  12. Welcome to the Dog House!!! Always looking for others from "Down Under"
  13. According to the SC Dept of Public Safety the defination of "commercial" in CDL is "If the truck and/or the driver receives any form of compensation." They said you can drive any sized vehicle for personal / hobby use on a regular drivers license. I realize each state has they own interpitation of the federal rules so the actual operating rules will vary from state to state.
  14. Sorry I missed ya'all!!! Forgot all about the time with this "Howling Mob" along on Saturday!! But, I did have my ATHS chapter name tag on..
  15. The SCDPS Diesel Cop, Sgt Micheal Still, who attended our chapter meeting last spring defined the word commercial as "The truck OR driver recieving any form of compensation for moving goods" . He also stated that you did not need a CDL to operate a large vehicle as long as there is NO compensation to the truck or driver.. When we asked he said ribbons and trophys do NOT count as compensation, BUT breakfast/dinner or a case of beer DOES!!! Since tractors and farm equipment do not have titles the is no problem hauling your friends stuff, If it is another truck we sort of decided amongst ourselves that a phony bill of sale would solve the explanitions of a routine stop. A fatal accident and you are up sh**ts creek anyhow.
  16. Joe I did NOT know this.. Was just tossing out ideas. I learn something new each day on these forums!! Thanks
  17. What about going to the 24.5 floats in either 385 or 415?? Will they carry the weight this man wants??? Then all he would have to do is buy new rims and tires and bolt them on.. 20 inch tube type= 22.5 tubeless 22 inch tube type= 24.5 tubeless Going to 22.5 would mean changing the spokes the same as Jim Hancock said about 12:00-24 tube type.
  18. I am looking forward to attending this Reunion in August.. Will be there for 3 days.

  21. Just cut off everything south of I-84, let it drift out to sea and SINK!!! Would cure a lot of problems!!
  22. Definately an IH "Compfovision" cab, but with that long hood it could also be a Hendrickson or a Diamond T / REO, or an FWD??
  23. Thanks Barry!! And a nice booth at York also!!
  24. 68 F model: On the Interstate they stick to scale and rest areas where they have room to deadline trucks.. On the back roads it will depend on how active your state boys are?? and where they have the room to park and inspect trucks. Might be worth it to wait til next week!! Paul: In SC on anything with less than a 7500 pound Mfgr unladen weight we can use farm plates for "general and ordinary purposes"..Further than that you must be on farm usage. I have been to Fairbanks Alaska and back with my farm plated F-250. and my neighbor pulls a gooseneck hitch bull wagon to Missouri and back with his Dodge Ram 5500 all the time.
  25. Joe Thanks for the research and update.. Will see you later this week.. Have your fenders loaded, leaving 0500 tomorrow.
