  1. Sorry mate, bad Australian slang Having a crack means to really have a good go at trying something, nothing at all to do with cracked cab parts Paul
  2. I was helping a mate pull one of these motors out of his Toyota Landcruiser yesterday Anyway we pulled the motor right apart and his son who is engine machinist is going rebuild it After we had it all apart I was watching a YouTube video on these motors and it says that the push rods are harder one end than the other and to mark the push rods as they come out Well we never did oop's Does anyone on here know of a way pf checking push rods to find which end is the hard end ?? And if not , how critical is it with push rods ???? The You tube video that mentions about the push rods Any advise or help appricated Paul
  3. Bugger me, thats fairly having a crack taking it back that far Keep us posted as it progresses Paul
  4. Great stuff and all part of the fun of drag racing Have never seen or heard of a 500 Caddie motor as they would be all most impossible for parts in Australia Having plans of building my own Australian style gasser in the not to distant future Been Australian style it will be 6 cylinder in a Aussie car, just finding half decent cars now days is getting really costly or Im way out of date lol Paul
  5. Was all going to plan till she went "BANG" Ah the fun of reving hard lol Paul

  7. I would have thought you could change it ok as you can get plenty of different brand 2 inch pins rated in excess of 100 ton Paul
  8. Even on this side of the world those poxy blue and LED head lights make it hard Thankfully I dont live were areas are heavily populated so it isnt as big a drama I havent been able ro buy Cibie super oscars for some years and even the bull lights are getting pretty thin on the ground I put a set of Narva driving lights on Mrs Mack last year and they have some type of white lamp and I find them better than all the older brands Narva Ultima's 225 I think thry were Paul
  9. Thanks Vlad, glad you found some diff centers No white flys here, just them anyoing little black buggers also known as "dunny buggies" (dunny is slang for toilet and buddgie is a small Australian bird, hence small fly that hangs around a toilet) My grandfather drove NR Macks after WW2 as log trucks and always told me they had a top speed of 36 mph Paul
  10. I was watching a documentary some ueats ago about Carol King and was stunnedto learn a lot of the stuff you just mentioned, apparently the Princess already new most of it and was stunned at how dumb I really am 😀😀 Paul
  11. I do like Slim and he does have plenty of good songs Tim Maikshilo shared some Merican music with me some years ago that I dont mind I searched for a while to findthis again and I reckon these young blokes do a pretty good job Another one from the US which I dont mind at all is I reckon this one is pretty good as well Seems to me there is some pretty good music still getting made these days Mind you there is also a lot of rubbish as well and I just have to search a bit harder and longer to find good music Paul
  12. Good to see a couple of NR's getting looked after I seem to recall you were looking for a different diff ratio for yours Vlad? I may have that wrong , what ratio did they come with when new and what ratio are you chasing (this is of corse if you were looking for a different diff) Paul
  13. That's great news that it is fixed by the sounds of it Its a shame it has taken so long and so much money was thrown at it before it was sorted, but none of this matters now as the truck is going again Paul
  14. So what's happened to this here jigger ? Did yah get the truck sorted yet ? Paul
  15. Im pretty sure there is air worthy amd flying connie at Longreach air museum that was used on the Kangaroo hop as it was known (London Sydney) back in its day And John Travolta also had one paunted QANTA's colours Paul
  16. What size pin is the 5th wheel A 2 inch pin is good for over a 100 tons on road train or low loader Some blokes use a 3 inch pin but they arent as common Paul
  17. You can still buy them new in from Mack Australia, but at a $1000.00 each I gave it a miss Paul
  18. Kato was first sold and imported to Australia by WESTCO the same company that owned Mack Australia up until the 80's All the bigger Kato's were mounted on Mack chassis at the start Paul
  19. There's a few problems with this grand plan First is we are already over crowded for my liking ( I like my space and freedom) And all these jokers are gunna be a tad bit thirsty as we are already running a tad bit low on water now If we spread the rainfall of the whole of Australia across this wide brown land I have been told it would only average about 4 inches Best solution to population control is marriage and kids, either of those two put a hell of a damper on the romance stakes I had a fella ask me some years ago if I believe in aliens?? This is not a normal question to be asked so I gave it some thought before I answered I told this fella that I reckon there's a very good chance we might be the aliens as in most sci fi movies I have seen the aliens wanna come and rape the joint till its buggered and the shoot thru It appears we are doing a pretty good job of that our selves Anyway enough thinking from me lol Paul
  20. It wont be the input shaft as the clutch plates don't slide on the shaft If it is in the bell housing area it would be the carrier that carries the throw out bearing binding in the housing it slides on or the fork catching some how When and if you drop the tranny again measure all this stuff your self and dont rely on a mechanic to check this as most have no idea these days Paul
  21. A very interesting thing came across faceless book the other day The M.I.T I'm fairly sure is Melbourne Institute of Technology , was called the R.M.I.T back in my day Paul
