  1. If you plan on driving it home I would buy some Lucas power steering stop leak or Lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer and drive it home. with Lucas in there it would be better than just plain 15w-40 oil, may not leak that bad. rebuild it when you get it home just a thought.
  2. Are you going to use the 3 leaf springs from the newer F model if so it should ride better. I did that to my 72 R model and rode better than the stack springs, looks good.
  3. Pittsburg Power has high flow mufflers, don't know about chrome though. you might check with them.
  4. I started driving a semi when I was 16 hauling grain then went over the road for a few years then back to hauling grain, now I am 58 years old and have been working for a county highway dept. in Indiana for 10 years now. I don't miss the bullshit out on the road, when i go to a truck show i have more fun driving to and from the show now than i did in the late 90s into the 2000s trucking, i agree with 41 chevy about Europe.
  5. I think all mech. engines die when you put the jake brake on , the elect. engines go thru the computer to cut them off at maybe 1000rpm so they wont die.
  6. Those little old 672cid. 285hp Maxidynes with the 5 speeds 3.87 rears that I ran would run with or out pull a 855cid. 350hp cummins with a 13 speed. the 237s were hell of a good motors but those old 2 valve 285-300 would keep pulling.
  7. At work we used to run continental 11R 22.5, they had like new tread but the rubber just above the bead would split. they were made in the USA but they were JUNK. now we run Double Coin or Hankook tires in the single axles, Bridgestone 315s on the front of our tandems.
  8. I guess I had the color wrong, I was thinking they had white but must have been the top of the cab I was thinking about.
  9. I think he was talking about the first Maxidyne engines they were gold & white with red pinstripes and had 300 Series on the hood in the stripes. I think they came out 73 or 74 and had a hood scoop.
  10. Mike Doug Fetterly, most of the time he goes to Macungie, he was talking like going to York. I have one of his stainless bumpers and grill guard on my B61 looks stock.
  11. At Macungie the cabs are a shell when they get them and put the wiring, int. and paint them. don't know where they are made.
  12. You can buy ( Grip-Strut ) buy the foot at some metal places, steel or alum. and put ends on them.
  13. OK I guess the spread would be wider for a Canada truck.
  14. Kinda looks like a Canadian spread, unless it has smaller tires.
  15. Sounds like the 2015 IH single axle we picked up Friday, had to go plow snow sunday and by noon it started running bad would not go over 5 mph. wrecker picked it up Monday took it to the dealership got it back Tuesday afternoon loaded with salt & sand it quit again. the wrecker is coming to pick it up again tomorrow, 500 miles on the truck.
  16. I have rebuilt a few E6s that had a slight knock turned out to be small pieces of the rings on top of pistons.
  17. That flywheel has been on there for a few months, same price. does the 864 have a double disc clutch. I have 2 865s sitting in the barn and one is a 14" and the other must be a 15" or 15 1/2"
  18. If that is the same engine that came in the truck it would be a 237

  23. I cut an ad from a old magazine a few years ago that said ( 1957 Mack B61, fresh from the west coast, highly modified w/445 hp 8V92 Detroit,13 spd, airride susp., custom sleeper & int., polished Alcoas with brand new Goodyear rubber. $30,000.00. 502 460-5557 days, 502 348-4991 nite.) it was a dark blue or black. it was for sale around Frankfort, KY. anyone know of one like that on the west coast or around KY.
  24. I am in no big hurry you can PM me with the price, does it have 3 leaf springs on the front. Thanks Ron
