Hi, I'm Jake.. I love old Mack's. Trucking is in my blood. My great-grandfather drove truck. My grandfather had Mack's, and now my father and uncle have Mack's.. 4 of them to be correct. All superliners. We picked up this 1989 RW753 from a relative who basically let the truck rot in a barn for the last 15yrs. Since tearing into this truck I have learned one thing. I never truly appreciated how out well our trucks were maintained, until I began this. The truck is your basic Michigan special. It has a 3406B, 13spd, 44k lb Mack rear ends, 20k lb front axle, etc.. I know there are a bunch of “Purists” on this site that would like to see an old Mack truck brought back to original condition. I may rock a few boats here but I think it is worth the debate. I am in the process of restoring a 1965 B61SX with a END 711 and quadraplex tranny. I have been going to truck shows for some years now and I have done my share of drooling over the projects you all kick out of your shops. I could never hope to match the quality restorations that I see at those shows so when I started my truck project, I decided to deviate a bit and build my truck so it is pleasing to me. At most shows I have been to, you can see dozens of old Macks that are green or red on the exterior and Mack interior green on the interior. Most look as though they just came off the factory line. I, on the other hand, have taken the liberty of painting the exterior of my truck a light gray and have matched that color for the interior. My fenders and grill will be Jet black while the nose piece will be the lt. gray. I installed a headliner and rear cab wall out of sheet PVC and have covered both with a smoke gray carpet-like fabric. Most diesel engines I see look as though the manufacturer built up the entire engine with all attachments and then just spray painted everything the same color. I decided I would paint my engine with an array of colors that would make it POP a bit. So, in a nutshell, I am cleaning, refurbishing, and remounting original parts on the truck but have seriously deviated from the normal Mack color schemes. Looking for information or guidance in obtaining information about a 1946 Mack 750GPM Pumper currently owned by the West Point Volunteer Fire Company, West Point, PA 19486. (Montgomery County, PA) D.B.A Upper Gwynedd Township Fire Department I am the Chief Engineer working with a committee put together by our department to restore our 1946 Mack Pumper, purchased in 1947. I am looking for whatever information I can find ranging from original build date, reason for build (suspected it was built for use by U.S. Forces during WWII but never delivered as such), build photos, specifications, modifications for municipal use, paint color codes, delivery date, signers of contract and so on. Our goals with this unit is restore it back to its original condition including the Hale pump, removing accessories and hardware needed to meet the firefighting demand through the years which include but not limited to ladders, appliances, cab interior, engine and pump. Ive never done a long restoration thread but wanted to tell the story of a truck that I want to get back to tip top shape with you guys help. I have alot of questions . Im not to handy with the ladys or electronic devices so bear with me on the pics etc. It is a 1986 Mack Superliner RW713 , E6 350 , Maxitorque? 12spd., 44k rears . I have only owned truck for less than a week. Still learning about it , past owner told me 44 rears. I have to get the VIN# on here and get the specs. I hope to write the Mack Museum for any history on truck . Here are some pic that were posted by past owner on Craigslist before I bought it. doug
