  1. Brad I like your upside down pictures....those were cool...keep up the good work LOL
  2. That's a great looking r model and I really like the 700L. I recently bought a 12 speed for my RS700L and hope to have it in soon. I also added an air ride cab set up a few years back and it rides pretty good. Would like to swap in some superliner front springs to soften it up even more.. Thanks for posting up these great looking Chicago Mack's..
  3. Here is the reliable engine and trans in the celli frame. Tanks were from the reliable truck as well.
  4. I bought that truck about 10 years ago. It was in funks old yard at rt22 and 14. I was 22 years old and had just found my first Chicago b model. The cab had no floor inside. Had old for sale signs used for a fake floor Rust holes around every window. The rear wall had a steel brace that I assume was to hold it to the frame because the rust was so bad. Double frame was spreading so bad that the rails were cracked in 3 spots. It had the air assist but not hooked up. Rear camelbacks had the old roto chambers. He took off the winch as part of the deal we made. I payed too much but did Manage to part it out and save the engine, doors, hood, fenders, and rear ends. Put some of that stuff into the CTC b model I bought a few years later. Frame rails and front axel went to superdogs place in IA.Trent
  5. When you put the new roof on you might have to put n those rivit nuts. Make sure you use good nuts and use a proper tool. Otherwise they will spin in the skin. I tac welded mine just to be safe.
  6. I always looked at Mack for off road and built for it. Pete and kw were on road driver comfort. But this is from a view point of someone that drove them in that same fashion.
  7. I bought a reliable wrecking b model from N J funk. It was set up with a 711 and 20 speed. Frame and cab were beyond repair. Should have passed on it but it was one of the only b models I had seen.
  8. I did the roof on my r model 2 years ago. Well worth the work if rust is showing. I also put in sound deadening sheets and insulation. Helps big time with noise. While that roof is off spray the insides of the a pillar with rust preventive that will slow any issues that may not be present o. The surface. And while you are there you may want to run a few wires down the a pillar for any extra lights external cb speaker, roof strobe etc....or stuff you may want to add down the road. Keep up the good work.
  9. The magnums all had v8 for power. Think they could be only specked in 500 hp rating. Think they all had red interior as well.
  10. They had a nice fleet of r models. Sadly i don't see them very often. Always had a nice blue paint job with matching trailer. There is another trucking company that had a lot of blue r models around Melrose park. Can't remember their name right now..
  11. That seat has about 10" of travel. I bet it rode just fine.
  12. Always wondered that too.... So is a extended 359 hood the same length as a 379 standard hood?. I always liked a 359 with the standard hood
  13. Are 44k spiders different than 34k? I thought all the spider did was hold the brake shoe and air brake stuff. .? If your changing hubs say from Spoke to budd. I think all you need is to swap the hub, bearings, nut, lock nut, from one axel to the next..
  14. Im to young to see and remember it first hand but It seems that it opened up the competition to everyone, good that cost of shipping was lower and that the owner operater could get his hands in the game. But bad that any fool with a truck ran the rates so low that it ruined it for the guy that wanted to own a truck, house and provide for a family.....and get to see all of them....
  15. I think regardless of who's engine is in it. You should let the mfg push Mack engines but offer others as well. Not everyone wants a Mack engine. I think a class 7 Mack truck is a way to rebrand the name.
  16. Send Mhe9 a message. He hauls lots of stuff on a drop deck. And think he just bought a low boy?
  17. Saw this on the mack web site....its a 6 wheeler but with the cummins engine. http://www.macktrucks.com/assets/MackMarketing/Brochures/GraniteBrochures/MCKTRK_7760_GrMdHvyDtySS.pdf
  18. Think they want in the state and county market... It could be a good move. Hope they will offer a few engine choices.
  19. thats a 3rd gear shift right there....classic example of a perfect shift...LOL
  20. Good read Al Is their parts and service center still around after they knocked down the old building?
  21. Tanzillo Contractors RD Glider kit, Driver: Anthony Tanzillo 300 with a 2 stick 6 speed has the 4.17 camelback rears out of the blue RS700L formerly owned by the guy that also owned the purple and silver striped RS700L from Round Lake IL.
  22. Pic might help me.......but thinking it might be a shift rail housing your thinking of. ?
  23. More importantly , what were the torque ratings? Think the stock v8 Mack was only 1600ftlbs?
  24. Bull husk has a v12 rs700l. It needs cowel extension panels to make it fit.
  25. They made an air version and electric. As far as I know the coupling was the same not sure if it mounts in the same holes. A later model rd should work?
