using on the the charge air these days They are garbage ! if in doubt replace them with real clamps you'll be glad you did! seen these fail on lots of units specially on the hot side of the turbo !
  4. they rarely cause issues!
  5. My opinion ! Top of the list , you need to check for exhaust leaks turbo gasket exhaust gaskets (broken exhaust bolts and boost leaks to start with , broken clamps bla bla. check the intake manifold at the front below the egr mixer tube for broken bolts and for a crack associated with a broken bolt front lower bolts have a tendency to break! After cooler split!? The egr cooler my be plugged this will cause the egr valve to open to much and result in little to no boost as the ecu is detecting low flow also the dp sensor on that circuit is susceptible to plugging again low flow issue . bottom line lots of shit to look for. those are just a few . just a few places of many to look!
  6. 12 speed is a dandy dump truck trans 5 speeds for reverse is a wonderful thing ! some Things to watch for have been mentioned ,to add to the list pull the counter shaft caps check the rear bearings For pitting replace as necessary these can be done with out other disassembly, if you are removing the air shift to re oring check the reverse gears, the idlers also can be replaced or turned around if need be to reused with out to much disassembly the reverse gear and these idlers used to take a beating when drivers were impatient and didn't wait till the truck was static before shifting to reverse! otherwise The trans was decent!
  7. (If you're paying $10k for a clutch job, you're getting robbed ! ) THATS THE POINT! Flywheel grind ! If someone walks in off the street to have a clutch replaced and you have no idea how many times the clutch has been done you replace the flywheel for your own safety then you can Provide the whole job with a solid warranty with out worrying about a backfire !As for using a recon actuator Our luck with most ReMack Parts is not the best! Not the most quality stuff in my mind I would just rather start over! start from scratch ! And not have to do it twice! Just an opinion
  8. The red shut down is set to come on with the 3 sensors Joey mentioned those three can trigger a shut down you have a minute to decide! How ever we used to disable low water shut down as it can be a PIA ! the light will still appear but the no action was taken to shut down if disabled! check the wiring over near the oil cooler the clamps tend to rub the wires there ! be sure your not over heating! Good advice by Glen there too Cover the bases!
  9. Shit ! I my country that's been going on for Years The generation of Wimps is here ,get used to it! everyone wants to sit on there duffs and play video games! lazy shits! no motivation ! How ever they would end up wore out and grumpy just like me , So who is the smart one ? Guess its not me!
  10. Haven't had covid yet So I wouldn't be able to tell if I had it with the symptoms you describe Aside from the dizzy spells ! I have had most all of those symptoms for the last 20 years ! However be patient Bro All things take Time !For Me Tired and grumpy is the norm It is a natural occurrence when you work for a living I think! And some Times a Tough thing to push through! Just Keep pushing!
  11. Hope🤞fully it stays that way!
  12. This here Idea from the( bunny from down under )😂 makes some sense Its much easier to find a leak under pressure Than under vacuum! I have done the bunny trick also and if you have an external leak! you'll likely find it! It sounds to me its a leak behind the primer pump could be a check valve in the pump or secondary filter by the description of the time line! As others described crack in a filter head or filter can a bad line ect! Just my opinion
  13. Yup back when a truck was a trucks wiring was labeled properly and things were alot simpler and less captive! neat post! Paul do you have any pics of the V8 with the Vmack fuel pump mounted on the engine ! I have never seen this set up as the Vmack drive by wire set up was never offered in North America! I would like to see how the econovance was incorporated in the valley of the engine! thanks
  14. Always pays to get all the bolts started by hand before running them in with a wrench! that said depending where the bolt is it will likely be fine! what do you have to loose, give it a try!
  15. Check all the plastic return lines to the head and the little jumper between the head as well, also have your oil sampled for fuel the orings on the injectors can be an issue! just another place to look if all else fails!
  16. You may be looking at injector cups and injectors at this point has any of the shops done a combustion in fuel test?
  17. Don't think they have thunk that out yet !Up in BC Canada Were building a new Dam to Power All the New electric Vehicles were Gona sell!🤪All electri By 2030 !🤓
  18. Joe in my opinion You got to be carefull with that test! I have seen more than one pump shaft seal blown out due to over pressuring the system ! had it happen to me more than once! Wern't a happy camper!😡
  19. We ran into one the other day where by the little relay failed and was replaced but installed back wards still wouldn't start (Wrong polarity) swapped the wires and it started think this was mentioned earlier how ever worth saying it again! Its polarity sensitive!
  20. Yup Agree you don't need to compound the issue!
  21. Well as with the bottom end on the grey engine they are pretty tough if you have looked after the oil and the clutch adjustment ! I would leave it alone we have a fair few high milers here and any we have had apart usually for other reasons looked fine bearing Wise! As Joe stated its not a slam dunk to pull the pan and look like a gray engine! AS 58 said oil analysis is a good cheap check! Just my opinion!
  22. Maybe that’s why it’s mutating it’s trying to get at you type O people as well!😡
  23. Don't think your allowed to like things twice or three times here ! However the above statement is Soooo true! The average clutch {job here} for the I shift M drive is By the time the dust settles close to ten grand flywheel clutch actuator s and rigging all should be replaced or it could screw you over down the road ! To top it off they program the trans to start off normally in 4th gear this tends to wear the clutch out even faster depending on the trucks job ! Just a note to anyone buying these do your self a favor and have your dealer program the trans to start out in a lower gear It can be done the option is there just got to do it! Clutches ARE NOT PART OF WARRANTY after a year or so, also warranty DOES NOT PAY FOR DOWN TIME! So if your temped to buy an auto trans be sure to buy extended warranty! As with ALL Manufacturers you should anyway as the rest of the truck is susceptible to emission issues anyway ! And quite honestly Big V / Mack ain't the only Guilty party here You can Bet Everybody has the same Agenda!
  24. Yup hope you can shake it off soon bro ! I heard on the news today they have noted that this bug likes Type A blood Better than type o and seems to latch better to it for some reason Possibly the reason Terry And others can walk around not feeling any symptom's Get Well soon! Were all routin for ya!
  25. Maxidyne!
