bulldog man replied to Olivetroad's topic in Odds and Ends
Ya Fertilizer can do a number on a truck seen a lot of trucks through the years @ sales i was interested in buying then get to looking @ it close up & it would be rusted out due to salt or fertilizer thats when i back away FAR AWAY From it . -
Yup we did everything in house except the major stuff sent the major stuff to our mechanic in the backwoods of Millington,Tn . I Pretty much had a rolling shop on a 84' K3500 GMC 1 Ton flatbed & a 89 F250 Ford 2wd p/u if a dozer or other piece of equipment went down in the field or 1 of our dump trucks or our lowboy went down on the roadside. your right bud ya gotta know how to turn wrenches when you are an O/O & Try to saveas much $ as ya can . We had 1 truck that had A/C On it & the driver was so used to going w/o A/C For years he hardly used it this part of the reason why i hardly use A/C In a work truck to this day .i now work for the guys that sold us our tires & the 1 ton i drive @ work has A/C On it & i wont use it most of the time cause if i have to get out it makes it worse on me Getting in & out of the truck . ive got sick this way before & i learned from it after a hose busted on a Cat trackhoe many years ago & i had to get out & fix it . Was into the herbal thing during my high school years & early 20's cause of my MILD Case of C.P on the left side now its out of the system totally but @ 1 time i was so into the habit my granddad handed me a $ 50 bill said go get some 2.5% limo tint & you & your brother tint the windows on the 2590 Case your operating . he said i know your hurting but i dont need my clients seeing you smoke while your working w/ the tractor & pan . was a sight to see the bottom half of the back window on the 2590 cracked & white smoke rolling out . the others on the crew would get on the radio & say well we know What 's doing he hurting again . Randy seen the pics on FB I Had to take a 2nd look @ the tranny fer what was wrong but finally seen it & @ 1st i thought it was an 18spd Mack tranny . . hope ya get that big tranny fixed & back to making $ soon bud .

W/My Cebreal Palsy locking my left hand up esp in the Cooler weather as i get older i like the flintstone DM600 W/ the Alison Auto in it . Wish it was a longer frame wouldnt mind making into a dump truck . ya i like & believe in a pure bred Bulldog but if i can find somthing easier for me to drive ill do it . & ya i agree w/ yall on the no price deal i dont like that either makes me wonder how much they jacked price up on this bulldog cause of the Alison Auto in it . http://www.truckpape...pcid=2001208841 -

bulldog man replied to mackniac's topic in Modern Mack Truck General Discussion
im 37 yrs old & i wont own a Newer give me an ole B , R or DM w/ an Thermodyne 673 ,711 or a E6 OR E7 w/ all bulldog drive train ANYDAY . & not this volvoized crap they are pushing on us now days . Bad & sad thing is the older Macks are being exported the other countrys across the world are running the hell out 40 yr old & 50 yr old bulldogs . & mean while volvo is phasing out the parts for the older macks . : Just my 2 cents later aka bulldog man on Bmt -
Mark there are alot of old road tractors converted to Dump Buckets running around Memphis . hell most are geared to run like a greyhound bus & wont pull its own ass out of the soft ground due to the gearing & suspenion on the truck . i cant keep count of how many converted dump trucks i see around here w/ single frames, air ride suspension & reyco suspension just to mention a few . been told before that they would make to the job before i would . job would be soft ground & they would have that converted road tractor stuck & our Bulldogs or Acar would have to pull them out . told him ya may out run me on the 240 loop in Memphis but id be there or 1 of our other trucks would be there to pull him out lol . they hated when not only myself but others that worked for my pop was right ...lol Hell i know of a Freightliner dump running in Memphis & North Ms that has air ride suspension & Super Singles & Alcoa's all the way round including 425 floats on the steer. i wouldnt want to drive that shaker if a tire blew or an air bag blew esp w/ 25 tons of material on the back or 16' of loaded bed in the air & that happens . all i ever see him hauling is hot rock for 1 of big paving companys in Memphis . Give me an ole W.M.C. Pre V#LV* Autocar w/ a Hummin Cummins, double frame 18 to 2o k f/a & 44k to 46k r/a 20k air tag cheater axle , & Hendrickson Walking beams or Hendrickson Rubber Block suspension or Pre V%LV*IZED w/ similar specs but all drive train preferably an ole redi mix truck on either account . Hard to get a true dump truck round here anymore unless ya find 1 from the factory speced that way or find an ole Redi Mix truck w/ the drum removed . it's a Shame !! As far as driving school goes like most everybody else here id imagine learned through the school of hard knocks like i did . in my case i grew up on the farm & in the excavating business & i learned @ an early age . i was sleeping in the bench seat of old dog when i was 2 yrs old while they were either moving equipment from 1 job to the next or taking soybeans or wheat to the elvator down in Memphis . (& yall remember no A/C In the summer time )
