  1. B61"3" denotes a turbocharged 673. Front Axles difference: Both are grease. I think they are different weight axles, thus different caps.
  2. With my little aingle axle, when I have flipped the wet road valve it really kills the braking power overall. I've tried it on occasion on an empty road.
  3. Is be curious to see what the actual gallon size my tank is? It is an alum tank from an R model. One of the larger ones I've seen, length wise. It's hanging under the bunk in my signature picture. I've see ones that are near 1/2 as long as mine.
  4. I can get 8-9 seconds of cranking on a full tank. Since mine lives indoors all winter I haven't had the need to see if it will start in the cold anymore. This video, I only had like 80# in the tank to start with and it starts faster then you can release the button. I may, just for giggles, leave it out in the dead cold one night this winter just to see how it starts, unaided.
  5. Notice the cold air version, the tubes are side by side. Most of the tip turbine air cleaners the tubes are up/down.
  6. I just looked at a picture of my truck with the engine out and the TOB cross shaft is across the bottom with the tabs sticking upward to grab TOB. So if you see the cross shaft, it is a bottom picture. Mine had no CB. It does take 4-5 seconds to get it in gear after the clutch was released in neutral. If it takes 20 seconds, then it is not releasing far enough. There is a sequence to follow to get it set up properly. I would start with making sure the TOB is not riding the levers with the pedal all the way up. That would show it is not riding it/causing it to slip driving down the road.
  7. I put air assist on my truck a few years ago. Some people hate it, I say it's better then nothing. It has its quirks, but overall it is fine. Like air starter, you have to maintain it to a degree or it will cause grief. I put air start on mine also. New valves, new lines. Works like a charm and holds air for 6 months without a problem.
  8. Ahhhh so. Thanks. At first I thought it was something I did but spoke with fellow BMTr on Sunday and he was having issues also.
  9. If you leave the twin disc clutch? Mine had single disc, so it bolted right in.
  10. There's an understatement....LOL. Looks like a Beast!
  11. Anyone else have issues getting on here for a few days? It showed problems and my phone suggested I not continue.
  12. The 673T is just 205 hp. The ENDTC is 250 hp. Neither have intercoolers. Non turbo 673 is 170-185 hp depending on which intake it has. Bobtailing you won't really notice much. My old 673 with no turbo would scoot along quite well.
  13. Bob, TRT is a triplex. TRQ would be quad box. I don't know the number designation for big or small boxes? Yours would be TRTL. The "L" is for lightweight (alum case).
  14. No issues with my 237 install. I have right side starter. I put a 2 filter spin on the old 673, so I knew the 237 would fit fine.
  15. I kept the stock vent lines on my new Alumitanks.
  16. I used to have a Katz circulation heater in my 70 F100 way back. Worked awesome. You put a fitting in bottom of the block(water passage) and then the feed line to heater. It pulled from bottom of block, heated it and then ran it through the heater. It had thermostat so it only ran as needed. Yes, starting the B in the cold you held the throttle WFO until it started to cough and run on 2 cylinders. It would then keep catching cylinders and run fine.
  17. Mine was in the center core plug on drivers side. I had to remove it when I installed the spin on filters due to clearance issues and the cord. If I recall mine had teminals and cord just screwed on. When I first got my truck, it sat outside for a couple winters. At 19* I tried starting it. Besides a bit of cranking it came to life with no assistance. I had four 12v batteries so it would crank for days and never slow down. Now it is a garage queen. I am curious if the air start would get it running with no assistance if it sat outside one night.
  18. I'd say yes. I know about stepping on polished alum tanks. I love mine, but what a pita to keep looking nice, even with the minimal driving mine gets.
  19. You made a post in another forum about a quad from a gasser and putting a diesel in front of it. I thought that is what you had. My mistake.
  20. The one thing you would have to do IF you swapped the whole drivetrain is hang the R clutch pedal in your cab. It's a cable pull clutch so it would not work with your existing pedal arrangement(push style). If you have the baby quad in your truck I would recommend swapping the drivetrain. I do fine with my Triplex but it is much stronger(though still limiting).
  21. Before I would start buying engine kits, I would look around for a 237. Find a running engine for the cost of a rebuild and have more power to boot. Granted, even a 237 is getting hard to find in decent shape. I was REAL lucky when I walked into mine for $300! Even if I did have to do a bit of work on it.
  22. I keep Power Service in my truck and give it a dose at every fill up. Anything is better then nothing for these old engines.
  23. Transfer pump should be no problem to get. Two bolts and a couple lines to get it off. Does it have a primer pump on it? The two plastic check valves could be stuck on it from sitting. Easy to unscrew the pump and clean things up. Like Toms says...pretty simple to diagnose.
  24. Ya, my local shop still magna fluxes parts. U shaped electromagnet and metal dust.
  25. My 673 did not have an oil cooler. My chassis is newer but not sure if the engine was original to it? The 237 came from a fire engine, not sure if that matters. I never looked in the housing to see if there is a thermostat.
