  1. I cant help you on this cause i have not had much dealings with the etech.I can remember three trucks i have worked on with that engine.
  2. I have always went with the ideal of more than 2 degrees of timing is too much.Another way to look at it is would you use someones Specs over the factory which has to stand behind the engine for years and has built many more than any of us.
  3. Depends on what trans you have. For a eaton or roadranger use a 50W engine oil and for a mack trans use a 90W rear end grease or multipurpose'The eaton will hold from 29 to 31 pints.
  4. 5 degree difference is too close.Go 10 degrees higher on the shutter and look at it this way.If they are same or too close your shutter will stay open too long or all the time then you engine is trying to heat the engine and all of the time your fan is trying to cool what your engine is trying to do so in the end your just trying to heat up the world. go a min
  5. what you need to do is get some one with a reader plug in and go down the road with it and watch and see if you loose the VSS signal.

  9. If working on trucks was easy ever body would be doing it.Hang in there
  10. It may not be fueling or in a Derate mode due to no VSS signal.
  11. 175 may be hard to find because that is a little cold for the shutters to open.I would want the thermostat to be 175 or 180 and the shutters to open at 185 to 190.
  12. Welcome to the forum. There is a lot of info here so set down and stay with us.
  13. The flat side down but you who have found out when installing trans cause the fingers on the release fork would not went over the brg. Also put the grease hose on the trans side of the clutch fork shaft and not on the flywheel side.
  14. I have made them for cat, cummins and DD but have not for a mack cooler.I learned many years ago when you can test dont guess.
  15. 20 to 25 psi
  16. To find the coolant leak on the oil you need to pull the pan and pressure the coolant system and let set till coolant leaks from inside on to the floor.
  17. If you run it with coolant in the oil it with spin main brgs and rod brgs. You better rethink this over real well.It will not last long. When a rod or main spins it a block and crank for sure.
  18. They were all 672 CI untill the E7
  19. different magnetic properties of cast iron relating to aluminium That is what i am wondering about.
  20. Yes we made sure the sensor drilled hole was located in same spot on both housings. The one nonVMAC engine or i have two that has the RPM sensor on the left side counting flywheel teeth. We have changed sensors from one truck to the other and did remove sensor and the sensor is looking at 6 slots in the flywheel. No one here at mack knows if they used a cast iron flywheel or not on a VMAC but that is all that is left that i can think of.I put a new engine wire harness on also.We set the sensor closter and farther away from the flywheel and same code. The engine will run with that sensor connected or not with no change in the sound.
  21. Does anyone of you ever remember seeing a VMAC 2 with a cast iron flywheel housing?I replaced a aluminum housing with a cast iron housing from a non VMAC engine and now i dont get a RPM/TDC reading and have a code of 32 190 FMI 2.
  22. You cant get too many grounds on a truck.
  23. Joey back when i was still working a man brings his older freightliner in the shop for a problem but the tech that draws the job did not know the cab had been changed to a from a newer truck. The tech had over a hour standing there looking at his laptop that was connected to a dead diag plug that was dead and not connected to anything.I was not there but some say he got around to raising the hood to find a old cummins under there.
