  1. Maybe one year after the maxidyne was created cummins tried to build a engine that would used a 5 speed. It was a NHT 270 cut back to 240 at 2100 but with a add on torque tailoring device to the top of the fuel pump it would keed its fuel pressure up there at 1200.But it was a flop.
  2. You can have the maxidyne pump set to what a thermosdyne set would be but not the old thermodyne cause the 187 and turboed 205 HP pumps was not big enough. You can make a ENDT250C engine with out doing no more than resetting the pump but it has to be done by a pump rebuild shop. For the guy that said just leve the pump like it is nothen wrong with that but again like I said you done have no top end power with a ten speed trans.
  3. Never put air in a a/c system.
  4. Hillcrest camshaft and machine.com little rock AR They can grind your cam and rebuild your lifters. I have installed or help install two of them in a friends trucks.
  5. I know what they have told you but the silicone is good on the aluminn cover but if I were you I would go to a gasket place and buy a roll of fiber gasket and get the med thickness and cut you one out.Remenber the front engine mount mounts on the front cover.I would check around for a aftermarket gasket set also. And yes reset the thrust screw.
  6. B61 fred go ahead and have the pump reset to a thermodyne setting and you will be happy. If you don't what happens because of the hi torque rise the maxidyne has is at 2100 under load you hit a hill it will fall down the 1400 real fast then hold there. For a working truck with a ten speed you will be sick of this. With the thermodyne setting if will have the torque more even thru the RPM range and will not fall on it face as fast and will hold up higher rpm longer. There is nothen wrong with keeping it as a maxidyne but just remnber to skip gears when shifting and plus the maxidyne is putting more torque thru that trans than should be.I have been thru this more than once. Also the thermodyne that is in it now will not have the right pump for a ENDT 250C.The barrels and plungers are not big enough.
  7. Thanks for the info you provide so often
  8. It is normal. It is not a automatic as like in your wifes car but a auto shifted manual with a clutch.
  9. You say it has a two speed then is it a mack rear end?If so I have never seen one.
  10. The ISL came from the 8.3 C model design.Just more cubit inches. It also could tale a jake brake.I know one trhing that they have good power for a med duty truck.
  11. In most cases if you just stand there and loosen up and tighten maybe ten times it will stop.Doing that seats it if it can be helped. But don't over tighten it.
  12. When you change from one brand trans then it will cost even more due to having to by a core and a set of engine mounts which are different plus a shifter knob and maybe drive line work. Also a shifter stick would have to be purchased.
  13. Are you installing the factory insulators and brackets to hold them in place? If not then don't wonder why they are breaking.
  14. Like be said it will kill the engine unless you turn the dash switch off
  15. 550 plus???
  16. 34571155 That is a 1988 L10
  17. Rick got me one a couple years back.
  18. I am going to play like that it is a mack engine so if so it will be a straight pipe fitting. So just get both hands on it.A crows foot and extension works some times better.
  19. But cummins do have a L10 which is not nothen to do with mack. The M11 took its place.
  20. I forgot but I can not copy and paste on this site. But it is a NTC 290 in its first life.Made july 28 1973 but a 290 did not have a after cooler so it means the engine you have is a mixed matched of parts.
  21. Look for a 8 digit # in the block in the front left side above the acc drive and then post it then I can tell you the info you want.
  22. What does your exhaust temp run and how much boost are you running? If you don't have thoses gauges in it don't play with your engine any more. You now have enough fuel to it to damage the engine if your not carefull.
  23. The turboed engine has not got piston coolers and also the turboed engine do not have a snyovance for advanicing the timing. It will have a oil cooler.
  24. Why don't guys that don't know trucks just take a photo of the parts before they start removing anything?
