  1. Very similar to my Bentz bunk. If I recall the latches were similar to AMC cars. Might look there for something?
  2. Interesting project. I'm curious now if those were direct drive, full time pumps(likely).
  3. Fantastic work! I love that chase seen. I do have to laugh how slow that old chebby pickup is if that DM could keep up. LOL.
  4. Mine had 4.62 also, now 4.11. I did the gears before the 237 install or I would have stayed with the 3.70s that were in the air ride rear when I bought it. Single od triplex, 4.10, 11r22, runs 65 at around 1800.
  5. They had Cummins laid on their sides.
  6. Would be cool to put in my B model. The old 237 would never hurt it. But distance and cost to "fix" would likely make it a moot point. I'd love to learn how to tear into one.
  7. I took a quick trip in Kens MH a couple years back while at Gerharts show. Short, spring ride single axle wasn't hateful at all. Much nicer then my B model!!
  8. I'd go by 673C on front cover. Valve covers are easy to swap. Someone could have put oil filter and cooler on from a 237? I put spin on filters on my 673 NA motor. Bolts right on.
  9. Neat piece for sure. I saw it come up on facebook a few days back. Value is a hard thing to place on a vehicle. A lot depends on your location and who happens to want it. Just saw a post on FB about a full frame off B61 sold for $15k(A steal).
  10. Sad, but try to find something as reliable and nice as that in todays market. Something new would be double that and nothing but computer headaches.
  11. Sounds awesome! I put turnouts on my truck because I got really tired of the slobbery drool out of the pipes on start up. With the wind from the back it would drizzle down the doors or windshield! Ugh. I love old motors but are they messy!
  12. I had local supplier scan my glovebox door 20 yrs ago. I painted my heater and it matched well. Seems it came back as a Volvo code at the time. That little pint can is long gone now. I agree, I think there were plenty of shade variations back then and many people think theirs is the right one.
  13. My balancer was missing on 237, but I think it is too long and will hit crossmember. The R model has much more room behind the radiator and the pulleys stick out farther. Thus the waterpump needs changed also.
  14. I put a 237 in mine also. Simple swap from the 673. Just changed waterpump and balancer. I still run a triplex. I have the big radiator and does fine with my 30k lbs.
  15. Right front frame rail, behind axle. The door tag "should" match that. My truck is a real piece meal and the door tag doesn't match the frame.
  16. Didn't realize they used that same handle for multiple transmissions.
  17. Single stick 6 spd? Looks like a 12 spd handle.
  18. Same owner as the red/white B. I did a quick lookover and can't recall what it has? Just glanced under front end(hood never open).
  19. Lots of freight lines used 237 to run the road so it will get the job done. Not quick, but reliable. Friend ran asphalt for years with a tandem R with a 237. Made him lots of money. No comparison to 600 hp of todays trucks, but no payment each month! As for shredding the 13 spd? Keep the rpms up. My old triplex doesn't like the 237 either but I shift at 1500 rpm and it doesn't bang on the gearsets.
  20. Both Bs came together from one fellow on a trailer. I know the red/white one was at Harrisonburg, VA national convention so I would start there with a name from the showtime. I can look it up if you like when I get home.
  21. Ya, we had a good show overall. Perfect weather. Next year the show will be the following weekend so as to not interfere with Macungie. Something we have been trying to do for a few years. The new manager at ACF was happy to accommodate, compared to the previous one. I runnered up in the slow race against Earls super slo mo KB12. It has 9.xx rear gears and the idle set to near nothing! Bubba Davis in his backwards F3 crane truck came after me first round thinking he would knock me out. He was wrong! LOL. The ol B is pretty slow for a road tractor. We had about 50 trucks on the dinner cruise. I think the final overall count was 258 for the weekend. We have had over 300 in the past. Pictures above: John DeChants Tridrive. Don Burge Pete. Doug Fetterly R model. Dennis Campbell G model. Video fron Dane Scott, Truckers Lounge:
  22. I had to remove my block heater on my 673 to install screw on filter housing. Ya, what a PITA that was to get that insert out after 60 yrs. Luckily the screw in plug I replaced it with sealed okay.
  23. Agree, for $10k you got a decent buy. Not sure what all is wrong with it but the combination of parts is likely worth it.
  24. My .02. Find another truck with the power you want. Thats a 2 valve Maxidyne motor. Good reliable motor. Collecting all the parts to upgrade will be be more then just repowering it if you can find a good 315hp version. Not sure how safely you can go up with HP on that 2 valve engine? There are guys on here that can give you that info. It should have a 5 spd. I put a 237 in my B and run a 15 spd triplex. I like being able to split gears even though you are not supposed to need to.
