  1. Don't you mean Rob, that's a reason of not using U's in Australian service? Vlad
  2. Olive, you have to make a present to our U-person as the edition with off-set letters
  3. The only picture of U I saw is on the page 177 with a bit of text. Although it's a very good book conteins lot of info especially about early models. Important sourse of general Mackology.
  4. Glad to see any progress on trucks. Green paint looks quite fresh polished! Just put an emblem by method of Superdog, spray tanks the color of the bumper and the truck would be ready for show Vlad
  5. If so I think yes. By this way 3-axle U looks quite like DM and a single rear comes more definit.
  6. How I can see (not good) it was camel back. This name is due to the form of a spring - it looks like a camel - a hill on a top of a trunnion going down to axles. I like suspensions and like tandems. That's why I sorry about your rebuilding. I think U 3-axle was not a common type truck. 2-axles are more practical. It's a question of taste for me, I like 3-axle tractors best of all. Did your U has single tyres on the rear rear?
  7. I understand it Vinny and don't like that way. But it is your Mack and your sound of music. And you described the reason of. Big job has done though how many are waiting for your hands? I'm working on my tandem bogie and it requires a lot of time and activity. Did the U has camelback? Vlad
  8. EP is 160-bhp 611 cid, EY is 707 cid (5 x 6 in.), 170 bhp. I have the last one though in militarized version with an oil pan modified for 6 wheel drive. But if I'm not mistaking EY as it own is a militarized version of EP with cubics and power increased.
  9. Two-axle tractor will looks good with a one-axle trailer. Imagination is a nice thing though you have to imagine both how to provide a painting and lots of different little works - the mirror carrier e.t.c. Try to keep productive imagination. And make some jobs from time to time. Constantly moving to the result. Don't hook on an empty imagination how lot of us doing.
  10. During WW2 Soviet Union recieved an amount of 4-71 engines for use in track artillery tractors. Also equipement was bougt for a reason to make repears of these motors. By using that equipement a production of 4-71 and 6-71 engines was organised. They were installed into 2 and 3 axle trucks of MAZ and YaAZ. And early KrAZ. Production came to early-sixties when 4-strokers got his place.
  11. I have a two-stroke engine now at the yard. Somebody put them in my WW2 Mack NR truck. I didn't try to start them because it was stuck hard. Though this one was made in the USSR. Vlad
  12. Please post a contact of the guy, I'm also looking for stainless straps for R600. Not shure he would be ready to send owerseas.
  13. I'm sure you're carefull for information, especially of U's. I mean the number of the U that Superdog bought 27 years ago. ...But I'm a fool. The number is ...1007 or ..1017, it's written owerhere.
  14. Too interesting to read gramatics of that kind by the way of my studying English both with a studying of Mack trucks. Vinnie, you are allways on a right way.
  15. Mack museum knows it indeed. Superdog, don't you still keep the ch. number?
  16. If I understand right, U609ST1007 or 17 means it was 7th or 17th built?
  17. Bob, probably you don't have U, that's why somebody argue with you. Vlad
  18. They had. I agree Green Dash here as the U was a replacement of so specific C-model. Suppose they both have good road-view conditions. To complete a theme - what is the year of the DM production start ?
  19. Pretty looking set of toys. All the four are of best condition. Interesting to know - do they all have a same owner?
  20. Does it mean an off-set cab came into production earlier then middle-mounted ? It seems to me as a strange fact.
