  1. SUCCESS!! This morning I purchased a new Remy 24SI from Watt and installed it this afternoon. I also installed a new A/C belt but not alternator belts. The new belts were not long enough (although correct belts per parts book P642). So I reintalled the old belts (P652). I crossed my fingers and eyes and started the MH. Then with baited breath I turned on the A/C and NO SQUEALING!!! Did some snap accelerations and WONDEROUS!! Only issure, I could not get the A/C compressor jack bolts installed so I used a pry bar and "snugged" the belt and tightened the anchor bolts. The new belt may stretch after some running. FYI, the 24SI has dual internal cooling fans versus one external fan on the 22SI. So if the Lord is willing and the creeks don't rise, I will be on my way to Mudcungie Thursday morning. Right now I am happier than a pig in shit mud. P.S. Barry - kudos to Terry for recommending the 24SI (and it was cheaper than a 22SI which was not in stock). Also, shop installed the pulley!
  2. I requested a spot on the asphalt. Otherwise I may be sitting at the Hawthorne Suites with my own show.
  3. Likely less expensive to buy a rebuilt one from TSC, Valu-Bilt, or All States Tractor Parts.
  4. Bob? I sent you an email (2 times) via Yahooy several weeks ago with prints for the seat brackets and seat information. I never heard from you.
  5. I plan to be there with my MH. That is if I get the alternator and belts replaced....and it does not squeal.
  6. No issues with NEW CONTENT on my computer.
  7. QF - The MH currently has Mack branded belts and that is what I plan to install. Thanks!
  8. Update on the alternator issue. I checked on reman alternators and the cost is only a "few" dollars less than a new Delco which has a (1) year warranty versus a 30 or 90 days on reman. My alternator is a 22SI 145A and Watt has a 24SI 160A. The 24SI has dual internal cooling fans, otherwise they are the same (J mount, etc.). Unless someone states otherwise, 24SI it is. I can eventually have my old 22SI rebuilt and keep as a spare. The saga continues...... New alternator and belts and hopefully the squealing will be eliminated. If not, perhaps there is a mouse or two caught somewhere.
  9. I completed the label on Sunday. The fabric marker "bleeds" some but is still legible. I previously used a Sharpie Permanent Marker but it faded. I will give the fabric pen a try and see what happens. BTW, I am using the white label from JJKeller that has a clear laminate cover to protect the information. The old label is the same and there are no issues with label integrity, just fading.
  10. Thanks everyone for the comments. I removed the alternator on Saturday and will be going to the rebuilder on Monday. Hopefully I will have it back on Tuesday. It is getting "crunch time" for Macungie. I know, I should have checked it when I returned from York. Hind sight is 20/20 as they say. Just been busy with the house in OH and farm property in PA. Seems there is less time to do stuff since I retired.
  11. Belts look okay but I will likely put new belts on while it is down. BTW, the belts were cool to touch. I figure if they were slipping, they would be warm. However the pulley on the alternator was very warm. Which leads me to believe the bearing is bad.
  12. Nice pics/trucks. And where is the pic of the BMT group?
  13. Nice find. Always liked the 100/200 series style. As Tim M mentioned, some have a tendency to jump out of gear. Where are you located?
  14. Got into a can of worms today. I was able to determine how to adjust the tension on the A/C belt (4 bolts holding the compressor and 2 jack bolts). Anyway, after tightening the belt (was not that loose), I still had a squeal at high rpm so I was able to stand in front of the grille and listen as it continued to squeal. The noise was coming more from the driver's side (alternator side). So I checked the belts and they seemed loose. I was able to get the alternator belts tightened but now the squeal was constant and louder when I turned on the A/C. Next I loosened the belts slightly and still squealing constantly. Now I am thinking alternator bearing. When the A/C is energized, it puts a load on the alternator (is my thinking correct?). I removed the alternator but no side motion in the shaft. Anyway I am a going to have it rebuilt. I hope this will eliminate the squeal. Any thoughts?
  15. Thanks for the weekly pics. As for the big a$$ girl....if someone told her to haul a$$, she would have to make two (2) trips!
  16. No cab shocks, sorry. Take a look at the MH parts and make me an offer.
  17. Bought a fabric ink marker tonight at a local Arts and Crafts store. I will report back in a year. Thanks again for the suggestions.
  18. Nice! I am jealous. Don't see many single axle Rs.
  19. Unpainted or primered. Some of them look new (old and dirty but new).
  20. Denny, This is for my trailer and there are no compartment doors. Originally the label was on the left front side near the cereal number plate. I was advised to put it there so it is easily visible and hopefully discourage any DOT issues. That is where I placed it last year and it faded.
  21. interesting information. Can you scan it and then post it in the Wiki section? Thanks!
  22. Typewriter? What is a typewriter? I don't remember where my old portable is located or even if it still works. All, Thanks for the suggestions! I will try a laundry marker (Sharpie Rub-A-Dub) or livestock marking pen (should be able to find it at TSC).
  23. Try this place. They may be able to match. http://www.restorationspecialties.com/
  24. I have a new annual inspection label to mark and install on my trailer. Last year I used a Sharpie Permanent Marker and the markings faded and are barely legible. The label states "use an indelible, permanent ink marker, pen, or pencil that will not fade in direct sunlight." What can I use that will not fade? Thanks!
  25. Plan is to arrive after lunch on Thursday. I will send you a PM with my cell phone number. As for twisted sister...mike69mackman and I have first dibs on "red".
