  4. So if my vin is Rs786lst32474 it was the 31,474 off the line? What did I miss? There were only 27698 made??
  5. Talked to the guy today he said it last was used full time 7 years ago...used as a yard dog for the past 5. Needs work to drive it home...bad tires etc...
  6. Looks like you have the mack automatic power divider. It locks in when wheel slip is detected. You won't know most times when it is engaged. It's nice because most of the time it locks in before you know you need it. The manual "air switch" power divider you had to lock it in before you went off road and remember to unlock it before you ran down the road and burned it up..both have their good and bad points...
  7. R= Rmodel L =Aluminum frame 700= long hood Series L= light weight components yes air ride was offered back then. it was popular with western trucks of that time
  8. Interesting..I thought the superliners would have out numbered the RS.RL models but it looks to be the other way......was there a brake down on the RS/RL Production?
  9. biggest issue is parts. Even the later E9 V8 stuff is either very $$$, hard to get. The older V8 parts are always out of stock. you can still get aftermarket but who knows the quality. Just as heavy steel frames had issues of spreading and cracking....The Alum Frame can be just as much or even more of an issue if it was neglected. look around all the spring hangers, cross members motor mounts etc... where ever steel and Aluminum meet without protection it can erode and become weak. some times they held up great if the truck had alot of oil leaks and was looked after properly. My advice is to really inspect that frame for cracks or patch jobs. Hopefully he has some paperwork on who did the rebuild. ask about the pump as well, some of the V8 fuel pumps cost as much as a complete 6cyl overhaul....no joke... Trent
  10. That is a great idea....and would be sad wake up call...

  17. Thru the years there were many versions of r models... R, rs,rl,rd,superliner, valuliner,rb,bcr, crew cab, export versions.... Those are the basic ones I can think of. The u and dm model shared the same basic cab But even ith the offset cab family there were many versions. You had Gas job R400 Standard R600 wich was the most common long hood 700 series Heavy duty 800 series Fire trucks Western RS/RL 600/700 Think the r700 was introduced in the late 60s and continued until the early 80's Western Mack's were built in hayward California and focused on light weight trucks for western markets. That plant was closed sometime in the 80's Mack, cat, cummins,Detroit,AC, in all sizes were offered at one point or another.
  18. I really think that the MHD could grab some people's attention so long as its priced correctly for its competition.
  19. Love to see all these rare Mack's. Some of these are mack models I have never seen before.. Rick... Very nice model you created. Love the attention to detail!
  20. Some upside-down pics are not all that bad...just depends on the point of view... Enjoy your day.
  21. I think I see a few r models every now and then. Most are ch now but I swear I saw a r model in the last few years. I don't think celli is as big as paulmbo but they were one of the larger fleets around....
  22. I would love to just see you walk in and hand that artical to the judge and see the dumb look on his face....
