  2. Buddy used to call our friend at the parts store and ask for the yellow wire with the blue tracer on it from a 1967 volkswagon.....
  3. You'll only need one battery box with it being 12v. It will start easily with just two batteries in parallel. Keep the box on the passenger side and run the cables up under the frame and up to the starter. Go with big cables! I think mine were 4/0? (Mine has air start now so I removed all the big cables).
  4. Drivers side was a 50 gallon and it stuck back past the rear of the cab. I used two 40s to allow dual stacks on my truck. The brackets are the same.
  5. Ya, looks like 4 spring to me. I've never heard of any real complaints about it? What is the deal with it?

  11. I still have all the budd hubs for my rear axle. Guess maybe I need to start poking around for front hubs that I can convert my 517 axle?
  12. Great job. I never even contemplated doing the machine work to get hubs on like that. I have access to all the equipment to do it. It basically is just making the old bearing spacing fit the newer hubs.
  13. I hope that old starter valve works okay for you. I wanted to use the one I had for my starter but was warned against it because of air leaks. I used a new air button on the dash and tank mounted valve and it holds 100# of air for 6 months. I'll be curious to hear how well yours works.

  15. One thing I found out was I had to grind the width of the spring slightly to allow it to slip in the rear mount. When it was rolled, it was slightly flattened/widened and just didnt quite fit. Not a big deal.

  18. Saw a news report stating statistics about ICUs being full blah, blah, blah, then they had a disclaimer at the bottom of the chart saying 80% of ICU patients were not COVID related. No sheet. People do go there and die from natural freakn causes. Wonder how many people actually read that small script?
  19. The early v8s(865,866), was it just owners over fueling them that caused failures? Or just not a strong enough platform to live long?
  20. I'm thinking that was a site dump truck. Never seen salt in Jousey?? Double frame that isnt spread?? What a deal for the money if the cab isnt all bondoed up. I bet that thing barks pretty good with that pipe! I love the sound of my 237.
  21. Had a 427 ford engine that had collapsed filter. It read 60 psi before the filter. Changed the oil and suddenly there was no oil pressure. Reinstalled the old filter and 60 psi! Found out an oil galley plug had popped out, thus not much pressure at idle with such a large internal leak. The old Fram filter had collapsed and was creating a false pressure reading. I think the pump relief had stuck shut, blowing the filter up, popping the welch plug, then relieved itself. Leaving the engine with no real oil pressure. We dont know how it survived all the driving it had on it til we found the problem. This was in the red Willys that I was doing all the repair work on a few years back for a friend. As for oil pressure. It is there to keep the wedge of oil in the bearings so there is no metal contact. Lugging an engine has nothing to do with valvetrain. The early Mack thermodyne engines could not be lugged. It would pound the bearings out along with cracking the mains. They were not designed for that until later on(maxidyne engines).
