  1. Ford knew how to build a class 8 truck back then. Not sure what happened with the W series.
  2. And you didn't burn of drop of cow piss DEF!
  3. I saw a Superliner parked at a rest area early this morning that had the same stripes/colors as your blue and white one but it had a sleeper. It was dark but there was just enough light to see that the truck was immaculate. I hope to see it again.
  4. I don't think this person intended to be critical of Mack. It's obvious that English is a second language to him so he may have been misunderstood. He simply wanted to know why older Macks had lower horsepower ratings than other manufacturer's engines and I believe his question was answered in part with the wheels vs. flywheel comparison. Mack pioneered the high torque rise engine and it took several years for Cummins, Cat, and Detroit to follow suit. A 237 hp "Maxidyne" had more torque than a 335 Cummins and it reached it's peak torque at a lower rpm. While the 335 hp Cummins driver is frantically grabbing gears trying to keep his rpms up when climbing a hill, the driver of the "underpowered" 237 hp Mack is sipping his coffee and wondering if he will downshift or just stay in 5th gear to pass the Cummins.
  5. Very nice collections and a great variety of stuff, too. Excellent work on the H model, Mark!
  6. A DM800 with those specs is the perfect truck for the job, any job.
  7. Welcome! I'm the head of the not-so-valuable-info dept.
  8. The 9500 appears to be a long hood?? Not a whole bunch of those built either. All of the Roadway U626/773's I've seen had steel budd wheels. ABF ran green GMC's and is from AR so maybe?? Something makes me think the original owner had a large fleet.
  9. That has always been my favorite of the factory paint schemes for the Cruiseliner, but I've only seen a few that had it.
  10. Welcome, and beautiful truck!
  11. "Got Legroom?"
  12. Nice catch and photo. Being able to spell "biggenize" is half the battle. That's one advantage I have working at night, no one can see me. The downside is that all my pictures come out black.
  13. Okay, time to see a shrink. The fact that I am turned on by these photos cannot be a good thing. I've seen a few steel dash FL/FS interiors that have been painted (from the factory, apparently) to match the exterior. I think that's a big improvement to the overall appearance, especially with the white steering wheel.
  14. I'll bet that R model was quite a looker in it's younger days. It's ashame to see a CL700 going to waste.
  15. You do have a good eye for detail. I would've seen the "61" on the side and said "okay, 1961 it is". Prolly what they did but a great looking truck nonetheless. Would've been nice to see the Marmon. I'd say it and the B model will be moving to a new home in the near future.
  16. "THE DART ADVANTAGE" That's the home of a former O/O that attempted to break into the business via their Lease Purchase program. I wonder was it was about the 53' on the side that made them think it was 54 feet long.
  17. No such thing as too much info on BMT (okay there have been a few exceptions that I'd rather not discuss). Is there any way to adjust the shift points on your KW? I thought it was possible to make adjustments in the computer to suit the owner's preferences.
  18. 500 hp Cummins. That oughta get you to the fire a few minutes ahead of the smoke.
  19. Welcome to BMT and thanks for saving the AC from the scrapper.
  20. It looks as if the holes are there to allow for more air to reach the radiator. The Ebay truck has a 292 c.i. engine but in 1958 the engines up to 534 c.i. were available. My source: http://fordofwestmemphis.blogspot.com/2009/01/1950-1959-ford-trucks.html
  21. Ahh yes, there it is. You nekkid, you stay in cabover.
  22. Welcome Back! I feared the worstest worst, figgered a buzzard flew by and dropped a hog on your head.
  23. Is this cause for concern? One big fleet purchase could skew the numbers in Mack's favor. July could've been "Swift" month.
