  1. Looks good are you going with black rims or something a little lighter?
  2. Same here bulldog through and through but this is a super clean truck. The owner's brother ordered this truck new and made it his "show" truck with no expense spared and chrome everything and I mean everything. The owner keeps this truck in great shape and mechanically and cosmetically.
  3. 1995 Peterbilt 379 600 cat 18spd 2spd eaton 46k rears on pete air leaf. Owner says after 59 years of driving trucks it time to hang it up so he brought it in for me to address some corrosion and small dents and dings.
  4. Epoxy primer the raw sandblasted metal then top coat with AUE-300 Black Polyurethane (Gloss) or ALK-200 Acrylic Modified Alkyd Enamel. Use a gravity feed spray gun with 1.5-1.8mm tip about 20-30 psi cap pressure.
  5. If sandblasted, epoxy primer and PPG aue-300 or ALK-200, or chassis saver direct to sandblast metal and top coat with aue or alk. If wire wheeling and pressure washing with crust and rust spots left, chassis saver and top coat with aue or alk. Chassis saver works best on a rough surface and is comparable to POR-15 or any other rust "encapsulator" but like the others (POR-15 etc) doesn't have the UV resistance and will eventually get chalk white and fade.
  6. Heard there was a fire at the Mack plant. http://www.mcall.com/news/local/eastpenn/mc-f-lower-macungie-mack-truck-fire-20140415,0,4585121.story
  7. Is this in part due to the cummins recall? Or was this set in motion prior to?
  8. So you were the one he sold it to! I texted him yesterday after I seen the ad on CL but he said he had sold them that morning! I may be in the market for some side panels and possble a roof for a customer pm pricing if you dont mnd
  9. Thanks greendash! You need to get a "greendash" and add to the local antique trucks!
  10. Thanks everyone! I'm partial to the look of the regular tubeless or tube type front wheels on these years of dm. I like the floaters on the 690s not so much on the older DMs. We have several Mack's that have the potential of being in the shop. A possible BCR tandem dump, a RD686, R600 glider tandem dump, Ford L9000 tandem salt spreader, couple kenworth mixer and roll offs. It's fixing up to be a busy place which is a good thing!
  11. Thats Great! Its funny it still has the Weight Sticker on it!
  12. Times change, people change, companies change, fades die out, people die, and companies die. Like it or not (Volvo) investing in Mack has kept the company from dying. Last time I checked American workers and American Supplies were still in business because of Mack. It's a global economy, if the profits go to Sweden so what. They are still investing and so far not killing it but making the Mack Brand thrive and keep or gain market share. As a young guy that's grown up around Macks and now working on Macks, new and old, I can say I'm glad that Volvo has committed to Mack. Although not perfect, Mack still has a bulldog on the hood and Macks are still make here in Pennsylvania. Let's move on please. This is getting so old. Every couple weeks its the same negativity and same old topic. WE ARE BEATING A DEAD HORSE.
  13. "You serious, Clark?" I think you have to be more specific. The RD wasn't available with a gas job. Please provide more coherent Info.
  14. I memory serves me right this h and u were for sale sometime last year and we discussed the issues associated with the price and the additions to the truck like the front bumper and "partial" restoration remark
  15. Thanks guys, No its a straight serial number DM685S36780 no "GK" The truck was repainted about 20 years ago and think parts were swapped.
  16. This might have been addressed before but I can't find it by searching or in the wiki pages. I'm redoing a 1978 dm for a customer and I was wondering if the truck should have a gold dog on the hood? Talking with the man who has redone more than a couple handfuls of dm in various years (my old man) he said it varied. I know the gold dog meant all Mack and Maxidyne I just wondered it if applied here to this one. The truck has 237 lohole 6spd and 44k camelback. The current bulldog is pitted chrome and has seen better days so it needs replaced.
  17. Just did some major updates to the website with some suggestions you guys made thanks a lot!
  18. Looking at the pictures I'm with 84superdog, That's a 237 and 44k rears with bronze bushing, it might have heavier 55k springs.I have a 78 DM in the shop now with the same setup.
  19. I agree camelback=off road dump, but like I said it was setup for an asphalt company primarily used on highway milling and asphalt.
  20. Former AI construction inc '03 granite was in this week for inspection and pm. It's a pretty nice driving truck that's nice for asphalt work. Air ride suspension and cab makes the ride nice.
  21. Pitt-Ohio, I believe for the most part? Green Dash would know!
