  1. Last Friday I ended my 13 year career in auto racing. It was a hard choice but lack of time home in the summer and poor wages vs time invested made it clear it was time to move on if an agreement could not be meet. After a few weeks back and fourth an no head way made I gave notice. Kinda sad how it all went down but it is what it is.. I am now working full time with the Tanzillo family. They do some excavating and lots of low boy work. My main job is driving truck #35. 400 with an 8LL on 44k air ride. She does pretty good for a small truck. Easy to get around town in and no big blind spots. Feel right at home in the old R model.
  2. Only if it was not looked after properly...does the steel parts of the truck have bad rust? Is the frame pitted badly around any steel parts bolted to the frame?
  3. Need to see pics, sounds like a western hood or Heavy duty R model hood...
  4. Hold on....steel and your trying to polish it? That will be very hard to do..besides a machined finish I have never seen mirror finished steel or anyone try to polish steel......most shiny diamond plate is aluminum. You need a buffer and cutting wheels And it is a pita to get all the tarnish out of it...
  5. Milwaukee has the Harley Davidson museum...thats a cool place if your into bikes. Few truck junk yards just north of the il border on the east side of 94 Other than that it's just farms and cheese....lol!
  6. Shameless plug.. I had to relocate a buddy's storage trailer today...snapped a quick pic...
  7. He was saying he will be in Yakima for the ATHS show. he mentioned being in the ATHS shows in South bend and the show in CA last year...
  8. Was parked next to this old girl that is still working. Found it last night at Joes Truck stop on I-5 in Cental CA. Woke up this morning and it was still there so I snapped a few pics. Lots of modern drivetrain added but still neat to see on the road. has a N14 cummins, air ride rears, new front axel all out of a 2007 IH. The owner was very nice and we chatted for about 15 min, said that the truck has had many upgrades thru the years. Sadly he was rear ended a week ago by some illeagal Mexachan truck driver and it damaged his rear fenders and bunk when it pushed his load forward and into the bunk. He attends alot of the ATHS shows and knows alot of people who attend them. Trent
  9. I worked for UPS back in the late 90s the maintaince shop at the time did most of the truck repairs. I recall seeing crate engines and rear ends just waiting to be installed. even with their package cars they did most of the repair work. As the equipment got old they moved them to emergency or yard equipment. after that they would come in strip the stickers off the trucks red tag them and park em out side in a corner. about once a year they would round up the junk and send them off to the scrap yards. Only seen a few make their way back to the streets with miss matched parts to get them back on the road. they did the same with package cars.
  10. I'm picturing this and have to agree with your brother....that it is funny!
  11. Looks like he dropped the deck on that to get under....
  12. Ha ha... Love that feeling... I was running up Mounteagle coming back from Florida a few weeks back. Passed an empty parking lot and skate board. I'm grossing 74,000 held 55-58mph in direct. Those guys were dropping down to 45mph empty....lol
  13. The Black RD has a E7400-8LL- and think 4.17 on air ride The Pete has a Cat550 with 18 speed not sure the rear ratio but it's on air ride as well.
  14. Here are a few more stolen from Facebook.
  15. No problem... I should note that the red rd is a glider kit. Its still red and his brother drives it now... Actualy pj and I moved a machine and attachments this past weekend. I drove the red RD and it's a great running truck. I will grab some more pics next time I'm at the yard.
  16. here is the Pete and his RD last summer. His older r model is pictured in 06' or 07' we were running clay out of Chicago. I don't have any others on my phone . I will check my computer for more..
  17. if i remember right PJ hauling started with 2 of his dads " Tanzillo" R models just hauling dirt. PJ later bought a late 90s Rd on air ride from a chicago fleet that i think hauled bulk cement? He ran all 3 trucks for a while hauling both dirt and lowboy. He sold off both R models about 3 years ago and focused with just his newly rebuilt RD. his RD just did lowboy work as the dump trucking dried up...Last year he bought a ex central crane 4 axel Pete for even bigger moves. That RD is great for the everyday stuff needed in the city and the Pete moves the real big stuff. We keep talking about building him a 4 axel superliner with a big inline 6 cyl for power..
  18. That truck had a 300L with a 6 speed. It was a 62mph truck untill the pump was tweaked. Last time I drove it it was turning 2200rpm and was good for about 73mph.....75 if you pushed real hard on the floor boards.
  19. Cool idea Witt the over head console. The plastic ones always crack with age...
  20. I have them on my RS and like them. Mine have lights at the tops as well...My thought is that if you have a long hood. Your all good. Just don't put those spot mirrors on the hood!
  21. I have seen some Fuel haulers with a weird looking muffler. Way to big and hanging on the rear of the cab. Wonder how much weight those things add? NO THANKS!
  22. Wait....you let that little day cab pass that big old V8 of yours? Please tell me you just entered the hiway from an on ramp!!!! LOL
