  1. Tach cable goes to the front , right side.
  2. I just got one for my R688st part # 54MT313BP94 . I believe ? but not sure, the last numbers of the part # is the length of the cable. Cables range from 80 to 218 inches , I think ? You can get them from Mack . I don't really have a user friendly Mack dealer, so mine came from PAI , it was only around 25 bucks .
  3. Yes it should have 3 positions . Just like ekennedy21 said, the vent should open on heat and a/c but should be closed for max a/c
  4. It doesn't get any better than that ! Nice job. Thanks for sharing .
  5. Looks great ! I like the exhaust tips. And very impressed with paint.
  6. I have used chassis saver. It goes on very nice ,and looks good when its new. Its very durable and doesn't need primer. But like POR 15 ( like Willie dog just posted about ) it also goes flat and chalky. I'm doing the frame on a different truck this spring and will just use rustoleum .
  7. Very good job. I love the colour.
  8. Looks like a great save ! Thanks for sharing .
  9. Here some pics Larry. They reinforce what Robert said. The water line for heater is off the left side of the water pump. The line for the compressor is off the right side at the bottom. You have to excuse the oil on everything. Truck has plowed for 31 years now, and its the oil that stops it from being a big pile of rust.
  10. You could check the quick release valves. That is normally where the air is exhausted from.
  11. I can take some pics for you later today Larry. I don't remember a line coming off the water pump. But not sure.
  12. I love that ! Thanks for sharing.
  13. Very good find ! Looks like it was a very sharp truck in its day, hopefully you can bring it back to its former glory. I really like the fenders to.
  14. Here's one that still works in Ontario. I can't remember what engine it had? I thought it was a gas 6 cyl. But think that can't be right. I need to take notes when I talk to people. The second pic isn't very good because I took a pic of a pic. But if you really squint your eyes, you can see it moving a building.
  15. I don't take change well. But I signed in , and in big letters it says Hello 85snowdog ……and it was beside the older non symmetric bulldog. I love it !!! Good job Barry Keith
  16. Welcome aboard !
  17. Very Nice !! Like Jim said, its an E6 350 4 valve. I have the same thing a 1988 R688ST . Don't knock your 237 though. Its not fast, but it will get you home every time. lol
  18. Great question! With all the RD talk lately I was going to ask the same thing myself. I have 2 RD's and an R . The only info I could contribute, and I'm not sure if it is limited to all R's an RD's is ….. The frame is approx. 10.5 inches on the RD . Approx 9 inches on the R. In my case they are both double frame. The only other difference that I see is the way the fuel tanks are mounted. The RD has a different front mounting bracket. The R just has your normal tank straps. My 85 RD has factory 38 000 # rears . Hopefully there will be more input from the experts.
  19. This Granite has been for sale here in Ontario for a while now. Its way too much for me, but I thought it was a cool truck. Anyway, doing some investigating it looks like it was a former FDNY fire truck. I'm not positive , but sure looks similar. There is even a switch for the strobe lights. That are not there now. With the heavy rears I doubt it started life in Ontario. I thought some might find it interesting. Possibly might even know the truck. Pics of truck and a link to the local ad here http://www.autotrader.ca/a/Mack/Granite+CV713/Mississauga/Ontario/5_26110228_ON20090602211220295/?ms=heavy_trucks&ursrc=pl&urp=2&urm=8

  21. LOL, If you throw rocks, do us a favour…….aim at these two. Nice pics HeavyGunner. Thanks.
  22. Wow, I didn't notice the tail and ears. The more I learn about the little details that Mack used. The more I appreciate my period correct bulldogs. Thanks for the info Ron. Keith
  23. About a year ago Ron (39 Baby Mack) made a very interesting post about the Bulldog on the hood not being symmetrical. I found it very interesting, and upon further investigation, I found the dogs on my 85,86 and 88 were all the same , not symmetrical. This is the original thread http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?/topic/38273-gold-dog/page-2?hl=gold%20dog post # 22 To add to Ron's story, I was looking at some mirrors I took off my 1988. I was amazed to see the mirrors match the dog on the hood. The left mirror is the same as the left side. Right the same as right. The dogs are not the same. This might help with the mystery as to why the dogs face forward.??? I bought 2 new mirrors recently and found that they have the exact same dog on both mirrors, just reversed. Keith
  24. Welcome aboard Jeff. I'm sure you've tried all the local truck parts like Traction or Fort Garry. The only thing I might try is PAI in Mississauga (905)795-0696 They are easy to deal with, and if you have a part # it won't take them long to tell you if they could get it. Good luck with your search. I don't discriminate, I would love to see pics of an old Dodge Keith
  25. I'm not sure if this helps you. From PAI, parts are still available, just got some in the fall.
