  1. You must live in a dri climate or your blessed! That said in my opinion there is no one manufacturer better than the next the vehicles are built with one thing in mind sell parts after the sale ! For the most part go where you’re going to get the best service! If you drive a Pete and the dealer network is good where you travel that’s what to buy! If you want Mack and the dealer network is good buy one. just sayin
  2. K so on the older 315 MACK engine there was a bunch Monkey motion springs and linkage behind the pump make sure that stuff, if its still there isn't binding or causing issues if its there get rid of it! Also check your throttle lever on the side of the pump for a broken spring Its spring loaded and can cause the rpm to float wildly!
  3. Well that was my only straw I would really be interested to see what you find here! The psi drop is quite a big one! Back in the day if this were a V8 I would be looking for a cam bearing being pulled out! every once and awhile a v8 would loose 10 psi all of a sudden! The issue was the front cam bearing would work its way out and bearing would be ripped out by the counter weight! this usually happened shortly after being put into service so under warranty we were instructed to install a new bearing and keep on keepin on! never seen it happen to a six thou! And you would have found the evidence in the pan! good luck with this bud!
  4. Yup Glen is correct! I 'm not sure of the logic behind the two piece How ever back in the late 70's early eightys they tried using them on the E6 and it didn't work out well they would break up! ! they gravitated back to single piece! They came back to it in the e7 era and it has worked out this time! one advantage is no steel ring inserts! the crown is already steel! The Mp engines have no skirt to speak of, only a small area of contact in alignment with the rod below the piston head!
  5. Is this an inline six or V? you may have one bad injector causing this!
  6. Swish that condition can usually be tuned out by backing the screw out a turn or so on the back of the pump where the wire goes!
  7. If your buying new ! go where your service is going to be the best Most all makes are created equal ! All cheap wire all cheap sensors JUNK the base vehicle will be comparable! BUY lots of warranty you'll need it! My opinion
  8. Check your throttle linkage for looseness the spring loaded em on the side maybe worn! Try putting some howes or standyne fuel conditioner in the fuel.!
  9. what engine do you have mack gray engines have a snap ring!
  10. Good call KT! Would there not be a ABS code coming up with this issue though?
  11. In the original pic It appears to be Camel back suspension the chair looks to be a aftermarket replacement the torque rod set up looks correct except for the front in my mind the front bracket rod is not there that's fine for a camel back as mentioned the bracket doesn't belong there! get rid of it! or put it on the rear its a better set up than the rear one! maybe it hung up on the torque rod and bent it Either way just splitting hairs I can't fathom bending that torque rod have no explanation ! other than some superman event! 😂
  12. don't think the the 15 speed bell housing is the the same ! may not fit the 18 speed you need an eighteen sp with the mack bell housing you will also have to alter the clutch lever and mount bracket! We have a customer with the the setup you need I will check his vin next week !
  13. Holy crap ! I believe that is as rear torque rod that has been put in the front location ! I have had this happen twice where the parts guy looks a the drawing of the parts break down and interprets it back ward ! The impact program is a poor setup ! Very hard to navigate in some places ! this is one of those places! This doesn't explain the bend how ever Looks like the front of the diff was driven up on a huge rock or something!
  14. We have had quite a few with shift lid issues as well there is a stop plate that breaks from time to time on one of the shift rails If its ether of these issues its not something your going to fix on your own The dealers are pretty much hardwired to this new stuff!
  15. Being as we are grasping at straws here ! Just asking a dumb question You do have the correct amount of oil in the base ? If its over full the oil can get fluffed up and cause low oil pressure 32 litre is most common ! 52 0n ESI engine (3 oil filters) If the engine was born ESI and the Pan changed to Standard is this a possibility ? Dip stick is calibrated correctly ?
  16. Mack Technician Is still listed too! it don't really mean much! I miss all the guys input! All good posters!
  17. Ya NOPE there out of stock too sorry bro just unplug it and try running with out it! https://www.woodlineparts.com/products/pai-841979-mack-mak85133799-kit-egr
  18. Check PAI
  19. Can still be the turbo unfortunately they get sooted up and stick its the nature of the beast! and very hard to diagnose!
  20. Check the air cleaner and intake air plumbing on older trucks if its getting warm air from under the cab it will throw a 270 code for this, back then it was called (compressor discharge temp)
  21. Yup that's it! The engine was a joint effort thing same deal as Ford 6.9 and IHC back in the day ! you build an engine for us to our spec and we will call it ours!
  22. As mentioned by Vmac Before you pull the pump remove the timing event marker MAKE Sure you have what looks like a flat blade screw driver tip in the CENTER of the hole where the timing even marker is removed from Make sure the timing mark on the fly wheel is at its timing mark usually 6-8 deg Static timing depending on model year! (should be on the valve cover) remove the pump seal what you need to seal re install the pump to the engine with the ESACT specs provided above and it will still be in time! the tool joe has shown there is a luxury not a necessity I have done many of these with out the tool and checked it afterward with the tool and it remained perfectly timed! Good luck! Just sayin
  23. I will see if I can upload A pic bro ! if You google 72 880 David brown its an 880 12 sp live drive two speed PTO ! the only thing I am missing is power steering it would be helpful for the stuff I do with it! I'm pretty hard on it, I mostly log with it! The saw mill is run off the pto as well! how ever as stated Its my swiss army knife around the yard, Would feel hopeless when its not running!
