  1. Man, You could add a snorkle to the Mack's air cleaner, you may be able to get better mileage, sound good, and speed may increase. Keep us posted in the project. P.S. Wet suits are the biggest expense you'll probably have! mike
  2. If I may throw my 2 cents worth in then, I go along with Glenn because if you are talking about a stock engine then its best to stay with some restriction. All stock and some modified engines run best as test results have shown us for many years with some kind of muffler. Its called reversion. Its has to do with sound waves coming from the header pipe or pipes. Tests have shown some mufflers work better than others. We all LOVE the naturally aspirated engines or we would be begging for the electric motors to power our vehicles. But...... If you want to be deaf early in life then go ahead and blow them eardrums out. One thing that I dislike is to talk to a person when all they can say to me is HUH, every time I speak to them. Most of the time I walk off, and think to myself that person is dumber than dog crap. And they won't listen to me or anyone else even if they were not deaf. Happy Sound Waves To You! mike
  3. Double D..... The Grover Products air horn kit is $28.00 + Uncle Sam. Call your local Dealer, he should be able to send you to a Grover Products supplier in your home town or city. Or you can go on line and call Grover. They can help you find a local business that will send you in the right direction. Regards mike
  4. I hope this helps, it has with me. Try www.bendix.com or call 1-800-247-2725 they can help with your needs. Best Regards! mike p.s. It helps us if you can tell us your first name when you write in for questions.
  5. You all took the words right out of my mouth in all of the subjects but one........... OH NO !!!! not another ROB. We are still trying to get used to the ONE we have........ LOL Welcome and stay tuned for the next addition of "MEET YOUR MACKS" or is it MATES...... anyway welcome to the sight or site from down over yonder. mike
  6. Rob, You should have invited us up for the BBQ. I had the same problem with cats. Woke up by 15 cats in my yard, under the carport, on top of my prize vehicle. Grabbed my .357, went outside in the buff, took aim, fired, sounded like a cannon going off. And lo and behold missed the cat but it reminded me of a Tom and Jerry cartoon. The cats looked as if they were headed in all directions in a frozen moment, then took off like a flash. Thanks for the info. mike
  7. Sorry about that Guys. I should be more specific. Its the rear axle hubs. mike
  8. Been looking at a pair of chrome hubcaps for my B-Model single axle at my local Pilot Truck Center. All of the foreign caps are what looks like just thrown into a pile but, kindly separated. I was wondering how these are mounted? Have looked for mounting hardware but, have not spotted them inside of any of their bins. Was in Kentucky recently and the Pilot Truck Centers there was the same set-up. No hardware to be found. If I remember correctly the hubs are eight and three-quarter inches in diameter. Thank You mike
  9. Hey Glenn, Our local Mack Dealer told me friday afternoon that it called for a 10lb. but I did not buy from them. The old cap seemed a little weak on the spring but, I thought what do I know. It might not be the right cap for it that was on it when I got the truck. So I got it from NAPA. I have not put it on yet so i'll exchange it for a 7 lb. I do very much appreciate your judgement and help! ....... I will write this info down in the Mack Manual sent to me from the Mack Museum. This is the only resource other than this web-site. Thanking You! mike
  10. I had to replace the radiator cap on the B, just wondered if the cap I bought from NAPA and being a 10 lb. cap is correct for this application? The gentleman at the counter said I may want to go with a 7 lb. cap if my cooling system was needing service. I'm not sure yet. My manual gives no clue. Thank You!! mike
  11. Thanks, I'll never have to watch Lawrence Welk again. My dog even enjoyed it, he's looking at me kind of funny.
  12. Looks like your hard earned DOLLARS going to the bone yard. Or one pile of junk. mike
  13. Yes Sir, I have thought the same thing but I only have a digital camera at this time. It would be easy for someone to take a video of my truck, a person could walk fast enough along side of mine in high fifth........ LOL mike
  14. Rob, I would promote a Fred Flintstone brake job for Tom next time....... LOL mike
  15. something tells me there is more to this story. I guess we'll have to wait. mike
  16. Looks good, But does it work well as a walking platform behind a cab? Also can it be obtained here in the states. Thank you! mike
  17. Thanks Mack Men, I'll give it a try. mike
  18. Since the weather has been good in my region my B model has started up just fine. But my question is..... When the weather goes cold is there a pre- heater to get some heat in the cylinders before start-up? I have a three prong wire out on the front bumper that goes ??? don't know yet. Can someone enlighten me on this subject? Thank You! mike
  19. Shaaaaaaa, Quiet guys. Do you want the Mrs. to hear you? She was recently about to de-seed him for the one's he has now. I guess a trip to Siberia is probably the best medicine.LOL............Rob, can you send a photo of the Mrs. so we fella's may need to help you out someday? LOL mike
  20. This sure is a great looking B Model. Keep on trucking. mike
  21. Larry, Been out of town since friday a.m. gave Mom a weekend away from the problems facing us at this time. Don't think she even knew how to relax, neither did I. I was only curious, not having any buzzing but, maybe I was thinking about an air starter before the start up. I'm not having low air pressure problems. It maintains 90 when braking then, pumps up to 120 and alittle above when on the highway but, i'm getting fuel oil mix when I drain from tank when I get back to the house. Thanks for the offer on the rears and hang on to it for I may need to call you. Can I ask why you changed rear ratios if it's a high gear setup? Thanks mike
  22. Thanks guys for the compliment. Rob those cobbs still work just fine down here. Ben nedun ta git tha Sears an Roebuck catalog back out of tha outhouse check ta see if I can git more of em. A big LOL!!!!!! I agree that I will be keeping the oil hot in the mack, so i'll also be ckecking on rear ratio's but now I'm playing local. I failed to mention on my recent interstate trip the air pump gage showed above 120 psi while driving, but when using brakes the gage would show 90 psi until I let off the brakes. I know the system needs evacuateing of oil and repair. That will be my next project. And yes Larry I do agree with you, looks like the rears need higher ratios 4:11 or 4:56, i'll look to see what I have now. It sure is nice to turn the switch, push the button and she'll fire right up. Question ? Do I recall the Macks having a buzzer sound off when the switch key was turned on before pushing the start button? mike
