  1. Nice old shot. The guy on the left seems interested in the tread depth of that left steer and they're sporting those clubs like they're looking to whoop some trucker butt. I see this ending badly. That's the oldest truck I've seen with a Markel sticker.
  2. Yeah!...right on!....uh....I meant to say.........Welcome, Nightwind!
  3. Yes, but can she type? On most Saturday mornings, my mindset once I get out of the truck is to keep walking and don't look back. I made a rare exception to grab this crappy cell phone shot.
  4. That info should be in the Wiki where it can be readily accessible. The subject will always come up from time to time.
  5. Are you referring to Island Transportation from LI? The company fleet was once 100% Mack-R685's, 686's, and 773's. They had a handful of O/O's and a couple of them even had R-600's.
  6. No, just a two-stroke. Is that from the Island? If so, who was the previous owner?
  7. I have trouble embracing anything related to that company no matter how positive an idea it may be. I think Hanna-Barbera could've come up with a more eye pleasing design, and they're both dead. New cab should do it.
  8. Happy Birthday! I remember when you were 13. It seems like yesterday.
  9. Shoulda saved that one for "Throw-up Thursdays".
  10. Is that blacktop you're driving on? Sorry you were teased by that hot dog sign. PM me anytime if you want to talk about it.
  11. Very refreshing. They seemed to have a genuine interest is understanding what it's like behind the wheel and they didn't fake their way through by learning on an Autoshift.
  12. The tractor fleet is gradually becoming all Mack once again, but reliability issues are forcing them experiment with other brands.
  13. Very nicely done. Not to oversimplify it, but could that be accomplished by raising the cab and bed of an older Dodge pickup and adding the hood?
  14. It's gonna take a helluva lot more than chrome lug nut covers and chicken lights to overcome the fugly factor on this one.
  15. How the hell did they not know that would end badly? Those moe-rons shouldn't be around any piece of equipment that isn't made by Tonka.
  16. Interesting school uniform.
  17. Welcome! I don't own a Mack, but I play one on TV.
  18. Any fleet could have a few outsiders in what appeared to have been an all Mack fleet so I think 99% should qualify. Overnite and APA Transport ran Mack's in both road and city operations.
  19. I'm experiencing feelings I've never had before and therefore, the words to describe these feelings are not in my vocabulary.
  20. I owe a bunch of you folks a "like" when I get my reset. This was an excellent idea for a thread.
  21. Unfortunately, they're doing things differently these days. Much of the work that was once done in-house is now farmed out and the 3 newest additions to the fleet are...gulp...white daycab Cascadia's from Penske. I heard many comments and compliments over the cb while driving the R models ranging from "nice old Mack" to "I'd quit on the spot if my boss told me that's what I had to drive". Some people just don't get it. The R's were one of the "pros" when I listed the pros and cons before deciding to take the job. I knew I had made the right decision when I jumped behind the wheel for my road test and was greeted with a view that took me back to my childhood and riding with my Dad. A dog's ass never looked so good.
  22. There seems to be some spinoff companies using that same shade of green and the same or similar stripes. http://www.st-germainexpress.com/ http://www.sgt2000.com/Default.aspx
  23. Some great shots here. I 'm outta likes so just pat yourselves on the back, but don't pull a muscle.
  24. Put the can back in the hole and re-tape it. Then all you have to do is reinforce the wall in the adjacent room.
  25. The steering wheel was an aftermarket that I believe was added when the cab was upgraded to a galvanized around 1996. The horn button clashed with the rest of the interior but was one of the coolest features on that truck. #212, the one in my avatar, had an equally clean interior plus padded door panels. I agree with you on the shifter extension but I HAD to do it for the sake of tradition and that was the only style I could find. It was in a bin near the floor of a Mom & Pop truck stop off the Ohio Turnpike near Warren. This was around 2002-3 and judging by the filth on the plastic bag it was in, I'd say it had been in there since the 70's. I will say it was a bit easier on the palm of my hand because I would grip the knob and the horizontal section of the lever when grabbiing "all those gears".
