  1. I don't mind cranking the landing gear as it probably accounts for 75% of my physical activity on a typical work shift, but they do bring up some good points about the manual systems. The pin in the handle is still the weakest point in the system and there is still a risk of injury if the handle springs back in the opposite direction. I believe those two issues have been around for as long as there has been retractable landing gear. I keep an open mind to this simply because there needs to be improvements to the current system and there's only so much you can do to improve them because of the simplicity. This does create a problem for the next wave of new breeds who not only won't be able to drive a manual transmission but will now have to call road service if the gear has to be cranked by hand. That's funny! It's all a matter of perspective, I guess.
  2. What year is it? I'm surprised that it has a duplex. I know those were offered with a 260hp Thermodyne well into the 70's or 80's but I thought a large fleet like Overnite would've went with a Maxidyne and 5 speed. When my Dad worked for KenRoy they had 4-5 MB685 tandem axle reefer straight trucks leased to King Kullen. Those trucks would fly when empty.
  3. Great video. Thanks for posting it.
  4. I'll bet he was smooth as silk with the 2-stick, too. Definitely a refreshing sight.
  5. Ah France, the land of romance. That would explain the erection.
  6. I googled the number on the Mid East truck. It's them http://mideasttrucking.com/equipment.html
  7. I didn't realize how bad Ohio was hit with the storm. I'm sure the wind off the lake didn't help either.
  8. Can you actually taste the raspberry in the candy-coated outside? I used to like the red ones when I was a kid because they had a weird taste to them while the others had no flavor. It turns out that red dye #2 was a carcinogen. Is that a drilling site you delivered to in Amity? There's a lot going on right alongside I-79 between Washington and Mount Morris. I've delivered to that fence company across the road a few times. Good to see the goats again. I found the location on Google Earth, they refer to that road as US 48. I thought it was WV 55.
  9. WTF?!.....HTF?!....Isn't there enough weight up there to make a very noticeable difference in how the truck handles? WTF?!!
  10. Them's the best lookin' reduced bin steaks I ever seen! Not even a hint of grey!
  11. They've definitely become popular in recent years and also more stylish and less cumbersome. I don't need a cow catcher off a locomotive to handle whatever I might encounter on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Thanks!
  12. That's great that they kept the same livery for so many years. I hope they're not changing to white like a bazillion other companies.
  13. This one also has a thing for SUV's. I can't blame the dog, though. That was my 5th deer hit in less than 1 1/2 years. The other four were with Sterlings.
  14. I believe they looked into them and decided it was cheaper to replace hoods which surprised me because this company loses a helluva lotta hoods to deer.
  15. The cabbage truck belongs to Consumers Produce from Pittsburgh.
  16. I've gone 2 nights in a row with no incidents. It's a great feeling. I think safety should give me a patch or sumthin'.
  17. Thanks guys. That's not all I bagged that night. On my way back home on the morning after I took this pic, I hit a deer a mile from the terminal. Twisted the bumper pretty good, but that's why PO goes with the cheap instead of aero bumpers. The driver I'm sharing with got this truck new last fall. back in January he hit a stray car that was pinwheeling back and forth across I-270 in Columbus, OH. That one cost a hood and a bumper. I hope this truck isn't going to make a habit of this nonsense.
  18. My employer has a mostly Mack fleet and yet the majority of my time here has been spent behind the wheel of Sterling's and Volvo's. I finally bagged one of these elusive creatures. 2013 (registered as a '14) 120k miles, MP7-395, 10 speed Roadranger.
  19. I'll have to keep an eye out for them. There are a lot of propane trucks going in and out of Markwest and running I-79 but I've never seen an LP truck. Do they still run green tractors?
  20. Congratulations and Good Luck! He seems to have a work ethic that's becoming harder to find in kids these days.
  21. I've never seen a truck win in those situations but folks keep trying. That guy's suit isn't even wrinkle. Helluva car, them Studebaker's! I hope that when the cop is done picking on the trucker he notices the tail light out on the car.
  22. Well put, bullhusk and kscarbel. There are many members on here who have driven, owned, sold, or built Mack trucks and have some very valuable input that can be used to help Mack earn the reputation and brand loyalty it once enjoyed. Sadly, the phrase "Built like Mack Truck" has become just another meaningless corporate slogan that has been slapped on a product that can no longer distinguish itself from it's competitors. Are some of the comments here harsh? absolutely, but many of us here were raised in blue-collar families in a time when a truck was a truck and a Mack was a Mack. There was no such thing as "warm and fuzzy" or "political correctness" and if you had something to say, you said it. A statement should be judged by its content, not how it was conveyed. I'm sure all of us here are glad that Mack still exists, even if only in name and like it or not it was Volvo that made the save. However, I don't think it's possible for a group of educated consumers to have a discussion about any large corporation without a single negative comment being made.
  23. I loves my steak but what good is a BJ without the Bear?
