  1. Honest man! But I would say not outrageous. I was on I-91 in Conn the other day and saw a Pete triaxle that had one that was curved downward to the windshield divider-my guess- 8" from the hood.
  2. Well the left leaning Boston Globe had a big article yesterday covering all aspects of corona. In that article was a comparison of covid-19 vs the flu. As of March 11 there were 1039 confirmed cases in the US and 29 confirmed deaths . This was compared to an estimated 45 million cases of "flu" annually in US with "Up to 61,000" related deaths. So if you do an equation and using annual stats and the current 1039 number, we should have 1.4 deaths out of the 1039-not 29. They also had world wide stats and they say there are 121,000 confirmed cases and 4368 deaths. Doing the same math, they said there were 1 billion estimated "flu" cases annually worldwide, leading to 646,000 deaths. Doing the same math that says there should currently be 78 deaths world wide vs the 4368. As to the issue of secrecy, if idiots are out stocking up on toilet paper, just think of the panic that could set in if some facts are clearly understood. Our schools in my small town are closed today. With no reported cases that I know of. Is it the SAME as the flu? I don't think so. Is it the end of the world? Maybe for some who are elderly (ME!) and not in good health to begin with.
  3. Very good Rich-but you forgot the drop down visor for the ultimate cool look.😎
  4. Nice- That looks like "Bahama Beige", a Mobil Oil fleet color!
  5. Agree on the hood. I would think cab issue is a "non option"-that is where the economy of scale comes in. But the hood? Can't see why it has to be as "bulbous"-good word for it- as it is. How about it RR? Are there that many projections under that would preclude using a slimmer hood/fender design? Forget about appearance-just the savings in weight and improved visibility would I think justify a change. Remember when class 1-3 trucks had distinctive drop down fenders? Like 56 Fords and then the 57 came out and the hood was a square that extended out over the front wheels.
  6. Thx Jim- every time you post a shot of some beauty I say to myself..better do less talking and more walking-and not just at Macungie! It is a beauty-as is the B 77!!
  7. Jim- would you have a shot of that LTL-9000 that is parked next to the Big Horn in the back ground??
  8. Look at it this way Rich-better that you spent money on a truck that earns vs the R model😎
  9. For sure. That is what sucks about this whole electrification craze. Instead of it happening on its own and letting the market work it out, we are forced to subsidize a political agenda.
  10. 6.0? 6.4?
  11. With the opening of the Work Truck Show today, Ford finally announces some good news with respect to 650/750. The 7.3 V-8 should be a big seller for class 6 and 7 operators who need the GVW and reasonable power but don't run the miles to justify the diesel premium https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2020/03/03/ford-marks-35-years-of-commercial-vehicle-leadership.html
  12. Cabooses! I'm so old I remember early in my career dispatching and one stop was a Delaware & Hudson siding in Newburgh NY to fuel the stove in a caboose!
  13. Gateway Terminals is a large bulk material handler in New Haven Conn. Outbound scrap steel is one material they handle. Not sure if they still use them but they had a bunch of those 8 wheeled Internationals and they would drive out onto the pier where the scrap ships we tied up. The cargo cranes had what looked like huge drag line buckets and the trucks would back into the buckets, dump the load, then the cranes would lift them up and dump into the ship. Quite an operation. How about it Blackdog-still doing it that way?
  14. BH, Likewise. To my wife's dismay I saved most of my Mack national accounts calendars-same ones I'm sure that dealers/branches could purchase. So I asked "Siri" what years match 2020? Answer 1992. I'm now using my '92 Mack calendar again😎
  15. But what will ultimately translate to North America? In any case they are good looking. But old school as I am, I look at all of these features as longer term maintenance nightmares. Or from another perspective, you don't "fix" anything in the future--you rip out the "bad" module and install the new one. Not a knock on Volvo-just the way of the world these days IMO.
  16. Matt Almost 4 months to Brooklyn- any chance?
  17. wow--well cared for! You won't see many New England trucks of that age looking like that
  18. One thing for sure- like that separation of headlight and turn signal. should be a new federal standard to get turn signal out of same headlight bucket so you can SEE it
  19. good move if you can swing it. Just know for sure which 6 speed it has. The TRXL 107 has a low ratio of 14.10 and the TRXL 1071 has 23.08 ratio. I believe it was really ment for mixers so they could creep along while pouring curbs/sidewalks etc. Friend of mine has one and I quickly learned no way you could go from the hole and grab first direct-at least I couldn't.😰 But if you put the main in 2nd and the spliter in low you could take off with a load and then go to first direct with the splitter on the high side and you would maintain speed.
  20. Nice. 6 speed low hole would be nice, then again we ran many 237/5 speeds grossing 80,000! Too bad you can't buy such a bullet proof truck today
  21. 5 speed? Started life as a tractor??
  22. WS & G ?? Have never seen that one before!
  23. Looking good Rich-what are those seats?
  24. Rich-any problem hooking that 9513 up to a mid range engine? It was designed for big bores.
