  1. Good to hear some positive news!
  2. That's one hell of a grip you have on that bottle. If I tried to open my hand that wide, my skin would split. Thank goodness I never have to.
  3. I did a 495 mile triangle from Washington, PA to Cumberland, MD to Harrisburg PA and back home Wednesday night. The only action on that run was again at Cooper's Rock, which I didn't pass through. Last night, I crossed the scale on westbound I-80 in OH, just west of the PA line. No DOT there. I have e-logs. I can pull up everything from a summary to a complete 8 day recap on my PeopleNet screen. If the boys prefer to see a log page, I can pull one up in seconds, provided they have internet access.
  4. You're a better man than I am.

I'm glad you posted this. I have to admit however, I thought this was going to have something to do with you bringing home an Autocar.
  7. I was about to post the " ....worthless without pics!" smiley when I suddenly became overcome with nausea. I felt as if I were right there as I was reading that. That's the sign of a talented author.
  8. And since many of them do not fully understand HOS regulations, there's less chance of a screw-up with the little trucks.
  9. The Mack is right there with the 1932 1933 1934 Peterbilt Kenworth. As for jaw dropping eye candy, my theory is that there was a supermodel standing in the middle of the street, as supermodels do, when she was run over by some gadawful, yellow-and-primer grey contraption. I'm surprised the photographer didn't notice.
  10. Compliance to the 30 minute break after 8 hours rule is not required until July 1, 2013. WVDOT was setting up at Cooper's Rock on I-68 when I went through at exactly midnight Monday. They were going strong when I passed by again 6 hours later on my second trip. PA was up and running At the Kirby Rest Area on I-79 by sun up. They were also very well staffed. I made eye contact with no one.
  11. The green, single axle R model reminds me of the hundreds of those I had seen as a kid. Those are my favorite finds at truck shows.
  12. Here are some thoughts of mine (this won't take long). The first I had heard of this tranny is when the "Big 3" truck engine manufacturers decided to follow Mack's lead and develop high torque rise engines in the mid 70's. I wonder if the engine it was behind was the "Fuel Squeezer" 8V-71TT? It seems that a traditional 8V-71 may struggle a bit with only 9 speeds but there were other bad decisions made in those days, such as mating a 6 speed Spicer with a DD 6V-92TT. I remember reading complaints in Overdrive magazine from drivers about that setup, mostly regarding too big a step between gears. The 9509 should have the same ratios as the low and direct gears of an RT/RTO-9513, basically a 13 speed without the ability to split the top four gears. As far as putting it behind your old gasser-that's a bit out of my league.
  13. You may have to mount the power steering pump towards the back so it can drive off the rear axle, it would be a bit tight under the hood. Aside from that, I'd say it's doable.
  14. I believe it's a federal thing, but you're okay with no tractor flaps when pulling a trailer.
  15. Sorry 'bout that. If you go directly to the site, you can zoom in to frightening proportions. http://images58.fotki.com/v612/filehvzc/1bdee/5/117425/10063135/January1969Runnersup1.jpg
  16. I have nothing against the V-12 Detroits, but that's funny. mmmmmm...filet mignon.....
  17. I thought B model at first, but there is an L series posted in the ATHS 2012 with that sleeper, so I'd say it probably came off the owners wrecked LJ.
  18. Lotsa lotsa lotsa lotsa lotsa lotsa U models to equal that price.
  19. From the January 1969 issue of Overdrive magazine.
  20. Seriously! How could you miss a passenger door from an F series Ford that is sitting right in front of whatever all that other crap is?
  21. Proof that ribs and corn is brain food.
  22. I don't know if this information also applies to the M-Drive, but here is an interesting article regarding gearing and engine speeds of a truck with Volvo's I-Drive. http://www.volvotrucks.com/trucks/na/en-us/news_and_events/news_releases/_layouts/CWP.Internet.VolvoCom/NewsItem.aspx?News.ItemId=109146
  23. They were doing the nasty in the middle of a busy intersection.
  24. Welcome to Wal*Mart
  25. Two of my coworkers have been warned over the past few years for doing 50 in a 55 coming down the west side of Cooper's Rock, same hill but not quite as steep on I-68. Fortunately, most of LEO's are asleep at night so I've been dealing with that nonsense much less these days. They will sit on the westbound Cooper's Rock on ramp and go after any truck that passes by on the interstate for not making the mandatory stop. When I delivered Wal*Mart groceries for Schneider I once had to go from Oakland, MD to Mount Pleasant, PA. They routed (and paid) us to continue up 219 from Grantsville to the PA TPKE, then over to New Stanton. They didn't trust us on the hill, I reckon.
