  1. I still have a concern here that we are over looking the original post combustion in coolant! I would scrutinize these liners for cracks and pin holes as well did you have an oil sample done ? As Joe mentioned post sum picts of the scuffed liners These Rarely fail head gaskets from what we have seen at our shop . not saying it can't happen ............ Real heavy scuffing may be caused by a pin hole or crack !
  2. That there is a real shitty misshape and could happen to anyone! Its kind like stopping the truck and forgetting to pull the spring brake knob! I always park in neutral habit wise How ever! twelve speed I tri to park it at least in the direction the truck is going to travel the next morning hi or low in case the air shift sticks for some reason ( been burned ) at least it can get to the shop that way! Bummer man! sad for you this here is the best dump trans going! in my mind! that said there should be lots of fuller 18 speeds out there for Mack just throwing that out there you got to stretch the drive shaft anyway!
  3. So that could would likey be rings how ever have you done all six are they the same? Did you listen at the exhaust stack? these have a small issue from time to time of a piece falling out of a valve! some leak by would be expected on a hi miler engine! .Seems like the direction here has changed a bit? Are you still looking for air / combustion in the coolant? this symptom useuly reveals itself after or while pulling symptoms of hard starting sometimes accompany it As the cup moves up from its seat or gets cracked ! Being deleted there is a ( higher ) possibility of a cracked head ! just sayin!
  4. By chance did you check the EGR cooler on this bro? Just another straw to grasp!
  5. That should work ! They will have to build their own mounts is all !
  6. Yup still 3 cylinders with screw up potential ! Real smart!
  7. Sorry bro you should have started a new thread on This! remove the powersteering pump on the front of the engine there is a big nut to remove it slides out the back!
  8. Haha ! Nope !🤪 Should have noticed Dave wild hasn't been here for quite some time! Funny how these pop up to the top from time to time ! Oh well it may get someone out of a jam some day! 😁
  9. Rob it drives a fiber splined cup I don't think there will be an issue welding it totally! the hard surface wouldn't be an issue in my opinion! If you need to run and your doing it your self just getter done! No warranty to worry about here! 😄
  10. And so you answer is no! To different concepts one debatably better than the other! If these guys had got rid of the dollar store plunger injection system and installed a proper hpcr system! these would be almost bullet proof engines ! They cheaped out yet again!
  11. Correct the T leafs hitting the buckets indicate the pads are fubar! also there are steel spacer shims either side of the spring that are sometimes omitted on the 38 suspension they NEED TO BE there! If you step up to the 44 suspension these are always required ! If your walking out 3 inches the trunnion is defiantly suspect If its a grease trunnion You got a huge project on your hands! If its all rubber your looking at 8-12 hrs of toil to do everything! If your changing the chair recommend doing this setup Like Joey recommends NEVERSEASE IS Your friend lots of it! Gaumer Industries - Gaumer Trunnion Stands for Mack Camelback Applications These are offered by several supplyers ! I also recommend converting to all rubber if your going this route if your dump application just because its and easy fix next time ! most guys forget to jack up the truck when they grease! for proper! most guys don't know how to care for the greased version Just sayin
  12. Joe smart on your part! Agreed these people change their minds like you and I change socks as far as specs and instructions go ! Its like mechanical Covid An on going ever changing Volvo osis Disease!😡 Another very large experiment with the public ! They may find a cure one day however .................. they may have to hire pfryzer to fix it for them!
  13. Just a word on these ! when introduced these were marketed as Stealth brake it only happened for several years I believe! theses played havoc on turbo shaft seals creating real heavy Bloby on application on long steep grades If you are planning on running this set up and have a lot of long steep grades you may want to think twice on it ! also when these were installed there was a valve spring up date done I don't remember the particulars on it I only did one of these updates as they dropped the concept after a year or two! Just sayin!
  14. Pay ATTENTION TO JOES NEXT POST! 35 on the set! the set is a way off either your not measuring right or it was a real bad set to start with Or you have another possible cam issue! ! these are (rarely )that far out most of the time 2 or three thou one way or the other after 2-3 years! You should be seeing 16 thou +/- 1 or 2 on intake 24 + / - 1 or 2 ! I'll let Joey write the novel !
