Exactly! You can triple the HP on a E9 But how log will it last is the issue! the E6 as Paul stated there even at 285 maxi dyne was susceptible to this they did make a 315 thermal dyne as stated before in another thread there was a reason the E7 came along! sure you can turn it up but DO YOU Really want to?? If you want to keep your toy alive just leave it! in my mind A half turn on the screw is all I would consider myself ! You don't want to be getting your foot into it for any serious work thou !
-
THE LIMITING FACKTOR ON THESE IS THE ENGINE BLOCK! 300 MAYBE ! Just my opinion not a fact
-
It some times takes a test drive to work the air out! Try it!
-
How is the oil pressure with your foot on the throttle held At 650?
-
In my mind there should be no trailers running around with out Spring brakes regardless of year! Same as tractors with spring brakes on only one axle which is still allowed by the way! You can always tell a cheap truck build if it was build with only one set of spring brakes it was a bottom of the line build! BARE MIN spec!
-
be wear ! The selco valve that Joey posted there comes in two versions not sure which number joe has posted there how ever! One will release the brakes on push of the button while it fills the tank / IF IT FILLS THE TANK ! And the other requires the tank to fill before the brakes will release! the later is the best one to install otherwise your trailer can run about with no air in that tank and you would never know! Not a safe condition !

Loud squeak / squealing when I set my parking brakes (pull out valves)
fjh replied to itsJC's topic in Air Systems and Brakes
Joe may be right how ever You have a warranty use it bro ! Let the dealer identify it for you! Many times there is a quick release valve on the back of the cab on the emergency line! -
.Sounds to me Mp is on the right path ! Don't think the EGR block is doing it The egr should be throwing a code for mass flo out of parameter! this shows up a few KM after you block it ! Your first boost drop out complaint is pretty exact and some of the other stuff on the list as well there as well! worth a shot doing a reflash! Something may have got corrupted in the program somewhere! (not the first time!) Also if all else fails check the ECM plugs for coolant wicking! relatively common on the older chassis! just something to look at!
-
Try pulling up the blink codes as stated! You will have a mass flow code . How ever are there anymore! For other things! ? Engine speed? Vehicle speed?cam position? These all could make it stumble! I once blocked an egr valve on a customer truck it ran in inhibited for 1.5 mil kms! Not saying it ain’t a problem but…….it was a 2005!

How’s the air filter? Cheap and easy stuff first? These filters plug up fast!
-
intelligence is only part of the equation Joe! The tooling is important as well and you need to have your fucking notebook computer right beside you and follow ALL the DOEHEAD ideas put forth in the instructions cause it will likely f up if you don't ! Remember it's not just a simple diesel Engine any more its a Gong show! Sorry having a negative day today! 😡
-
Paul ,I am much like you in thought process ! How ever in this particular instance there are a fare few specialty tools involved! your and my way is not really a good way !The Volvo turds designed this engine around specialty tools so you have to take it back to them !Its expensive to buy the tools Dealers HAVE to HAVE these to be a dealer and Its totally labor intensive and that's WHY the dealers have to charge up the ass to do it! Its so expensive to do because they made it that way! ON purpose .Its all about the money! they hope to sell you a new truck ! Instead of the repair! Also the Clutch is a good IDEA As Joe said! your already there! the whole shmeer has to come out to accomplish this feat! Just my take on these guys! I don't like it how ever that's the way things have gone ! And its not only VOLVO/Mack!
-
Well sorry to hear this! That said the price quoted is correct! Nasty but true ! You definitely need to look into it and in my opinion have it towed to the experienced dealer as is let them do the whole job diagnostics and all! Nothing worse than getting a job that someone else has started! just sayin!
-
Hope the weight savings was worth having a pressed together cam!? Another dumb ass move by the Volvo turds! So happy to be away from this dumb ass junk! I must say the dollar store fuel system seems to be working OK much to my surprise! Thanks for posting your observations MP!

Yup funny how things go rash of this and a rash of that! Eup bolts were chronic for a bit ! Must of gone to a dollar store bolt for a bit !Similar to the fuel line fiasco! Dumb ass move on macks part! Fan hub bearings cratering for the first bit on the AI engines ! the berr fan hubs on the AC ! Tried to get by with the lowest bid on stuff ! some times there is a reason to pay a bit more for shit! That said whos to know what's good what's not! till you try it! -

You will need every gear ! 🤣I had opportunity to work one of these on a site job for a week ! You really get a work out shifting gears all day! thermal dyne engine ! not to much on power or power band! All I can say it was an experience!!😅 the Note At the bottom of the shift plak there is quite hilarious! You likely would never get into hi gear except on the down hill!🤣 -
This noise should not be overlooked or dismissed By any means ! depending what it sounds like these engines had issues with the bull gear that drives the cam coming loose ! So pay close attention to it! If it is getting worse Get some help! There is the possibility its the clutch bearing however that noise should change with the use of the clutch should go away when the clutch free pedal is used up! (first inch or two of pedal push! Listen to the engine as the compressor cuts in and out! If the noise goes away when the compressor is pumping All is likely OK! Otherwise I sugest u take it to a (TRUSTED ) dealer in your area for a listen! just my opinion!
-
Chester chop you need to change that compressor air filter , Just sayin! As for the charging issue check the big charge wire to the drivers side it had a joint in it right at the box that often caused charging issues! Solder it solid if it hasn't been already!
-
post the year and model for starters!
