Well thats a few days I wont get back, long weekend in thus part of Australia Labour day weekend So moved a bit further along on tarting up Mrs Macks bullbar, doing my best ro polish a turd here Was 3 months and 1 day since I last worked on the bullbar, I have no idea were that time went but it went just the same Princess has been off to the otherside of the state visiting girl friends so Miss Molly and myself have been left unsupervised and Mack parts have crept inside the kitchen So best get them out of the house before she returns Got some trunion caps and air valves and other bits for the Dynatard to see if I can get it to do more than just make noise Paul
  5. BBQ sauce looks interesting, hope I dont have to go to Texas to get Texas pete, and what is liquid smoke ? Perished tyres aren't a problem if you dont look at them, that movie "Worlds Fastest Indian" they just fill the cracks with shoe polish and go and break a land speed record I guess the modern generation are becoming a little precious LOL Well done on the 5k walk or run Paul
  6. Dunno, I think the tin foil hat is about to be put on There is huge supply issues on just about everything these days, from basic hand tools to full size trucks, to new houses I think it is companies dont want to carry stock After all the economy is about stuffed at the moment according to the media yet no one can get workers Back in the late 80's early 90's when the economy went tits up there was no work about anywhere, I went fruit picking, working on cattle stations, scrub pulling and just about anything you could think of, got a job trying to sell insurance and another one answering phones, wasnt any good at either of those Picked a lot of cherrie tomatos and zucchini, watermelons and pumkins, squashand on and on it went There was just nothing about at all Now there's signs up everywhere with companies chasing workers Paul
  7. Gave me a chuckle Steve, who was born without ears, needed to hire a new manager. day he had set up three interviews. The first guy was great. He knew everything he needed and was very interesting. At the interview, Steve asked him, "Do you notice anything different about me?" And the gentleman answered, "Why yes, I couldn't help but notice that you have no ears." Steve did not appreciate his candor and threw him out. The second interview was with a woman, and she was even better than the first guy. But he asked her the same question, "Do you notice anything different about me?" She replied: "Well, you have no ears." Steve again got upset and tossed her out. The third and last interview was the best one of all three. It was with a very young man who was fresh out of college. He was smart, he was handsome, and he seemed to be a better businessman than the first two put together. Steve was anxious, but went ahead and asked the young man the same question: "Do you notice anything different about me?" And to his surprise, the young man answered: "Yes, you wear contact lenses." Steve was shocked, and said, "What an incredibly observant young man. How in the world did you know that?" The young man fell off his chair laughing hysterically and replied, "Well it’s pretty hard to wear glasses with no f..king ears!!!" Paul
  8. Well we are all learning things today Thanks for sharing that, Im guessing everyone just pulls the plug out and bunged what ever they thought was right in there Paul
  9. Gotta agree about LED lights, bloody shocking and a lot of roads I drive on dont have any white lines at all to follow Makes for some interesting driving at times Paul
  10. I remember seeing this hot rod plenty of times, last time I saw it a "A" trailer had been added and it was pulling a B double or B train Would of been getting some age on it then but still looked shmick Paul
  11. I have grease fittings both cap and saddle I'm just poking along learning as I go still There is quite a lot different in Australian Macks than US Macks and a lot of difference between West and East coast Macks Australian and NewZealand Macks arevery different as well But it makes sense that there be a relief and not just pressure in Paul
  12. Ordered and on their way Noticed I can get them up to 600 psi I reckon the grease would be coming out all over the place at 600 psi Paul
  13. Thanks Joey Paul
  14. Lots of different loads going on there, looks like you have a job were everyday is different Sounds like your getting paid for living your dream Paul
  15. I quickly did some googling and found these came in different PSI levels As in O.25 - 1 psi 1 - 5 psi 15 - 25 psi My question is, what are the ones on the trunions meant to be ? Paul
  16. Well best get into it then Paul
  17. Thanks JoJo, I'll look into this, have never seen such a item on a trunion in Australia Have seen plenty of cracked caps from been greased from the wrong end Im guessing Paul
  18. I was told the painting of castings was to stop oil seeping thru possible porous spots on castings This was on big industrial gearboxes, is in drives maybe 4 feet high I assumed it was correct what I was told However after reading freight trains comments I am wondering if I was fed a line as young gullible person The reason I say this because the inside of my Macks fuek tanks are painted with red stuff like the block That block looks amazing, what is this dremel flexible head wire wheel doohickie mentioned, it does a impressive job as did the hand holding the dremel thingy Paul
  19. Im thinking everyone's comments are pretty spot on Guessing as others have suggested the bolts were stripped when the trans was put back in Someone maybe just done them up with abig ass rattle gun some how and the bolts were cross threaded, we can only guess now as to how or what or why Need to remember just how mjch of a pizziling a truck takes on high speed off road use in plenty of spots around the world and the bolts dont break after years of abuse so a love tap from a little car like that is like pissing in ocean and watching the tide rise I just dont see it's gunna happen, but I probably am wrong Paul
  20. Whats this bleeder you mention Joey ? I have only seen grease nipples or zerks I think you blokes call them on the end caps Paul
  21. Gotta agree Joey As time goes more and more people will choose EV's but some never will I reckon the same thing would of happened when motor cars replaced the horse I dont reckon we should force anyone to change at all If these are all they are made out to be we will choose them anyway Paul
  22. Dunno Bob I reckon on city delivery there will be plenty of demand, government departments and local councils and shires or what ever you blokes call your local governments will be falling hand over fist for the latest gizmo Personally it makes a lotta sense to me for city type of businesses to buy these, cheap to run, short hauls and so on But as Swishman says "Wattadoeyeno" Paul
  23. Stainless steel sleeves are the go out here Last for ever, longer than a new wheel cylinder does Paul
  24. I have heard of blokes jacking up one back wheel, putting the truck in top gear, wrapping rope around the wheel and a couple of blokes grabbing in and giving it a BIG PULL putt putt putt vroom Paul
