  1. So the thing is did the noise just start or was it like that when you got the truck? The upper bearings in the these do get some wear over time and they loose there pre load and move around a bit and make some noise They can operate like this for years! That said you don't know the history.....!check the drain plug if good change the oil 75/90 synth see how it goes! That said the model and setup you got there is my favorite lots of room to work standup oil change Yesssss! Just My opinion!
  2. any noise in 13? is this truck new 2 u? these trans rarely give Main case problems the back section is the weak point! That said do an oil change on the trans and check for pieces if looks ok keep on keepin on ! And keep the oil changed once a year or two!
  3. How do you know its a She?
  4. Didn't realize we were racein ! 😅
  5. Does this truck have cummins power? if so make sure the trans yoke is tight! Also Do you have mack diffs if so be sure to have even tire sizes!
  6. The most common issue is injector cups ! You are quite fortunate for the piece to have just got into the turbo ! We have seen several of these failures ! where by a piece would fall out of the valve end up on one side of the piston and take out the liner as well! Because the piston has no skirt to speak of the piston will cock in the bore and easily break the liner !As for the heads cracking I'm not sure its a pandemic by any means shit happens some times ! Also if have deleted the egr this can cause a bit of problems if the proper tune was Not installed into the program to account for the lack of EGR!
  7. But my Little Micro A$$ was not eligable.. Really ? I created and account years ago just so I could cross reference stuff ! was way better than the Volvo Turd parts setup! that said never intended on buy stuff!
  8. Exactly! I don't know how many storys I heard where by I was just going for a Shift AND Pop! When turbos let go! most times the compressor side would be popped in half! but the odd time the shaft would break and thats when shit can hit the fan in a hurry! they suck in some oil and the show is on!
  9. Kinda doubt full that you can access that info at all on VMAC 2 ! POSIBLY with the VMAC Software IF you happen to have it on an computer some where! Don't forget everything started out in DOS operating system Before windows Came Along! and you had to use the Prolink 9000 as an interface! WAY OVER My head!
  10. depending how old the program the rpm log May not be view able! Also years ago as a comparison as LTK Mentioned We had a customer whos engine blew a turbo He was unable to get it toned down it screamed for 20 minutes blew the top off the rad and it rattled it self to a stop after 20 min !He tried to stall it but he was between gears couldn't get it back in when it happened just like you! He Did not get lucky! So Hope fully you may have gotten lucky!
  11. Bummer ! Yup all of the above ! As the boys have said ! The push rod thing is the easiest tell tale ! Unfortunately the weak point here is the lifters! and valves! Even if you don't have any bent push tubes your lifters will always be in question after this event, Any kind of valve float on these can crack the lifter face IF its got old style lifters! The new style lifters a quite resistant to this however guess time will tell!
  12. Yup this is where experience and paying attention to detail comes in ! = ( Mack pro) Not just assuming and throwing parts at shit! Watch and access what's going on start with the quick ,cheap and easy stuff! Follow his lead!
  13. Red there ain't no thought put into the guy who got to lay hands on this stuff later on that's been that way for quite some time but its has gotten way worse in the last 15 -20 years since the Volvo turds took over they pride them self's on complication and expense the keep it simple stupid left the building when they took over just a shame! It could be worse We could be workin on a international here Those guys hired a bunch of X Volvo Engineers when they redesigned there engine! You can barely even see the valve cover there is so much crap on it!☠️ EVIL!
  14. When these engines first came to being ! and it was apparent they were having bolt issues! I actually saved a few bolts used back for my road box! had them in there as I had to do a couple of road calls where guys phoned in had ticking and popping noise due to a broken bolts so we saved the tow bill anyway ! Just put these in to get them to the shop! So my rant here is WHY on earth did whom ever Engineer change from a tried and true 7/16 bolt that never gave a lick of trouble in years gone by to a just barely good enough metric size bolt! Barely 5/16 to do the same job as the 7/16! I guess I shouldn't complain! Dumb moves Like This Kept me Employed for the last 40 years but just the same its disappointing to see this stuff happening to the product you are or were proud of!
  15. Yup if you want credibility and respect you need to own it when a F up happens! Pretty simple! Even when and if you determine it wasn't something you did the suspicion is always there in their minds! Just put your self in there shoes! I your case its mainly only time to eat! If you are the business owner time has to be accounted for! Its like reds valve /lifter issue there in some ways had that happened to some one he had payed to do that job he would be suspicious!
  16. Steeler maybe on to it here With the bolt thing as mentioned above! Years ago E6 era ran across a push rod wear issue on e6 wear the rocker gald and dried up wearing the push tube socket ! Causing similar symptoms to a lifter failure maybe it is this kind of scenario! cant rule out a crack in a rocker shaft either like Steeler mentioned ! again We have very few non brake engines here I personally worked on maybe 3 all were in MR Models ! So just speculation on My part the cam pic above kind of threw me as it doesn't look that great to me but if the lobe looks and feels ok then it likley is ! The other scenario I can think of is a displaced H ring and at time of set it was off by a bit and then its some how tracking OK by its self! Duno just speculating now!
  17. K so I have seen years ago wear on push tubes on the e6 the ball end would wear into the socket on the rocker side! Due to lack of lube the rocker shaft and rocker should get a real close inspection in my opinion ! You are right to wait on rocker bolts don’t trust them!
  18. Again I haven’t seen this either I but maybe he had a rocker stick was the push tube bent? I’ve seen guide pins break and raise hell ! This appears not to have guide pins ! Not what I’m used to! Sure would be nice to know the cause I’m with u on that!
  19. I didn’t follow this thread how ever ! Came in at the end here To me that cam looks pretty hammered so I think it’s odvious having to set for the wear would account for the setting if that’s what he did! I can remember doing these chasing ticks and mostly chirps ! Doing a set only if I was asked to! These engines from what I saw held there set well if there was a gooffy valve setting especially on only one cyl something is likely going sideways down town. Just my observation!
  20. It will sort it self bro !There is an obvious issue sounds like he is heading to a cam job ! I personally would pull the pump pull a main or two and check stuff as you probably would! just can leave stones unturned when your that deep!
  21. yup pulling the pump is a given here
  22. Good find Dave ! Thanx for posting this! All these posts can assist guys in there endeavors to getter done! What you found is un common so every little bit helps!
  23. Roll the push rod on a bench if it rolls nice its good!
  24. Let us know how it goes with this ! This is kind of a first for me up till now We have done just cams ! We all know the just exhaust enhancements help a lot by the lengthy post on that subject! But Plus the cam is a new twist I think! 😅 Good call on checking the buddys truck that will help in getting the right cam!🤞
