  1. Camshaft are different, also the older 2 valve used a different camshaft bushing in the block. Seems like some of the newer 2 valve used the same rear cam bearing and a lot of the reman engines. The old style used a thick rear cam bushing for a smaller journal, later they made the journal all the same
  2. Have a 08 Mp8 regen lite flashing lighting bolt on, lost power and tried to regen. Runs about 20 minutes and stops. Look at codes and showed 128 pid 411 fmi7, 128 ppid326 fmi0, 128psid47 fmi 12, 128 psid47 fmi1. Cleared codes but ppid 326 fmi o stayed active. Tried to regen sitting again, ran about 20 minutes again and stopped. regen light still flashing and codes 128 ppid 326 fmi o and 128 psid 47 fmi 1 in codes this time. Anybody have any ideals. Thanks
  3. Looks like Hannibal in The Silence of the Lambs.
  4. Have seen low fuel pressure do some funny things on E-Tech engines, Ck fuel pressure or pull the supply pump and see if fiber gear is slipping.
  5. 2008 lost power, lighting bolt on and off. Shows MID 128 SID 27 FMI 9 in there . Code will not stay active when sitting still but goes on and off while driving. Any ideals.
  6. Its on the passenger side above the air compressor and below the unit pumpers, not sure but look under #5. I is a fitting with a pressure relief valve internal, it has a plastic line that comes from the from injector return fuel and a # 6 braided line that goes back to the fuel tank.
  7. Injector harness is not brittle, bought 4 new terminals and installed this morning. Found a pin that fit tight in new terminals but was loose in the plug on #5, truck leaving for Florida tonight will see what happens, do you know the part # on the complete soldered on harness? Funny you can clear the code without stopping and it quits missing.
  8. Had this same problem back in October truck would miss shows code 128 SID 5 Fmi 5. cut truck off and restart and might go 200,500 or 700 miles before it does it again. Had replace engine harness a year earlier. Replaced # 5 injector and has ran about 30,000 miles since with no problems. Trip this week about 2000 miles did it one time same code. 2nd trip about 500 miles done it about 4 times returning today already done it 4 times in 200 miles. I know they had terminals problems and found the harness we replaced about 15 months ago and the date on the bag it came in said 10-12-2012 I would think it would be new style. any Ideals? Driver just called in and it doing it every 25-35 miles now he said when it does it he can just clear the code out while driving and it quits missing and ok for a while.
  9. about 1/2 " above the red circle is that a hose clamp? On our 2005 ac engine there is a steel tube from the air compressor that comes to there and a short hose and 2 clamps and than steel tube around the water pump housing.
  10. We have a 2005 CXN at around 900,000 miles started popping and smoking and cutting out for a couple of seconds and than run maybe another day before it would do it again. No codes would show and this went on for 3 weeks, finally staxx suggested change orings on the power leash engine brake switches and that took care of the problem.
  11. The early etech had freeze plugs in the ends of the rocker arms, seen alot of them pop out but probaly all 4 would have to come out to loose that much oil pressure, seen oil pressure drop when wrong centrimax oil filter installed there is a big hole and a small hole one that fits those engine or maybe they left out the centrimax filter, good luck.
  12. We had a lot of problems on old leece-neville alternators drawing down Batteries on a 2 or 3 day period. You could unhook and check, or we would just raise the hood after a night and feel of the alternator and it was warmer than than the rest of the metal around it than it is pulling current.
  13. When he pulled the fuel pump, did they check the engine timming when they put it back on? White smoke and burnt pistons sound like timming, If it has the fiber tooth coupling on it and if you miss one tooth when putting it back on it will throw the timming out by 10 or 12 degrees.
  14. Most drivers I know don't use paper log books, they use paper lie books.
  15. Is that with the fiber coupling or the old tang drive? If the tang drive if you line up the hole and pin it should be close if it was right before. If the fiber coupling the half tooth missing with the pin should do the same thing. I have seen where on both styles when putting the coupling on the shaft of the pump you can miss the key way & on the fiber coupling style if you miss the half tooth the pump will not go all the way to the block it will like about 1/4" and seen people pull it up with the bolts and it will make another half tooth in the fiber coupling and if I remember correctly the timming will be out about 12-15 degrees.
  16. We have a MP7 that has a davco filter and the primary filter is capped off to, you can unscrew the cap and there is a o-ring on that cap, you might check it.
  17. Oil presssure to the jake was a problem with them. We put high speed oil pump on ours and it helped, but if I really needed a good Jake I would put a tune up kit in it and install the external oil lines kit that runs oil pressure for gallery on side of block to the jake spacers. It really makes a difference. I have had a few plugs come out of the rocker shaft end plugs & lose oil pressure but usually the jake dont work on that head.
  18. F Models we had in the late 70's and early 80's we used to have a lot of front studs brake, we bought the trucks used and replaced 1 or 2 at a time with replacement studs. Finally we replaced all of them at one time with OEM Mack studs and used a torque wrench to 500 lbs & never broke another one.
  19. Were they OEM pins with the 1/2 inch thick plug or the old plugs style about a 1/8 thick? Always jack up front axle to grease. It's possible the grease seal in the top below the bearing is in backward. It should be in so the seal release the grease toward the axle. If its in wrong it holds the grease in and puts pressure on the top cap.
  20. 2000 miles 1 trip missed 1 time, cut off engine start back up fine. Next trip 800 miles missed 2 times. on the return trip Missed 13 times till got back each time he would cut truck off and restart than it would go for a while. Code in system 128 sid 5 fmi 5 13 times. Truck starts easy and idles good, Drove for 1 hour this morning and cannot get it to do anything. I know it has to do with # 5 injector. When you get injector seat gasket blown will it show the same injector or various ones with air in system, I hear they are hard to start with air in system but this truck stars easy.. About 80,000 miles ago head was replaced, along with new wiring harness. truck has 590,000 on it now, and ideals Its BACK We replaced #5 Injector and has run about 30,000 miles. This last trip about 2400 miles it started missing on #5 again. 128 SID 5 FM 5. You can cut off truck and restart and it will run fine for a while. I found the package were we replaced the harness in November of 2012 and it showed a package date of 10-12-1012 I would think it should have the new terminal on it. any ideals? 1-24-14
  21. My Michelin book rates it the same as a XZE G rating 5205lbs, XRV 16/32, XZE 20/32, It would work for me.
  22. I figured it out, it's simple the harder we work, the better they live (47%)

    Mack Rears

By looking at the spring box on the passenger rear it appears to be alum. The springs are camelback and if i was guessing it would be a 34,000. Drinking milk here. lol
  24. Replace shaft. The shaft can be remove by removing the power steering pump on front timming cover or the plate. Remove the big nut inside and knock the shaft loose from the gear and pull it out the back. Install new shaft back in and retorqe nut.
  25. Our 2005 CXN broke a rocker arm bolt lost some oil pressure and had a knock in it, it had the powerleash engine brake on it, but it happen around 250,000 miles. They have upgraded rocker arm bolt for them. If you have the Power leash engine brake you might ck them.
