  1. Congratulations. No excuses for ignoring the Missus now. Mrs Dash says I never listen, but I don't see any audio-orgasms in my future. Who gets to hold the remote?
  2. Blue..no..Red..ahhhhhhhh! Monty Python reference I prefer green on any green interior trucks. For the later years, I kinda prefer red but any color is good, as long as it's accompanied by black spoke wheels and a touch of chrome.
  3. W....T....F!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sounds like a great idea, but I can't afford the shrinkage. I'm on top of a hill so we'll hang out on the porch and prolly pull some neck muscles trying to simultaneously watch the fireworks provided by 5 neighboring communities. I suspect some grilling might occur too. Happy Independence Day!
  4. I have my ways of obtaining information. Sorry to disappoint you so soon after your return. I deserve a pounding.
  5. I'm guessing that wasn't Cummins' intention when they marketed it. What tranny did the Astro's have. I read an article in one of the trucking rags, possibly Fleet Owner, where they did a report on a then new UPS Astro. It was similar to an Overdrive dissection report, but the focus was on the modifactions that were done to factory trucks to bring them up to UPS standards. All I remember was the emphasis on noise control and that the engine had been derated to 255 hp. I'm pretty sure it was a Cummins.
  6. I'm familiar with the elevations of both Carthage and Glenfield, NY as well as the entire length of the NY/PA border and the elevations of all locales in between. There is an approximately 3.14159265 foot decrease in elevation as you head south (down).
  7. Well, that's a neat find and still looks good.
  8. I know they had much higher torque than other engines of similar hp in it's day, except the Maxidyne. I've seen numbers somewhere in the 900-1000 lb range which is right there with an NTC-350 of the same era. If you're familiar with Brockway's Huskidrive, that's the engine they used to compete with the Maxidyne. They put in in front of a 5 speed with a 2 speeed (5.05/3.70) rear axle and instructed you to use low speed on the rear and flip a switch for high speed when in 5th. That says something of it's capabilities. I've seen them quite a bit in vocational trucks in front of Fuller 8ll's and 7 speed Spicers. When my Dad used to haul bananas, another company from the bronx had a PT-270 and a 13 spd Roadranger in a Diamond Reo. He would have no problem keeping up with us in a K100 with an NTC-350. We had similar loads, both grossing in the low 70's on the NY Thruway between Albany and NYC. This is my only perspective having never driven a truck with one myself. I had always thought that PT was an abbreviation for Power Torque, but have seen that argued on other forums.

    Rob:

You missed the most intelligent, compassionate, witty, and downright handsome-est group of folks you've ever known and have come to realise that you've never been happier in life than you are when on BMT. No need to respond, the feeling's mutual.
  10. A still photo and I still had to turn the sound down. I'll second that. As a driver I always enjoyed having one under the hood/cab and I think they must have set some records when it comes to reliability. Detroit Diesel saved their own asses big time with that one.
  11. 1.If you are underground in PA, then you won't have to go up to PA because you are already there. 2.If you are underground in NY, you would have to come up to the surface, and go down to PA. 3.If you plan on tunneling across the border, see #1. It appears you may have already tried to go UP to PA. They speak that language across the border.
  12. I agree, absolutely beautiful. You can use the edit feature to add to or change an existing reply or you can add a new reply to your own original thread. This works fine too!
  13. Those are 2 beautiful trucks, Skip.
  14. Good to see there were some classics there. Your phone takes decent quality pics.
  15. You had a good sense of adventure. I enjoyed travelling some of those roads when I was with Shuster's, but only under the following conditions: Clear day. Dry roads. Light load. Don't need to be anywhere in a hurry. Pee'd and pooped at my last stop. Truck will stop when I need it to and go when I want it to. Somewhere to pee and poop along the way. I get to see some awesome scenery that many Americans feel they need to travel outside the country to see. I don't encounter local truckers that like to run these roads as if they were interstates. I'm confident that I didn't make a terrible mistake by going that way. As you can see, I'm very adventurous myself.
  16. You have to go down (so to speak) to get to PA. Up will put you in some foreign country.
  17. The boys are coming over for a big poker game. I'd better rustle up some pierogies... He'll have to use Chicken Wire that's made from real chickens. At this point, Rabbit Wire would probably work fine. I live on the border of a borough and a township-lots of houses in front of me and nothing behind me. My street is the turn around point for those rabbits who prefer a rural lifestyle, which seems to be the majority of them. I've had no problems with them getting into anything and they don't even mess with my neighbor's berries. As a matter of fact the the deer and the outdoor cats don't get into anything either, they just keep to themselves and peacefully co-exist. it's like a scene from Snow friggin' White, just lucky I guess.
  18. Your first to the party this time. Good Job, Bob. Happy Birthday , Gentlemen!
  19. Glad to hear you made it back in one (albeit smaller) piece. As you can see, we respectfully preserved your thread, deleting all but the most sensitive and intelligent replies.
  20. Here's a quick recap of all the train wrecks featured in this thread so far....
  21. Nice shot of the WV capitol building. I only see it at night, but it looks good in the dark also. Love the leg shots but for some reason, I associate a cell phone on a girl's lap with texting which ticks me off. I'm really becoming a cranky old fart. Dickheads on bicycles who think sharing the road=hogging the road piss me off more than girls with awesome legs and phones on their laps. Any VIN numbers on the DM's?
  22. Good to see another G in decent shape. The LJ looks like it was a sharp looking ride in it's day.
  23. Good deal. I tend to think that if there were a problem, we would've have heard something by now.
  24. My shed is 7 inches closer to the property line than it should......wait a second.......80 FRIGGIN' FEET? I guess finding them a user manual for their tape measure would be a good start.
  25. Congrats on 25 years! I'd say the 2 of you are clearly made for one another. BTW, that is one beautiful R model.
