  1. Hotrod, That is one of the most beautiful B models i've ever seen! Sad that we are not neighbors so I can look at it everyday or come over and see it. Thanks for showing it to all of us. mike
  2. Jim, It sure is GREAT! to see the 55 Chevy. I remember them from the good ole day's and how it feels to to be coming up off the ground in each gear. Welcome and good luck on all of your projects. mike
  3. The hoses get warm. The antifreeze is good to plus 10 degrees. I have a new 7 lb. radiator cap. This past weekend I started it and let run for a 15 minutes or so. Asked my girl friend to search for a piece of plywood to put in front of the radiator, and she did. The temp never rose on the gauge. Back when I brought it home from the shop, it did get up to about 140 degrees. I have not taken the top cap off the thermastat hosing to see if it has one or not. I hope it does. mike
  4. Thanks Larry, I'll try that. Also if shutterstat is bad, can it be salvaged or can it be bought? mike
  5. Robert, Disregard the phone # previously. I do have the correct # it is Jack Bunton toll free # 1-800-233-6934 and web is www.ramengine.com mike
  6. Robert, What about Vintage Engine Machine Works in Spokane, WA. with Jack Burnton 1-800-233-9934 or 8834 my notes were copies from other people. Hope this works for you. His e-mail is ramremfg@aol.com mike
  7. Larry, I had better watch what I say because the old truck might be listening. But a newer temp gauge had been installed, I noticed. The shutters are not working. The person before me disconnected the pin. I'll need to get my girl friend to start it so I can watch the arm movement. I don't know if this engine uses a thermastat. If so, can I purchase one from my local Mack Dealer? ( Last Resort ) If I get any deeper with the subject i'll have to start calling you on the phone to explain the rest. I do not have a good enough manual yet, i'm still checking ebay on a regular basis. I purchased a while back a E6/ 672 engine manual. mike
  8. Good to hear from you Larry. I believe in running what the person before me ran if possible. I bought a gallon of Rotella SAE 30 back in Sept. but have not used it. I would think this engine is gummed up also because, it is running cold or rather luke warm by touching the radiator hoses and radiator when its running. The temp gauge is not registering. I've also thought about using the Marvel Mystery Oil, say 2 gallons along with SAE 30 and help do a gradual clean inside. mike
  9. Glad to hear things are back to normal. Keep us posted of the longevity of the truck. mike
  10. I know this question has been asked before but, I needed a little more clairification. I looked through some of the former topics in this site about engine oil but could not find a real definite answer for this engine. Before the final sale of the truck I own, I asked what oil was being used and they said SAE 30 weight. I was shown the gallon jug of Delvac 1300 15w40 but still not sure as to what oil to use, since this oil is not on most shelves. Can I get an analysis somewhere local of my oil and go from there on what oil to use? I would like to use what most trucks use today but, not at an engine breakdown expense. Will someone help me with this decission? Thank You!!! mike
  11. Lou's B Model looks great. Thanks Barry for showing it on this site. mike
  12. Well it's going to be a bit different this year for my mother and I. It will be the first time without a father. He passed away October 30... almost a month ago. It's like a myth. My girlfriend has asked mom and I to have thanksgiving lunch at her brothers home. I hope all goes well with mom. I worry about her. Although we think of the troops overseas, the people less fortunate, the worldly problems........ We still have GOD... that means more than anything else. He sure has blessed me well. Even when I thought I could not take anymore problems...... He was always present and accounted for... JUST CALL ON HIM. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!! mike
  13. Hey Mike, I'll have to backup what Herb said. If the rear grease had a bad odor it was past due on a change. Was the vent open and did you pull something overrated for the truck? It's possible that when you checked the grease level it was low. Sometimes we get in a hurry or when the grease is hot you can get an over run makes one think the level is full. Keep us posted. Good Luck! mike
  14. Got to remember that many polititions own diesels and their little boys trucks also. mike
  15. Welcome to the Best Group of fellows and to our "MACK WORLD", we try to entertain and be informative. Fall in and be counted, enjoy the ride!............. We are still looking for our MASTER GURU.. he's abandoned us.... we love him soooo much...tahehehe mike
  16. Since you have asked the question about putting a turbo on the 711. I believe Glenn and myself are asking what are you using your truck for? Is it going to be used for pulling a huge load, or be used for truck pulls, truck drag racing, or just be an occasional truck show? Turbo's are for making power. If you don't need enormous power, then a turbo is just another item for conversation and for future problems to arrive. I've got some cigars I can send you if you have money to lite them with. mike
  17. Rob, You might lubricate it with a little vasoline. It works wonders on all kinds of rubbery things. Just don't use too much, that stuff is difficult to get off easily. mike
  18. Where did Rob go?....... He left with no reply....... that's not like him. Oh well, he must have had a honey do list pitched at him or went back to the house. mike
  19. Hey Rusty, Best thing to do is buy the hose, if need be flair the ends. Make sure to put clamps or nuts on first. Use some of that fro ingenuity. Keep us posted. mike
  20. Barry and Guys, I appreciate your many hours of work in helping people like myself. I especially thank you for having the patience, knowledge and experience that many of us like myself did not get the opportunity to recieve. If it were not for my father and brother, I would not be sending you this note. Because they taught me most of what I know about this field. Thank You! mike
  21. I've been needing a chunk with ratios of 4.56, etc. Do you have this one for sale? mike
  22. Man, You could add a snorkle to the Mack's air cleaner, you may be able to get better mileage, sound good, and speed may increase. Keep us posted in the project. P.S. Wet suits are the biggest expense you'll probably have! mike
  23. If I may throw my 2 cents worth in then, I go along with Glenn because if you are talking about a stock engine then its best to stay with some restriction. All stock and some modified engines run best as test results have shown us for many years with some kind of muffler. Its called reversion. Its has to do with sound waves coming from the header pipe or pipes. Tests have shown some mufflers work better than others. We all LOVE the naturally aspirated engines or we would be begging for the electric motors to power our vehicles. But...... If you want to be deaf early in life then go ahead and blow them eardrums out. One thing that I dislike is to talk to a person when all they can say to me is HUH, every time I speak to them. Most of the time I walk off, and think to myself that person is dumber than dog crap. And they won't listen to me or anyone else even if they were not deaf. Happy Sound Waves To You! mike
  24. Double D..... The Grover Products air horn kit is $28.00 + Uncle Sam. Call your local Dealer, he should be able to send you to a Grover Products supplier in your home town or city. Or you can go on line and call Grover. They can help you find a local business that will send you in the right direction. Regards mike
  25. I hope this helps, it has with me. Try www.bendix.com or call 1-800-247-2725 they can help with your needs. Best Regards! mike p.s. It helps us if you can tell us your first name when you write in for questions.
