  1. welcome to the site. looks like you will fit right in here. We have alot of V8 fans here and im shure you will be helping them out with questions soon. Its still a sought after engine but parts are scarse today. Again welcome to the site Trent
  2. how do you get in it LOL!!!
  3. Yep you get 3 letters then suspension. In fairness it takes about 4 months of warning letters. If you dont pass they give you a month or more o fix the issue. I had to have a 91 suberban and 89 chevy tested 2 years ago and both failed the gas cap test. My work is only a mile from the facility so I went back and stole a gas cap from a frined and went back,Passed the test both times with the same gas cap LOL! I think IL emissions is baced on the area and population that the car or truck is taged in.If I recall a few years back, Mc Henry county they did not have emissions, fast forward to today and they do as its getting populated. Trent
  4. 34,000 thats for a complete finished cab correct? A local guy just replaced his Cab on his 80s valuliner. It was from the local mack dealer and I thought it was 20-30K for a complete cab??
  5. Rob I think its more of a chicago land thing as all my newer cars get letters about every 3 years I think they law just changed recently to only test cars 1992 and newer? my 91 toyota did not get a notice this year and I was expecting it. I know I have frineds that live out in the sticks and they dont get hastled with letters like I do. Trent
  6. I got an emission letter about 2 years ago and had to go in for a test. It passed with the switch in the "normal" position
  7. Hi Dave It was a great show, Very sorry we missed you. Im shure We will be there again next year! Brad How did PJ do driving the B. He got scared when I told him "I think it has a Quad" LOL See ya Thursday for the truck pull Trent
  8. it turns the puff limiter on or off. its just for smoke shows. normaly its plumbed into the parking brake to actavate its operation. I just put it on a dash switch. Trent
  9. The truck im thinking of has a 36"sleeper dual stacks simmilar paint job etc... it hauls a dump trailer parks near the fox lake Trainstation? I never see the truck working? but would like to chat with him one of these days Rob I can get you a few pics of the bracket under the dash. My camera is down right now but One of the superliners in the yard has dual cleaners. I dont hink you can use the kick vent with the air cleaner installed and the intake tube goes thru a panel that attaches to the cab simmilar to the pass side. Trent
  10. I have 3 air switches on my dash. PTO,tailgate, puff limiter all are of the simple lever style. I took them out of a wrecked pete at a junk yard
  11. WOW That RS/RL is from my town but I have never seen it before! I think the owner owns a Superliner now?
  12. just like the guys that still say a no power sterring truck is no big deal in the city. I had my RS for 1 year before I converted it to PS!!! those city jobs just killed my arms!!! When I bought my first B model the guy dropped it off with a mechanical detach. It worked fine to detach but lots of BS to get the pins back in when hooking back up. Im shure it was the best of the best back in its day but times have changed. Trent
  13. Yea Herb same way here in the city, Heard many old storys of crews leaving the boom on and letting the operator and truck driver do there job. I have moved a few machines where the operator just sat in the cab and we went a few miles down the street. of corse this was on a sunday morning or a back road away from the fuzz.

  15. Larry, when ever you need a new trailer to haul your dragster around,Ill set you up with a real nice featherlite simmilar to this trailer, just dont worry about the price we can talk about that later LOL just get all those springs back under your B Trent
  16. I like to just set the idle RPM up to the pont that it lets the oil press get up to 45-50 PSI. I think this is around 800-900RPM trent
  17. yea we need to know you rear end ratio to give a better idea if it will work. The 2070 has a real big Overdrive. most Macks I have seen with 2070s had slow rears ...5.55-5.73 etc... the 12 speed dose not have as big of an overdrive. so if your rears are to slow your top end will be to slow 45-50 MPH etc... then again a "standard RPM" 300 pump could get your RPMs up to 2100 and get your top end back. Most will say The 12 speed is a great trans, one of the better ones mack offered in the R model. you can drive it like a 5 speed or split the gears to pull a hill and still. have 5 reverse gears when backing. oh and the Low low hole will still let ants pass you up LOL Let us know the rear end ratio trent
  18. I work full time at Carl Haas Auto Imports. the same owner runs his parnerships Newman Haas Lanigan IRL team out of the same building . My main gig is to rebuild dampers and drive one of the 4 trucks to the race tracks. Its still fun to travel if I run alone but the traveling is getting old. I would say its better than hauling freight but like anything it gets old with age. This year my scedual has been very relaxed and have spent all summer home. I needed the brake from the road so im not complaining. THE IRL has about 20 race weekends. I would never want to run with the nascar crowd. not just becasue I dislike the cars but the 40 some odd weekends that they race..NO THANKS!!. I will be back up in RA later next weekend for the ALMS and Atlantic race. If anyone is up that way let me know.
  19. Herb, I tried covering up the chicago accent but I think my slicked back black hair and dark sunglasses was a shure giveaway that I was not a local LOL!!!
  20. Had to haul a Champ car trailer From Road America raceway in Elkhart lake WI back to the chicago burbs took a few pics of the truck a the oasis and back at the shop. Not a bad combo in my opinion new million dollar trailer with a 30 year old truck. Lots of looks at the track and on I-94 heading home.
  21. I have seen a few mid 70s R700s with V8 detroits but never any superliners I have heard there were a few made. Most superliners I see have the std mack 6 or v8 mack, a few with cats and alot with BCcummins Trent
  22. Truck, car, bike and train show at the IRM http://www.irm.org/ lots of vintage machines to be seen all in one place. you wont be dissaponted Trent
  23. an air to air will have likely 2 times more cooling fin surface than the charge air cooler box does. As said above,The tip turbines were good for there time but todays air to air is more efficent. If you want more boost, faster responce etc.. find a diffrent turbo. if you are working the truck dont get to crazy with a diffrent turbo set up. you may louse performace where you need it most? Trent
  24. Grease any zerks on the stering first. If that does not help it could be that your low on PS fluid? if the pump cavatates the oil it may make a high pitch vibration that sounds like a howl? or the steering box is forcing the spindle to contact the stops and the pump is fighting the stops? start with those
