  15. why dont you fix the transmission the Mack 12 speed is pretty simple to work on if I can work on them anyone can !!!!!!!! they are fairly cheap to fix and everything will still line up eg Tail shaft mounts air lines ect ect I feel it would be a lot cheaper in the short and long run Paul

  19. interesting enough Swishy I seem to recall reading somewhere bought a new KW with air start and was a Mack system I seem recall reading that on a post somewhere no doubt Swishy will be along fairly soon to put me right As far as batteries go they were fairly crappy up until the 70's or early 80's then they went real good and in the last 10 years they have gone crappy again I feel Paul

  21. HA HA I can see why you fell in love with it It's big and its tough and its Mack 3 out of 3 what more could you want mate theres most likely not much wrong with it just a bit of time and so common sense and it will most likely go again as long as the motor isnt seized Paul

  24. And more than that Timmy them Yanks lazy buggers that they are years ago their steering wheel was on the same side of the road as ours but when they pulled up in their towns and their dirt roads were all mud they pulled up on the wrong side of the road so they hopped out onto drier mud but the problem was to many were having accidents when taking off because they sat on the wrong side so pretty soon some yank had the bright idea to put the wheel on the other side and only the passengers got out in they dry mud or at least that was on a documentary once on TV sought of makes sense to me who knows though now Paul
  25. I was recently informed by someone over in the states that air start was a cold start feature of a Mack and only used in colder parts of the US ??? I was surprised at this as almost all Macks in Australia say from the mid 50's till the lat 90's had air start and I was always under the impression we had air start out here for all the heat and vibration as batteries never lasted long out here and fail at the drop of a hat even today Is there a feature for shutting down the air start tank??? I had never heard of this are the air start trucks in the US plumbed different than out here ???? The Mack motor must be a good starter in the cold climate as you only 10 seconds at the most I was surprised to hear that they start that well in bellow freezing Just wondering if anyone knows about what air start really was for ??? interested in any thoughts on this Paul
