I drilled a few more holes and put in a few more screws. I bought more self tapping screws at the hardware store but I'm having better luck with just drilling the holes first then putting the screws in. I'm drilling the holes slightly smaller than the drill bit part on the screws.

I have a few more braces to go to put double screws in, but I don't want to over exert myself. I mowed the back yard earlier and I don't usually work but half a day on Friday anyway, so it's Miller time.

Yes indeed, thanks for the idea. It certainly can't hurt, and it still hasn't creaked, moaned, groaned, or swayed since I tightened the original screws.
