One thing i do with my yota when im pulling my 12' trailer with weight on it ,is,, I will unlock my hubs,  and if im heavy or on a hill, i will start in 1st and low 4 in the transfer case and shift the transfer case from low to high in 1st, then carry on as normal.  Yota becomes a 6 spd at that time. Been doing it for years,  no issues..

Yeah that can be done on the Hi-Lux too.No buttons for the transmission just levers.Front hubs are manual lock too.One thing I notice is you guys call them yotas we call them yodas....The latest Hi-Lux is all buttons.No fun to drive anymore.....

I owned a bunch of old Toyota Land Cruzers the newest was a 1980 fj40 I had a 65 fj45 pickup that I installed a 292 chevy 6 that was heavily modified and a later 4 speed cruzer trans power steering and an air ride seat out of a freightliner I owned an old scout and a jeep station wagon also and an all-wheel drive International 1200 pickup. I now have a ford that you twist a knob for your 4 wheel drive but it does have an electric activated possi rear. For quite a long time I had an M151 army issue jeep the one with all wheel independent suspension it was made by ford if I remember correctly.

Wow sounds like my background… by the time I was around 26? I already owned around 45 vehicles lol … also they were telling me the same thing about the Willy’s jeeps and splitting gears with the transfer stick . Bob

I have a 2005 f150 and I wonder the same thing but I can usually tell by the way the truck turns  but I definitely don’t feel comfortable with the truck aging lol just like me now my heater quit and I’m having trouble running down parts

Mother Nature isn't my concern ; the heart Dr is. be a heck of a note if I go and shovel . and He's right .

CT had 1-2 inches of snow yesterday; then through out the night with another 3=6  later this afternoon till morning. my John Deere 318 sitting at old residence apart. darn gas engines any how.