  15. Thanks for posting your fix Bro!
  16. I was that guy 45 years ago! That said your comment above applied to me up till the point The Big V got involved ! So the always will, don't count for me! My get up and go got up and went after that! We had a good product up to that point in time ! But now its just a main stream POS Like everything else ! Ya they had there issues but they addressed them for the most part! Thankfully I have retired as of Jan 31 2022 ! Hanging it up after almost 50 years !Started with Mack in 1972 back when they were still building real trucks and were a bit forward thinking kept things relatively simple and straight forward ! Everyone said back then! Wouldn't by a Mack because you were stuck buying your parts thru them which was partly true back then BUT WAY WORSE these days! For All the Company's building the throw away trucks and equipment of this era !The generation of waste! This is how we are saving the environment! Oh well ! Sorry just rambling Cause I have the time! 😁
  17. Also want to add here! be sure the muffler you buy is Made for a single exhaust truck 4inch or 5 inch ! There is a difference in dual and single ! We got burned once by making a dual into a single and not changing mufflers ! School of hard knocks came into play here! Just sayin
  18. these all depend on how def you are! 😁
  19. Bro we are truck guys here However most of this junk operates in a similar fashion Can you locate the def dosing valve it will likly be mounted in front of the after treat box? if you can remove it and check for crystal formation this would identify an issue with that injectors spray Or an exhaust leak near it also There is a possibility the def pump has failed! Again there maybe some one on the site here that is familiar with the cat way of doing things so keep checking back here!
  20. Yup why does it start out in 4th? cause they programed it like that! It can be programed to start in 2nd but they don't! Once the truck is rolling empty or loaded the trans ecu can take a full gear or half gear what ever is needed! Slipping the clutch is not necessary but they do it! This has pissed me off since they started pushing this trany down our throats ! Why not make the trans do its job! Thats why its there!
  21. Is it even plugged in ? Its possible they took the air cleaner off to access an reseal the EUP and didnt plug it back in done that a few times my self! Any one ever have this issue and anyone know the part number? I cant find it in Fleet Impact buts it is mounted in the intake tube and they didn't want to give me the part number for some reason. That there is no surprize the impact program is A POS ! Need to be a rocket scientist at times to operate it!
  22. Usually this is a wiring issue as Jojo has mentioned in Our area there is Brine/ salt on the roads this time of year and it gets in to EVERTHING ,But rule out the techy end with the tech tool make sure the any codes are un related your up dates are up to date For WHAT EVER reason this makes a difference sometimes as these people keep changing stuff! Then start tareing into harness issues ! just sayin!
  23. Totaly agree jojo ! However the way these are programed to fail the clutch early ! If your not watching these will start out in 4th gear every time ! Slipping the clutch for the first 20 feet before totally engaging! If ALL the trucks were programed to start out in 2nd there would be half the clutch wear! getting them past that magical 750 mark MAYBE how ever clutch wear is not a warrantable item so its beneficial to mack/ volvo to to program this way so why change it! A 8-10 thousand dollar clutch job is beneficial to them ! At 250000 - 300000!😡

    Trump rally

Jojo ! This is very doable on a REAR if you got the equipment ! We have a parts washer ! This cuts the time immensely! Blo the diff to bits peal off the bearings Wash em inspect the case halfs and gears determine the parts u need ! And This is the key , GOOD PARTS people pull and deliver your parts to your bench start reassembly 6 hours to build it end to end sitting on a pallet! If you know your doing a gear set to start the parts guys can pull your bearings and gear bits for you to get you started on reassembly by the time your done stetting the top end, you can build the diff portion in an hour! If they got there shit together ! It Takes cooperation and team work but it can be done!
  25. Your better off doing what you do ! Trying to justify someone else's actions when something goes sideways is hard to do if they make a mistake on your behalf ! And unfortunately mistakes happen as you know! No body is perfect what we do is not exact science !When you think about it, We are like vets of machinery! all different Types of animal's in our business !
