  1. T, T', Your friend understands the economics. His 5-7000 miles a year figure makes the 7.3 the right choice for him. And I have to believe it would have worked even in the 650 -unless he has high mileage. Would it pull that Cat skid steer as well as a 6.7? No but again, unless he has high annual mileage with that, he would IMO be better off listening to his driver bitch about "not enough power" and enjoying the extra cash he has in the bank. And by the way, think of the old days. 25 years ago Ford built F-700's with 429 V-8's that at max were rated at like 238 HP and could be rated at 37,000 GVW/60,000 GCW! The 7.3 dwarfs that 429 in terms of HP/Torque , exceeds the 401 Super Duty Specs, and I think comes very close to beating the 477 Super Duty specs. And PC 68- your friend has a 7.3 and he regrets not getting the 6.7? This in a 550? How big a plow is he pushing?
  2. T', Stay in tune with your friend-key questions, how is it on gas and how is the power? As for cost, as Roadway pointed out 7.3 gas vs a Power Stroke is I believe an $8000 savings so I'm sure that diesel premium is pretty common across the board. Big thing is at this point GM does not offer a gas option in their new class 4,5 and 6's so Ford is holding the cards!
  3. Well I was thinking along those lines about the class 4,5,6 Chevy/Binders that are built at Sp'field. I may have seen two on the road. I also stop in once a month and drive through an Altech facility that is one town over. Place has always been loaded with F-450/550's awaiting installations. About two months ago when I drove through they had two chevys. Last week none. Reasonable to assume if International is knocking off manpower, as these JV trucks were additions to the plant's regular product mix, they are NOT selling as expected. My guess is with that tilt hood, they are more expensive than Ford or Dodge. How about it Roadway R-? What do you say about pricing as your company has bought some.
  4. wondering why anyone would buy a left hand drive in GB- then again if it spends most of its time on a ferry going back and forth to France maybe it makes sense.
  5. Well In the first shot I saw that Argo sitting on the dash and said ..".hmnn fleet truck for sure". Then read the write up-Shell Oil! Argo's were the thing "back in the day" when they took the place of the two Sangamo boxes. And guys bitched about them then. Can you imagine what these same guys would be saying today with all the electronics, cameras etc๐Ÿ˜Ž
  6. Nice Rich-but the MR needs spokes to be in that picture๐Ÿ˜Ž
  7. Thx for opinions guys. I'm just trying to get some info for owners who will be selling it.
  8. How about it guys. I am aware of a 359 that has that mileage. 13,161 to be exact! I'm told that the 3408 was a POS. " Fuel hog-certainly by todays standards and also had crankshaft problems". And to the skeptics-trust me -unusual situation, I sat in this thing-a true hangar queen, barn find- whatever. I'm thinking this is worth a lot of money as a truck you would put in service but others with far more knowledge than I say it is s nice "antique"- not a truck you would want to run inspite of no def, no computers etc etc.- all the reasons that made me think it was a better deal than a new truck. Fire away. And again-for real. Not..." I know a guy whose uncle has a friend who has....blah blah"
  9. Rest in peace. We can only hope some day they will have a handle on the dementia/Alzheimer issue.
  10. Very nice-and what is your typical load?
  11. Hah-you are gettin old pal-what took you so long ๐Ÿ˜Ž
  12. Thx for posting Hippy. Never been to museum but hope to. I think WOT had a good story on Coles not that long ago. In any case its safe to say there have been a lot of good things said about him.
  13. And he is in fact an antique as well๐Ÿคฃ
  14. And he is in fact an antique as well๐Ÿคฃ

  16. To any club members who check this site, be advised meeting Sat at Pop's Garage is canceled. Bob
  17. Wow-if that is a 94 they never took it out in the rain-or snow!
  18. Per WSJ editorial today....."A trial was expected in 2020 though more than 99% of defendants in Japan are convicted." Sounds like a very good reason to..."get outta Dodge" Another interesting comment, was that the guy who was key in getting Ghosn out-Hiroto Saikawa, was himself dumped by the Nissan board in September as they discovered he had taken "improper stock-based performance compensation in 2013". Have to wonder if this issue and the attention it will receive will lead to some big changes in Japan.
  19. And most important and in keeping with the the theme of this thread- Merry Christmas and good health to all in the coming year๐Ÿ‘
  20. Here you go Vlad- nothing like you probably have but 25" to date. And for you New England guys, different view of the Fairgrounds at Lancaster. No show trucks in this shot! Maybe we will break the 140+ inches of a couple of years ago- that year we had very little until mid January then it was at least one big storm a week for the next two months. And apologize for upside down view. I went to my "photos" and flipped the shot. Said..ah ha-got this figured out....wrong!๐Ÿ™„
  21. Ok-where are you in the video? If you are going to be famous, we have to be able to id you๐Ÿ˜Ž
  22. Do believe you nailed that-talk about a big rock crushing site!
  23. All good and valid points-including your last one. Did I vote for him? Yes. Will I vote for him again? Given what options we see now, for sure. Do I like him ? No! He IMO too often does come across as an arrogant, self centered jack ass who just likes to put himself in the limelight. But in my career did I work with people like that? As peers or subordinates? yes. But the key always was, did they deliver in terms of results? Yes or no. That is what counts. And at this point I have to say for sure he has delivered-for sure when you compare 8 years under BO. And having said that do I worry about him having the red phone on his desk? I do but again look at the options before us- are there any of them who would make me comfortable? No. I keep saying- "when are his handlers going to get him in control?" Case in point-last night another dumb ass performance when he played to the galleries when he shit on Dingell who ..."might be looking up". Implying he was in hell. and his comments that ..."I ordered the flags at half staff when he died and his wife called me up and was so grateful" . Then he proceeds to rip her a new AH because she voted for his impeachment. The message he put out.." I did something for her (lowered the flag)-and she voted against me" uh? quid pro quo?? What you would expect from a little rich kid whose daddy gave him a grub stake of a million. And who was always in the background running interference for Jr. Says he grew up in the construction business. Really? In his book he talked about when he took over the construction of the ice rink for the city he had .."the cement trucks lined up". Uh Donald, real construction guys know that "cement" is an ingredient that when added to sand and stone makes that wonderful product known as "concrete". By the way I drove one of those "cement" trucks- 104,000 lbs gross of portland cement -beautiful R Model and a Heil dry bulker!Insert other media He should win in a landslide with the clowns that I see on the debate tonight running against him. But I fear his continual juvenile attitudes will have too many people voting against him-just because he is so phony and arrogant. Maybe someone should have him spend some time watching tapes of Reagan in action. He might learn something. And last thought- I have seen videos of interviews he did 20 or 30 years ago. Perhaps he should look at those as well as in my mind he came across as a sensible guy who checked his ego at the door before he did the interview. Results will be forgotten when people-in particular women voters, cast their vote. At least as I see it...Fire away!
  24. Paul, Not a pump but a conveyor system. Amazing machine. Ive used for placing crushed stone on containment dikes. Two guys-one running loader charging the hopper and the operator with a remote box up on top of the dike controlling placement. biggest issue is you need if my memory serves me right over 20ft of clear area as outriggers telescope out- And also the daily rate$$$. but it sure beats a lot of other methods-cost effective for the right job. Not sure they are competitive though with concrete pumps. You can get pump trucks today that I think can exceed120'-in vertical reach that is-not sure about horizontal reach. Both however sure beat the old days of a long stick crane and concrete buckets!
