  1. Won't be any surprises internally this way I guess
  2. I think you dodged a big bullet there Paul. Sounds like you would have had an empty wallet and an empty garage
  3. Hi Bob The consensus is it will work, 1 3/4" input shaft and small bellhousing., My first crane truck had a 210hp DT that had a rt910 behind it, worked great. I've got the old timer truck mechanic doing this for me that converted my Louisville 3208 cat from an allison to a 910 and that worked out good too although obviously didn't gain any top end speed.. This one should get me rolling a little faster.
  4. Whoever came up with that Fuller 6 speed should be brought around back and beaten severely
  5. The rto was free Just needs a couple things replaced
  6. I was just wondering if anyone in here has ever run an RTO9513 behind a 3126 Cat? KW T300 single axle 250 hp 3126 which has a fuller 6 speed which is horrible to live with. It's time for a new clutch and I have the 13 speed. They came from the factory with 9 speeds so I figure a little bit of overdrive can't hurt.
  7. Makes me miss my Astro Shouldn't have sold it
  8. Dynamatting well under way. Ordered 2 new airseats and made up new floor brackets for them. Got some pleated black vinyl material coming for back of cab, door panels and firewall. Going to get a new floormat too, might as well at this point.. Amazing how this stuff can snowball, I really just wanted to get the windshield wipers working again.
  9. Duplicolor Detroit Alpine green engine paint, pretty much a dead on match.
  10. If they price them like a Freightliner they will sell a ton of them. I think it would look great with one of my sign cranes on one.
  11. Stripped the interior, it was pretty grubby and acne scarred under the floor mat. Scraped, chipped and wire brushed it before a heavy coat of rust reformer. Next stop brush on bedliner on the floor and a full covering with dynamat. Ordered 2 new midback air seats today too. Epoxied up the cracked steering wheel and squirted some paint on it.
  12. I think you could turn that around without leaving the parking space
  13. Posted a photo of the ramp truck last year. This morning it was lined up with it's siblings plus one for Hippy
  14. Cleaned up and painted the heater box. I think it's time to paint the interior, dynamat it and get a new airseat before the heater goes back in. It looks like the plastic front got rather warm at one time.
  15. The guy I bought the hoop frame from has enough to do another couple hundred x 30 feet wide he wants to sell me. I could probably fill it pretty quickly
  16. I gotta find out how much a plane ticket is to Minneapolis, that thing is beautiful
  17. Hagerty has been very good for me, 3 trucks stated value about $425 a year total and they are ok with pulling a trailer, just have to let them know at the beginning.
  18. 25 -30years ago you were never more than a few miles from a radiator shop, real automotive machine shop or starter alternator shop. Now not so much. Plastic tanks, and crate engines killed most of them off.
  19. Hi Vlad the kit was a zip lock sandwich bag with the seals and o rings in it, no part number, very informal. I called them and gave them the numbers off the end of the wiper motor and they mailed it out. Their website is rometruckparts.com.
  20. Way too nice too be this close to this much salt. Last night before major 1" snowfall.
  21. Not sure yet, possibly match the Autocar or Blue fenders and white,
  22. So work finally slowed down enough to do a little work on my R model. Previous owner had disconnected the heater core at some time and the windshield wipers were not working. I found an actual radiator shop (hard to find these days) that recored the heater core for me. I had bought a new wiper pivot assembly from Watts about a year and half ago so I put it in and found that the pins for the wiper transmission arms were spaced 1/4" further apart than the original ones so that wouldn't work. The original wasn't actually that worn, the wiper motor was a mess though. I called Rome truck parts and they had a rebuild kit for $22 so I figured I didn't have much to lose trying to rebuild it myself. The inside of the motor was well gunked up with rust oil and crap but cleaned up well. After putting the internal cam valve in wrong about 3-4 times I got it working. Put it back on truck and it works like newish. Going to do the heater box over and repaint the interior next. I looked everywhere for a rattle can that would come close to the green interior color, found a paint code on another thread that NAPA mixed up for me yesterday in a spray can ($24!) and it was pretty close. This morning a friend stopped by and said that the original color looked like Detroit Alpine Green. I had a can of can of engine paint in the cabinet and son of a bitch it's a perfect match. I learn something new every day which means I have to forget something else to make room in my limited brain.. Hoping to get a new paint job and new air seat in her by May. The bright green paint on the heater cover was a reject and had to remove it.
  23. Sorry about your Mom, Randy. Mine passed 1/9/19 dementia also . 4-5 years of my father caring for here full time and the last year spent in a hospital bed in the living room.
  24. Happy b-day Paul
  25. Thanks Paul. Just had a local radiator shop recore mine Friday. Wasn't too expensive but it also wasn't only 87 bucks either.
