  1. Thanks for that, clear as mud now Paul
  2. Okay you blokes, I have been educated on a wife beater, to me a disgusting term but thats a whole other subject not related at all to trucks But what are slides ? Paul
  3. Good for you, couldn't make it ride any worse lol Should be a lot more enjoyable to drive about now Paul
  4. Maybe between running a really low pressure and removing spring leafs you might get a acceptable ride Does your back end have shockers on it at all, not all Mack bogie drives do, dunno about single drive, if you were to pull leaves out and you had no shockers it may tend to bounce a lot Should be a interesting exercise Paul
  5. This is what I need to do to my truck, a bloke I know has a KW brute and pulls tripple road trains thru some of the roughest country in Australia hauling cattle, he keeps right up to date with his air system and he can park over night and the air hasn't dropped at all Which is quite impressive when I consider all the joins and quick release couplings to get to the back trailer and the age of the truck and trailers, they would all be well over 20 years of age My truck, 1/2 hour and we have lost plenty of pressure lol Paul
  6. Looks good, welcome to the forum Paul
  7. Well you buggered that up, thats for sure There is good news, you arent the first person to do this, I can speak from experience here Hopefully the head isnt going to leak, if it does leak you will need to find a new head Cast iron cant he heated like this, for future reference Drill the stud out a fare bit, fill the hole with a mig welder and build it up enough to grip onto with vice grips and it will just wind out I wish I had a better answer but you cant heat big lumps of cast iron like this and expect to get away with it Not been a smart ass just answering your question Paul
  8. Oh okay my misunderstanding, so they are sealed bearings then, I best but out of this as I haven't seen this hub before Paul
  9. To answer your question about changing a wheel bearing, I have9changed one of this particular wheel bearings myself That been said I see no reason it would be different to any other wheel bearing Jack it up Block it so it can't fall down and is safe to work on Back the brake off Undo cap on the hub and remove the two big nuts and washers remove wheel and hub as one Remove bearing bits from hub and axle, including the seal Clean everything Reassemble in the reverse When tightening the big nut, do up tight then back off one and a half flats Assemble the remainder, fill with oil Re adjust brake drive away Or at least thats how I would tackle it if it was mine I hope tuts is of some help Paul
  10. Most coaches, if not all have full air bag suspension in Australia, I doubt the US is any different When you pull up to the gutter you just flick (normally marked kneel) a swith and the front end lets the air out to make the step closer to the ground Gotta remember most buses the driver sits out in front of the front axle On some of Australias high quality roads it feels like Im in a washing machine 😔 around and around lol Paul
  11. How about a air ride steer axle off a bus ? should give a smooth ride and good handling Yes its all a lot of dicking around but Macks have never been known for a smooth ride Paul
  12. Some Australian Autocar action from back in the day here, no audio, before smart phones and video cameras on every phone Leader trucks and whites as well Enjoy Paul
  13. Tah muchly Swishman, your spoiling me Paul
  14. That's a classy looking ride Is that on 24 inch rubber ??, the tyres really seem to fill the guards out Paul
  15. Not yet and not likely to in Australia I hope they sell like hot cakes Paul
  16. Timothy Maikshilo would be the man to ask when he is on here, he drives in NewZealand and came rrom New England A crap road is a crap road no matter were you are, those really loooooooooong wheel base prime movers or tractors or what ever you blokes call them would be a issue even in Australia It would be good to come and compare, just to see how the other half live Paul
  17. Dont worry the rest of world has known that for decades lol
  18. Well I googled the show, turns out even Google doesnt know why the chimp was in the show but the rest of what I remember was pretty close https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/B._J._and_the_Bear Im more stunned about the fact it was 40 years ago !!!!! Bugger me were did the time go ? Paul
  19. I think driving and sitting in the right has everything to do with been right handed and that goes back a long way, long before motor vehicles were even thought of Like when you shake some bodies hand, you hold sword in your right hand Your right hand was used for so much more than swapping cogs When you shake someones hand it shows people whether your friend or foe, armed or unarmed, that's why our near and dear lady friends walk on our left so we can protect them with our right hand, our fighting hand All your stage coaches and bullock teams were on the left of the road so it only made sense for motor vehicles to be on that side as well But as more cars came along very quickly there were issues that appeared that no one had thought of and eventually people in the US changed because it made more sense then but today it wouldn't make any difference as long as everyone drove on the same side In Europe there are plenty of RHD cars and trucks driving on the right and vice versa for LHD as cars and trucks change countries all the time Paul
  20. So did anyone go to this ? anyone got some picturesto share ?
  21. Now back when cars etc were new on your roads, most roads were dirt and mud and crappy So when people pulled up driving on the correct side of the road they had to walk thru the mud to get to were they were going, so most people would pull up on the wrong side of the road and step onto the clean dry foot path Problem with this was when they went to pull back into the traffic people couldnt see the traffic as they sat on the wrong side and would pull into traffic, accidents and deaths happened all over the place as a result The T model Ford was the first car Ford produced with LHD, up until WW1 RHD cars etc were still a common site in the US Jay Leno has spoken about this plenty of times on his youtube channel and the fact the most Americans have no idea that everyone drove on the other side in the beginning Dont know what year it officially changed in the US but given that government departments would of been involved it would of been a state by state thing I guess as egos would no doubt of got in the way and common sense is rare in any government department Paul
  22. You lot used to drive on this side of the road to but changed do to crappy roads in the US at the time Im pretty sure I have mentioned this on here before Paul
  23. Yes the trucks and the forum bring together a group of rat bags that most part get along pretty darn well It also shows no matter what part of the world we are from we aren't really that much different Paul
  24. Remind to never let you blokes know if I'm selling something Bugger me Paul
  25. Last time I got those plastic nuts for the air cleaners was only a few years ago at Mack in Townsville, they just ordered them in not a problem Paul
