  1. a grand is worth it just for the rear end, engine mounts and transmission and if the frame is good you have your money back. looks to have some decent workable front sheetmetal on it also and the cab looks saveable with some welding.
  2. yup, been on ebay 3 or 4 times now. pretty nice truck. must be an original aluminum flush bumpers on it? never seen one, just in the B model photo archieve
  3. who the hell cares about trucks , peterbilts or even Macks after those pictures anyways??
  4. wow thats a sweet truck. what kinda suspension is that??? it has mack topmount rears. never seen anything like that. beige steering wheel and round tanks got me haha
  5. Champion J8C's for spark plugs or even something hotter as they always like to foul out #2 and #4. hotter coils helps to. the carbs show up on ebay every so often, its a Zenith downdraft two barrel, pretty common.
  6. i assume you mean 2 or 3 piece rims. split rims are from the old days and are actually where the whole rim splits in half right down the middle and is really dangerous of not chained and locked right. the two and three piece are still available but 22'' tires are about extinct. you can switch right over to 11 24.5's and put them right on your 22'' hubs or 11 22.5's if you have 20'' hubs. should bolt right up and use the same spacer and wedges. the spacer should be the normal 3 5/8 wide spacer unless you run wider 12.00 tires then you would need a 4'' spacer and shorter wedges. either way, make sure the wedges ''bottom out'' on the spoke and there isnt a gap. usually a telltale sign you have the wrong spacer or wedges is the wedges wont bottom out on the spoke or the tires are too close together.
  7. B613T would have originally had a END673T in it. would have been turbocharged. most early turbo engines didnt last long tho i have been told. if your END673 now is tired and needs rebuilding your best bet would be to find an ENDT675 or 237 as we all call them. you would need some parts and pulleys from your old engine but its basically an easy swap and you would gain the spin on filters to boot. the 675 is made for a 5 or 6 speed transmission but the quad will work as long as you dont hotrod it.
  8. looks good with the flaired up roof for an air deflecter. oh wait thats a modern truck parked behind it haha
  9. you were in my area and didnt say a word? i was only 15 min away. i see that truck around often actually. seen a few beat red ones runnin lately two with the hoods all patched up with steel panels in the front
  10. actually i have wondered this... why didnt Mack make a set aside cab B model? they made every other version of a B model and made the LM set aside cab and then stopped durin B model years then made the U and Dm's.
  11. last time i was in Harrisburg right off of 81 i went past the Mack dealer and could have sworn they had a C model out back. they also had a B62 or B68 with factory bud wheels all the way around and i think a B42 was back there also.
  12. yup, W model is RARE!. Bob theimer use to have one in Bainbridge Ny. dunno who ended up with it after the auction and he died. i was there and remember Gary Mahan i think flying up with his helicopter, bought a few rare turcks like the white cabover BX or whatever he has then leavin.
  13. some 711's had the copper gaskets with 20 studs and some newer ones had the paper type like a 237 with the fire rings on them. being as yours is an r model i would assume yours might have the newer gaskets on it. last i knew both types were still available from Mack
  14. yes Vinny, i have wrenches a few B models in my day and can pretty much pinpoint a year of one withing reason. haha
  15. gotta make sure you put a new balancer on with a new crank also.
  16. 237's and 300;s were known for that. have a 237 sittin in my yard right now with a broke crank. only reason its still sittin is someone canabolized it, stole the flywheel and oil pan and the turbo is wore out otherwise id probably put a crank it it. cant see it right now for a hobby truck
  17. nice. looks pretty solid, early number but its at least a 59 and up. has the newer style crossmembers, newer 61 and later mirror brackets, newer style radiator shell and the air horns off to the side.
  18. single axle B61's are far more common than a tandem axle tractors. to each their own but i cant see cuttin a perfectly good tandem up just to make a single axle. back then single axle tractors were the norm, not many people had twin screws. most tandems were dump trucks and were mostly used up.
  19. love the orange Rm with the Snogo on it. and the old school block letter Mack mudflaps. anyone have an old set of Bicentennial red white and blue Mack mudflaps like the Duck had in Convoy btw???
  20. well guy called me i went on the motorcycle run with the Mack with. said he has a miniature Fruehauf fifth wheel mounted on an old 20's Ford doodlebug. has a V8 flathead in it he is puttin in a model A and wanted to know if i was interested in the wheel as he is junkin everyting. he is looke for 200-300 which seems high to me. he said it came out of old foundry in Chicago. cant remember what he told me they made but said it use to have a trailer with it and use to move buk material inside the plant along with finished product. this guy also has an old album he got from an estate sale full of old Macks from NYC. mostly AC's and F model chain drives. some pictures of the half cab trucks like i found in the junkyard with the Bycyrus Erie and Northwest shovels mounted on them. also some pictures of the original Tarzan and Jane being lifted up with an old Ac Mack in the 40's for a stunt for the movie. also a few pictures of them buildin the subways with miniature Northwest shovels with short booms. didnt know Many but did see a few Colonial Macks and a other companies from Ny and Nj. question is, whats the fifth wheel and the photo album worth? i took pics of the wheel but dont think he would appreciate me takin a pic of the truck pictures. also wonderin how rare this wheel is? i know i dont need it and dont have anything to put it on but cant see it going to junk.
  21. wow, not one round headlight superdog in the crew? those are my favorites haha
  22. totally agree. i go the the Lake George Ny show along with the Syracuse nationals. lost of nice cars, some rats, and i enjoy lookin but eventually someone will piss me off. maybe its just me but i cant stand the arrogant asshole that has a 70 Chevelle 454 that SOMEONE else did for him and he thinks hes hing shit. id rather walk by a ratty old truck or car thats mechanically sound and be able to talk to the owner that goes to work everyday and works on his OWN vehicle, cuts his hands opens and saves his pennies to by parts.
