  1. Building a stepside bed is not that hard, I'm not a fan of a fleetside bed after going through the trouble of building the truck from the ground up. That crew cab really is beautiful though, real deep pockets needed for that. I'll bet the paint job alone cost more than I spent on my truck total.
  2. Sheesh, I thought mine came out OK but now I feel inadequate. Thanks Paul
  3. whats the problem with seeing over the hood, all I see around is 25 year old supertruckers with the air seat in their pete or kw long hood all the way to the floor and you see just the top of a head and and a hand reaching up to grab the extended ape hanger shift lever.
  4. Utter F'n bullshit, 1215 cases in the US??????????? In a country of 350 million?????????? My high school senior class had 1500 students!!!!!! https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-in-us.html
  5. Herb takes the swan boats in and out of Boston Common every year and needs a short trsctor to drive down the paths in the Common. Has been using a White 3000 in the past.
  6. Litte more done this morning. Firewall and back of cab.
  7. Nope just matte black vinyl on white lexan. No clear coat or paint. There was still some water on it from laying the vinyl down. Cut a pegusas this afternoon. Been meaning to do that too.
  8. I've been in the sign business for 35 years and just got around to make up something for a shop decoration
  9. Got the truck back today, labor bill much higher than I was expecting. I think they charged even for walking by it . I'll have to look ths bill over a little better. Still need to get speedo calibrated. This thing has extra long legs now.
  10. The owner of these trucks has a property a quarter mile up the street from my shop and has relocated there and added another toy. Saw the MR pulling a van trailer this morning.
  11. Yup and now I can do 80mph between jobs. Oh yeah still spent too much on the R model lately.
  12. Well, tranny is in, all plumbed and was ready to go. Batteries got connected. truck cranked but wouldn't start. yeah fml. ECM internal keep alive battery bit the dust about 2 years ago. CAT software couldn't communicate with it since but the truck ran fine just had a check engine light flashing. I guess whatever parameters and info it had left disappeared with the batteries disconnected for a week or so. Took the ecm to KW dealer which luckily is about a mile from where the truck was, they bench tested it and yup, dead as a doornail. Off to the truck junkyard I went for a new to me ecm, back to the dealer to have it bench programmed. Of course the programming for my truck is no longer available seeing as it's old enough to drink. They installed a program that was generic 3126 software set at 250 hp. Well. the truck started but would only run for 20 seconds and shut down and accelerator did not work. Back to KW, Now that it was in the truck they could send a guy over with a laptop and set everything up correctly. a couple of hours tapping the keyboard, calling Kenworth and Cat and the CIA for secret codes, and equations, he waved his wand, I made the sign of the cross and viola, the truck runs the crane runs and I'm broke. I guess there was no way around a new ecm anyway because the speed limiter in the computer needed to be reset for the new .80 overdrive in the 9 speed and the old ecm wouldn't talk to anybody anyway. Once I get done paying for this little debacle at least I know a whole lot more about roadranger gear ratio etc. and cat ecms. Oh and no more check engine light so that's something good I guess.
  13. I just feel better now that the next time I need to stack up some trucks and chase a wolf through the fjords at night Volvo has me covered.

It started out as a gas job, gas motor B models didn't have tachs. At least I haven't seen one with a tach.
  15. Got the cab back panel made up ready to go, covered the seat bases with black vinyl.
