  1. your Its the best way to deal with it!I pretty much do this each time cause we have to warrenty what we do! It pays to take the time in my case!It looks like such a simple jobTo, but can be a PIA if you dont take the time!
  2. Hey Ed I have found it best to put two orings on that one in the groove one above,( I'm not positive of the number) Also have found that you pretty much got to remove the fill tube from the block and start from scratch to aline everything properly And to be double sure I fill the cavity above the oring with hi heat! silcone Tighten turbo drain and block bolts lightly till seated then snug up! Just an observation!
  3. Hi John! If you can 't turn the fan by hand its Seazed! You will need to replace it!The wires control what it does when its working correctly If you can't turn it a little by hand its not working corectly!
  4. No once the relay kit is installed and the switch is replaced if needed then the repair is complete! The relays take the heat off the switch. As for fuel lines on an aset the fuel line is to be replaced when ever you have to replace a fuel pump as a saftey procaution!Fuel line problems were another common issue 2004- 2006!Safety campainWe now have a handle on that as well! Its along story ! C.Y.A. Thing now!Change the fuel line if you disturb it period!
  5. Most of this stuff comes down too!HOW MUCH MONEY YOU got! You can put a square peg in a round hole if you work at it long enough. Is It worth it????
  6. sorry chuck would you have to change heads? Nope!
  7. Recalls (saftey issues )are not up dates! The exhast gaskets are not recalls they are only required if they fail!If they fail under warrenty mack pays If they fail after you pay! Requirmenst of sale IF you purchase the truck Would have to be> Uppdated exhast Gaskets and studs ,new belts and tensioners as needed! My opinion.
  8. Yup That a boy Kev Jump in with both feet bud! We can use all the help we can get!
  9. like I said not a week end project!
  10. yup herb HK about all to look for on 06 is belts and belt tensioners and exhast gaskets check to see if it has the latest gasket and stud arrangment. MOST other stuff has been dealt with for the most part! Again look at the forums you'll see the things the guys have been chasing! The truck your looking at looks like a cherry unit as newer trucks go!
  11. Robert I would get the history on the truck if you can and post it! We need to see what has been done! Having said that look thru the posts on this forum reguarding 2004-2006 units that will give you a rough Idea of the things guys have be struggling with keeping in mind 2006 is a good year or as good as it gets year to buy unless you go to the new after treat engine. In 2006 MOST of all the stuff that could go wrong was dealt with ,how ever it is still not going to be a pre 2000 reliable unit Talk to Herb!
  12. There is more to this than what you Think! Rad, after coole,r fan, fan shroud yada yada !Thats the short list! NOT A WEEK END PROJECT!
  13. whats the engine out of!
  14. It aint over till its over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Duno!??? If it aint broke don't fix it for now!We need to get Jerry sorted out first. We'll see if hes got the update drain tube on there! Your truck will already be fine in this reguard! The chn has everything going for it wide frame yada yada. As 68 said 2004 was the only year for this! This was one of the first fixes that Volvo came up with.Space shuttle stuff.
  16. That a boy 68 you the man!
  17. Dont pull the plug your having good sucsess. OK the boost is correct the key to the turbo speed was that ,The data file is likly correct! The engines started out having almost 10 psi At idle we were poping turbos left and right. Check the tubo drain thing! The update is some what bigger letting the oil get away faster coolinng the turbo some in therory if recall. The specs on wheel speed is like pulling teeth to get, Forget that!plus you have to monitor that with the computer program to know whats going on. This turbo thing may just be the luck of the draw for you i duno. but check on the tube! Still thinkin!
  18. Keep us guys employed getting them backed off to get the wheels off anyway Glenn! !
  19. Jerry It aint the cooler. Make sure you got the updated turbo drain tube on your truck there was a SB long time ago on this, see if 68 can find it for you! Also check to see if he can find the engine data file your running See if its correct we had problems with a few trucks poping turdos the data file was changed to correct the turbo wheel speed !Having said that, This is where the guessing game starts, running the block off may be spooling the turbo to excess at the wrong times! Heres a check! When your engine idles just sitting there, What kind of boost do you see on the gauge? There should be 0-5 at the most! Don't forget the puter dont know what youve done ,that now is out of its control. neather does the turbo. im just curious here! Now the turbo has to do what the fuel tells it to do to a point the puter is being told now that the egr valve needs to be wide open Cause its thinking I don't see egr flow. I'm really not sure what its telling the turbo to do at this point! Just thinking.
  20. Two thoughts DID THEY REPLACE BEARINGS MAKE SURE the right wheel bearings are in there!!!!! The bearings on some axles require a radius on the inner cone where it buts to the axle Depending on the axle! The number of the bearing can be correct EXCEPT it requires a letter in front or behind the number check and double check for correct numbers! Also some axles require spacers behind the bearing is yours one of these and if so did they delete or omit the spacer?
  21. May be an 866 The valve covers look like 325/375 hp! Althou the water pump pu is on the wrong side so its hard to say! There calling it an detroit 893 An 8 92 me thinks the valve cover looks divided but isn't And it sounds like a 2 stroke aswell.
  22. Grease the ujoints! And get the leak checked likly a return hose clamp or crapy hose .also If it has a steady bearing in the shaft before it goes into the box check and see if it runs smooth! Preasure from the pump! one return line to the tank unless it has dual boxes!
  23. I think you'll find it just behind the thermastat housing . Doest your truck have AC the AC swithtch on the reciever may be fubar!Try jumping over the ac switch if it has one!
  24. The fuel comes up around the injector does not always go out the injecton line,if you pull the plug on top of the injector its quite easy to see if there is fuel sitting on top! I beleive 68 likly has a good thought here if the bore is scored that may be your answer.
