  3. Dunno Bob I reckon on city delivery there will be plenty of demand, government departments and local councils and shires or what ever you blokes call your local governments will be falling hand over fist for the latest gizmo Personally it makes a lotta sense to me for city type of businesses to buy these, cheap to run, short hauls and so on But as Swishman says "Wattadoeyeno" Paul
  4. Stainless steel sleeves are the go out here Last for ever, longer than a new wheel cylinder does Paul
  5. I have heard of blokes jacking up one back wheel, putting the truck in top gear, wrapping rope around the wheel and a couple of blokes grabbing in and giving it a BIG PULL putt putt putt vroom Paul
  6. I find this very interesting as well It appears that different Mack factories even in the same country built vastly different trucks of the same model Paul
  7. Spot on, we have no idea how long this may of been since he got stuck, may of been only moments before hand Dunno if we should be arm chair experts on what happened as we weren't there But, hang I'll make that a BIG BUT we can all learn from this I have got hung up a few times with my old float (low boy) and always when I'm off road No fangled adjustments, a jack and blocks of wood and we are soon on the move again I just jack the drive axles up and stick blocks of wood under and back out of were I was Thats me and as far as on road, our trailers are higher off the ground than the U.S. trailers as I think we are allowed higher loads 4.5 meters is normal thats 14 feet 9 and a bit inches in the old money 4.6 meters for stock trailers, thats a poofteenth over 15 feet 4.65 with a permit you just down load and so on Dunno what the U.S. is as in height amd axle loadings but they are very different than Australia's rules Paul
  8. I reckon your spot on, very hard to say what any of us would do in that situation Paul

  16. This is as best as I could do at short notice Had her rolled up with a couple of other sheilas keeping a eye on the trucks Paul
  17. My father always said "wood is only good for keeping you warm" Wood really is a issue in Australia as our white ant (termite) population is such that it destroys most woods at a record pace in most parts of Australia unless the wood is treated Australia never went thru the last ice age and as such the glaciers never took all the soil away while carving out new mountain ranges, apparently we have more white ants than rest of the world combined Anyway back to the topic Paul
  18. Cat pulled out of truck building because when they got in was when the U.S. entered it's "Sub Prime Mortage" crisis which inturn caused the "GFC" global financial crisis Cat stopped selling Cat motors to other manufacturers as the Cat motor was and still is well regarded thru out the world Cat believed that Cat motor lovers would buy Cat trucks just to get the motor Bad timing was the issue more than anything else Cat trucks were mainly sold in Australia and NewZealand and the ones that couldn't be sold in North America got sent here to be converted and sold I guess the Aust/NZ market was less important to upset than the north American market Paul
  19. And probably before the cab Paul
  20. Whilst out and about looking for something unrelated I came across this article on the forum It mentions the steps behind the front wheels been new to F models in I think it said 70 Look like the same steps as these Yes more useless information but relative to the question asked in a disjointed way lol Paul
