  1. Broke camshaft...............Pfffft........childs play................ My 428 back in 2000. That bend up rod on the right? I had to take the cap off(laying next to rod) as it was still hooked to a piece of crank. It was NOT going to let go, no matter, no how. Proudly kneeling by my mess:
  2. I did the same back in '96 with my new F350 dually. Had brand new flaps with diamond plates on the bottom. Back onto buddy's shop parking lot one Saturday and ripped the whole shebang off. Dammit! Like usual..........now that you screwed it up once, you don't have to be so careful anymore
  3. Overloaded with "sailboat fuel"......................he's gunno burn the clutch up getting that load moving LOL!!
  4. My trailer is a fifth wheel. It originally was a goose and I took the plate off the truck and made my own ball hitch. I then switched it over to a pin and put the plate back on. Much easier to hook/unhook. I've actually seen trucks with gooseneck balls mounted behind the fifth wheel plate(giving them the option of either kind of trailer). I'm guess it matters none for overall weight rating and having too little front axle weight. My truck is still 6K lbs on the front axle empty and with no power steering..........it never gets "light" to steer LOL!!! The pin weight is 3K lbs, but the trailer weight is 14K lbs. It is apparent you've never driven a stock B model LOL!! Sorry, not poking fun, but there is no real acceleration capability of these trucks. 180 hp is just slow and steady
  5. Fixed or sliding fifth wheel? My guess the sliding would be something you would figure out as you use it. Knowing how much weight each slot equates to on the front axle weight. A fixed? Not sure how the factory decides where it should be put? I suppose they do some math and put it close to where the front axle would max out with maximum GCVW(gross combined vehicle weight). My .02 on the subject.
  6. Going from a poor memory, but pretty sure mine is 517 axle. Maybe I'll pull my brackets and redrill them. My trailer is only 3000# on the pin, so I'm light.
  7. I know my fifth wheel is only a couple inches forward of the rear axle. How far forward should it be? Not that I'll ever put a big load on it, but curious to know where anyone else puts theirs?
  8. When I get in those situations, I keep an eye on my driverside mirror and keep my trailer just off the yellow line(or whatever is over there). If I keep it tight there, I have no worries about the other side running into anything. Throw in some rain, night time and those ridiculous projector headlights coming at you....then I get nervous. The g/f usually just closes her eyes because she thinks all kinds of bad things are going to happen. Pfffft, nothing to it. What was bad a couple years ago on the PA turnpike, they were using all cones to control what lane you used. Running around a bend, in the rain/dark you lost your way real quick if you looked too far ahead. The cones just all mushed together and you couldn't tell where you were suppose to be.
  9. Have a great weekend! I have a points race on Saturday, so that leaves me out for Macungie.........again.
  10. Hmmm, I missed something..............there was no B model? Hmmm, maybe I'll reclick the link LOL!!
  11. Looks pretty solid. Nice start.
  12. Vent hose? Is that like the overflow line from the top of the radiator? I'm not sure what the differences are between your military 673 and my civilian 673? If no one else chimes in, can you post a picture of hoses?
  13. That is SWEET!!!! Got a race this weekend, but that show is a bit far for me anyway.
  14. With history of gasser back then, I am thinking you won't get 4-5 mpg rolling downhill empty. Put a trailer behind it with a crawler and you will not make much headway very quickly. I know a local fellow with a gasser B model with 510ci motor. It goes through fuel faster then a hole in the tank can leak it. It also won't pull a grade over 35 mph with his little 20ft flatbed doubles behind it. Slow, real slow. My old 673 pulls my 14K lb trailer okay. My 2000 PSD Ford would run circles around it(that is what I used to use).
  15. Welcome aboard. Nice find. Are you planning on repowering it? That lil gas pot might be a bit slow on the draw compared to your newer Dodge.
  16. Brooks, Oregon show? Straightstack.com was their website I think. Have to do a little Youtube seach to find the other videos. For the life of me I can't think of the title they use??????
  17. That is why I buy the old ones. Mine is a 1978 4K unit similar to the one on the cart.
  18. All their trucks are cool. Their B model is my absolute FAVORITE, bar none.
  19. Here's one: http://akroncanton.craigslist.org/for/4474848911.html Those mufflers are no way quiet enough. I put a new stock muffler on mine($65 online) and it is very quiet. Or help out the WHOLE neighborhood: http://akroncanton.craigslist.org/hvo/4470830271.html http://cleveland.craigslist.org/bfs/4472073160.html or a 6500 watt model: http://cleveland.craigslist.org/boa/4489908237.html
  20. AWD too. Very tough, go anywhere truck.
  21. Trucks look familiar. I'm thinking it is the same guys from Oregon that have the show out there and then run the moutain pass with 30 or so trucks.
  22. The bad thing is the cheapie ones will end up failing JUST WHEN YOU NEED IT!! After sitting for a long time, blah, blah, blah. Getting parts is nill for them. Buddy got one of thes little two stroke models and it failed right ouf of the box. I think they replaced it for free and the one he has now runs fine. He uses it to charge the battery on his race car at the track. I've found a couple Onan 4K's on craigslist that people have set up for home use with a jerry can and such. Ya, about $500 is common for a decent running one. That is what I paid. Since I put a new fuel pump on mine, it purrs like a kitten for hours on end. No more surging and sputtering at a half tank of fuel. I'd like to have a 5-6K unit so I could power the house when need be, but those are a bit more money when you find them. I've found nice larger back up units on craigslist also. Not priced too bad either.
  23. I know Dean Ashby put one on the back of his Acar to pull his Airstream. His truck has walking beam? Or was it puck? Something without too much give anyway. I used to have a picture of the setup he built. Kinda similar but I think he built it into the rear plate of the truck so any receiver he put in had the dampening effect. I don't know where any pics of PeterJ's H model is with the setup he had? All his gallerys here are gone.
