Yeah probably not worth much overseas even for drivetrain parts with the Scania and all -
Went and looked a 1980 R400 today Scania with RT613. Comes with extra Motor and transmission. Unfortunately it spent time as a plow and sander truck. Needs a frame, raingutter and roof repair and rocker panels. I wish I had the ambition for this. I really want a single axle R model dump but this probably isn't the way to go about it. He's asking $3500 for everything. It'll probably end up on a boat.

When you took a left off the main road and then a right onto Foster St. which Nissen's was on my house was the second one on the right but I didn't buy it until 1989 long after you left. When I bought the house, my mother commented that there were tractor trailers going up and down the street. I was like aaand? whats the problem? -

Used to live about 5 houses from Nissen in Brockton -
A little more progress. Made up the lower rear panel and figured out that I need to add a 4" extension to the rear fenders. So out came the shrinker, tedious as hell but it seems to be working. The real trick will be making both fenders the same.

That's a hell of a first step out the front door. -
We got done with today's job early so I used the time and the help I had productively. Cut and bent all 5 panels in about an hour or so..

Street legal as of this afternoon! Now I can concentrate on the bed. Also my b-day present from my kids was sitting outside the door when I got home. Nice rolling tool tray with a magnetic led pod light.

First real drive today. Did about 5-6 miles.Couple small issues and adjustments. Any shakedown cruise that doesn't involve a tow truck is a good shakedown cruise.

My grandmother died 6 weeks after I was born and my Grandfather passed a couple of years later. I wish I knew more about them.

I think that was about the same time my grandparents came over too

Finished up the bumper and found new wiper arms so I'm just about ready for an inspection sticker. If anybody needs new wiper arms for a B Model google trico 73-300. It's an adjustable length that is about an inch and a half too long fully retracted. The inner end of the arm is swedged so you can't just slide it out and cut it down though. I extended it all the way, cut it off where it slides in and the swedged section falls out by the spring, slide whats left in and tighten the screw and it's perfect. They even came with the knurled adapters and the nuts. Working out better than I expected. The bumper looks pretty good for scrap metal I think.

Bought it from Dennis Meehan a long time ago for door parts. I'm going to hang it on the wall of the shop.

Just safety inspection too old for emissions testing although I have heard that the emissions stuff (egr etc.) have to still be on the vehicle even though it's emissions exempt. I think that they don't know whats going on. Got going on a front bumper after work today. I had a piece of galvy 4" x 8" tube, sliced it lengthtwise and cut end pieces to angle back. We are going to get rained out tomorrow so I'll weld it up in the morning. The tube came out of a Porsche sign so I thinking it might make the truck handle better.
