  1. Wonder what ever happened to those Johnston grain farms MHs I used to see running around our neck of the woods years ago.
  2. The guy who did most of the trucks around here died years ago and took his artistic talents with him.
  3. With the proliferation of do it fast do I want it done now the art of hand lettering has gone by the wayside I am considering lettering my RS myself I have learned gunstock making and engraving myself so this should be a fun project. Its all design and proportion and some artistic talent I have not decided whether to letter my truck in western style or circus lettering.
  4. Here is a real nice one that sold a while back on the GSA I should have bought this one.
  5. Its an ex military refueling truck there is a lot of them sitting out in GSA yards like the one in goldsby Oklahoma nice units if you can get them directly from the government before the fire departments get a hold of them.
  6. Alex do you have the sheet metal for the R model that runs up the side between the door and hood to the cowl and down to the hood latch driver side.
  7. Im pretty sure its fabric or maybe vinyl I can check if your interested in it.
  8. I have a OEM black passenger side seat from an R model like new its been sitting in my shed for years if anyone needs it wasn't trying to hijack your thread Alex but that seat cover just reminded me of it.
  9. Im not in any hurry I sent you a PM about the brown dash parts too.
  10. Im in for the tan glove box cover that's a RB battery box cover in the pics I only know this because I drove one all summer two years ago..
  11. To bad you couldn't find a mold maker to make a set that could be used for injection molded plastic only for practicality in pricing and easy to replace.
  12. Most people buy at higher prices at government auctions because most is low mile vehicles with a regular maintenance program so they tent to be in better condition and have a history of up keep that goes with them.
  13. I have a set of like new rubber hoses and a new pogo stick that was removed from my RS I have no use for sitting here in my garage.
  14. Chip wouldn't take a job unless he could find a way to lower it and make it look like it belongs south of the border.
  15. It would be nice to get some 40s and 50s its been so damp this winter just goes right through you been busy cutting and splitting firewood just to replace what I have used so far this year.
  16. I would have been much easier in a shop instead of outside on top a car trailer.
  17. As some here know Im going to put a cargo bed on my RS700L to do parades this summer I brought the bed home a couple weeks ago now I started work on it being in the high 20s today what better day to weld outside. Yesterday I cut the rear filler panel out as it was pretty bent up and I wanted to civilianize the military bed a bit. I am a bit of a scrounge so I saved some pieces of eight inch C channel last summer that was going into the scrap bin at work and welded them together yesterday to make the rear filler panel. Today I made a jig to cut the holes for the four inch round tail lights using a torch to cut holes is so much faster than a hole saw but the jig makes them about perfect these have not even been touched up with a grinder yet. After welding the filler panel in I cut some gussets out of the junk filler panel to weld into the rear corners for strength and for a place to mount a clearance light sometime in the near future it will go into the sandblasters to be cleaned up Im not sure I want to remount the tailgate the way it was or reengineer it cutting it in half to swing out each side instead.
  18. I bought this one off ebay payed a little more than I wanted to but you don't see many R model buckles.
  19. Heres an old 63 f-600 I found for sale says it starts and runs.
  20. Same as the guy selling military trucks down in Indiana no reserve auctions one or two bids on them then they show up a week later at the same price.
  21. I remember when the old ford trucks had them too when they started putting cat diesels into them.
  22. Did anyone watch the video of the multi car and truck pile up in Michigan is it just me but did the cars and trucks in that video seem to be going way to fast for the conditions? Im not trying to beat anybody up here but the visibility had to be really bad to come up on that pile of cars and trucks as fast as they did and have anywhere to go or even anyway to slow down.
  23. This may qualify for the tore up Tuesday thread but look at this guy wedged between two trailers in a wreck in Oregon the article stated he was in good condition when extricated. I would have gone and bought lottery tickets if that was me as soon as I could lucky there was no fire or it would have been real bad for him.
  24. I don't even know why Im even considering this right now my RS is a long way from completion maybe its the thread about the white truck rat rod but these are cool. It is an old M211 or M185 military truck they can be bought rather cheap in various states of disrepair so its not chopping up a restorable truck the GSA comes up with a bunch of these old M 211s at times. I looked into doing one of these a couple years ago pretty simple to do if you have basic fabrication skills I would be using a cat 3208 instead of the stock in line six gasser that was stock.
  25. I had an old no power steering R model at Harry Kuhn my day consisted backing around cul de sacs in the older sections of streamwood following the gradall so he could load the bad sections of curb into the trailer.
