They are about in Australia but very thin on the ground There was one advertised a few years ago but the bloke wanted 5 grand or more I wish I could remember were as I would track down the details as at that price he would most likely still have it It is probably far cheaper to bring one in from the States, just rent a corner in a shipping container and pay by the square meter Paul

L Fire Engine Restoration

I gather fuel line is some type of rubber ? Maybe when you get a new line made up slide a tight fitting spring over the out side to prevent it kinking again It's hard to believe 20 years has nearly passed since 9-11 Paul -

Thats a huge difference, sometimes it feels like we are getting no were at all Thank goodness we have smart phones that take photos these days, kinda shocks us back to reality Paul -
I guess it depends on your deale, Mack in Townsvilleare perfect, its quicker for me to order stuff over the phone and get it air bagged to the other end of the country Traralgon are good Dubbo is pretty good as well Laverton are okay SwanHill are okay Mildura are a waste of time, yet they own the SwanHill branch It really depends on the dealer But hands down Jenny in Townsville is the best and the rest of Townsville spare parts crew are pretty bloody good as well Paul

Well Im guessing a couple of things What part of the world are you in ? Maybe no one knows of any for sale,I dont know of any Dunno a little more information on who what when and were and just wait and see They aren't groing trees and are getting thinner on the ground every day Paul

People including me dont understand fully how the fuel system works If any of the valves etc are leaking mentioned here are leaking it is only a issue if you have a leak in the return line If any of these valves leak and lets fuel return to the tank the return line when sealed air tight and fully functional will siphon fuel from the tank thru the injector pump until there is a balance of vacuum between the supply and the return What this does is maintains the prime under any conditions People change valves, add check valves and do this and do that and it appears to solve the problem Then one day maybe a month, maybe a year maybe 5 years time for no apparent reason it has lost prime when sitting Might be a microscopic piece of dirt under a valve, a spring has lost a poofteenth of tension and the valve never shut correctly However the misconception we are under is that bloody vavle has failed again It hasn't, diesels are desgined for this to happen and when they do the return side of the fuel system is meant to siphon fuel up from the tank to maintain prime This is the part people do not understand and some just plain refuse to accept I wont be drawn into a long drawn out conversation about it, I will explain the facts and leave you to Not been rude here and not trying to be a smart ass, just trying to explain whats what and how it works Paul

Started my 44K Hub Pilot Conversion....
mrsmackpaul replied to Fastduramax's topic in Driveline and Suspension
Well I guess it depends on the part of the world you live in, I personally prefer them, quick to change, stronger than 10 stud bud rims and are pretty quick and simple to handle Paul -
You have a leak in your return to the tank fuel lines Pressurize the tank a little to find the leak Use a old piece of inner tube and a hose clamp over filler neck Wind the air pressure regulator right down on the work shop compressor and pressurize the system and the search for the leak Good luck Paul

Hmmmmmm, I don't know of anyone in Australia that has done this Our 44's look different in Australia and have a big cone on the out side and a axle with a spline on each end that floats I do believe there is a large bush, spacer or washer on the inside of the inside bearing, goes between the bearing and the axle housing I would use the brake shoe as a guid, if it's still sitting in the drum in the correct position I would call it good Paul -
I think I can understand why the chassis was cut, I guess ut is to do with strengthening and adding clearance etc It is quite the job but should make a huge difference to slow speed driving In Australia with Australian built trucks they increased the castor angle to make them easier to turn when moving slow, the down side to this was the wandered a bit at speed Once the axle is stood back up and power steering added they then steer more like a modern truck I wonder if this is the case with your truck ? This is what I would expect to happen, the only leak it wont show up is the pipe inside the tank that returns the the fuel to the bottom of the tank Paul -

An Anthem and a Couple Gold Bulldogs
mrsmackpaul replied to autocardc's topic in Modern Mack Truck General Discussion
I've gotta say these Anthems are growing on me slowly The US Pinnacle to me is the best looking Mack in the US line up today Paul -
I tried doing that type of thing Vlad but the internet can be extremely slow and the whole process became bogged down so the Postimage account works well for me now Paul

If you cant hear anything at all, try turning the truck off once it is full of air and then rotating the knob Sounds like you have no air supply getting to the box for some reason But first things first, establish a full air charge with the truck, ie start and run till it has built up pressure Then stop the truck and try rotating the switch control on the gear stick It will not matter if it's in gear or not Rotate thru from left to right allowing a moment at each position Yoy should hear puffs of air going thru the gear stick control Paul
-
In the rear section of the box you have high split, low split and reverse The high-low split and reverse are mechanically interlocked, it sounds to me that these have bound up for some reason and I would do as Joey suggests Pull the lid and have a look This is a fare bit of stuffing about to do this but it can be done with out dropping the box out If its a air ride cab stick a jack under the cab between the chassis rail and the cab floor and jack it up as high is it will go without damaging anything With the floor out and the cab up you can get it out okay, getting it back in and lined up right is the hard part But before you do all of this, can you hear the shifters going clunk etc as you rotate the knob ? The mechanical interlock is situated in the blue circled area, theres a nolt doo hicky were the arrow points were the mechanical interlock comes outfor working Paul
